We all agree the first game is better right?
>>
>>748952295
it's a close call really
>>
>>748952295
I like the second game way more, namely for its gameplay. But I'm a huge RE x immersim fag, so there's that.

It's also the main reason why I like the SS1 remake more than the OG.

>This is what you want
>This is what you get
>>
>>748952295
I love them both. They're fundamentally different enough that you don't have to pick a superior.
I do think the first game was better put together though. 2 was great until the rickenbacher, then it kinda felt like the B team finished things up. 2 definitely plays better and has better systems though, even with the flaws in psi.
>>
>>748952295
both really good but honestly more like two different IPs due the differences.
>>
>>748952295
I have only played the first so far but there is no way that shit is better than 2 lmao.

>>748952295
the first game is kinda ass without mouselook
>>
>>748952295
Be honest, did you play it? Not the remake, not the mouselook version, the original.
>>
SS1 has more memorable areas, characters and wackier mechanics. SS2 was just a dull corridor shooter with some basic rpg stuff in it. I didn't do any of the psyonics shit though.
>>
>>748952295
Both are good.
Still I want a 3rd game that ties in what happened in 2.
I mean a SHODAN with a human body opens a ton of narrative pathways. And considering her god complex, I can already see what she'll want to do with Rebecca's body.
>>
I like the weirdness of 1. It feels more "cyber". Also, I'm a huge fan of Thief, so although I like the engine in 2, it doesn't feel as "system-y" as Thief. Or at least they didn't design the areas to make sure of it. The layouts and obstacles setups are pretty simple and the powers are weirdly balanced. I'd like to see a fan sequel with a different ship and more complex levels and new powers and enemies, but the same engine.

I wish I had a constant reality scanner displaying information from the troglodytes who make posts like these so I can see how many hours theyve sunk into the actual, actual system shock 1 without the enhanced edition mod
>>
>>748952295
Ss1 with modern controls > ss2 > ss1 old controls.
Still haven't played the remake. I'm waiting for VR to run with the gog version
>>
>>748957543
>>748953764
The devs always prefered the mouselook version and had told players to use it as soon as mods were made for it.
In the context of the thread/OP, your posts mean that playing SS1 without mouselook would make people reconsider their claims of being better than SS2 but it's really not relevant to how the games are played today.
I prefer SS2 anyway.
>>
>>748957757
>"the devs"
are you fucking braindead? SS1 has always had the ability to control things with a mouse, the enhanced edition is a mod that locks the mouse into the middle of the screen to give it a "modernized" fps control scheme, and has nothing to do with the original people who made and shipped system shock 1
>>
>>748957919
I am getting tired to retarded niggers of your kind immediately accusing any opposing views of waht you are doing (being retarded).
I know very well how the original shipped game controlled, and yes, the devs explicitly said they prefered the mouselook version (the one moded after, that came bundled in the enhanced edition).
>>
>>748952295
nah

>I know very well how the original shipped game controlled, and yes, the devs explicitly said they prefered the mouselook version (the one moded after, that came bundled in the enhanced edition).
just blatant lies btw, and the game is so obviously balanced around the old control scheme. the enhanced edition is the same thing as the movement hack 2d controls slapped onto the HD remaster of REmake that completely break the game

The System Shock 1 remake is the single greatest game I've ever played on PC

Nothing else I've experienced comes close
>>
>>748952295
Yes.
>>
>>748952708
I think the exact opposite.
In terms of feel and ballistics the first one feels way better, because SS2 is build on the Dark Engine which is not a shooter engine.
Weapons in SS1 feel so good to use (I mean the OG game, not the Demake).
>>
>>748959171
>Remake has less content than original
And this is after 50 medical floor demos
>>
>>748958116
The same devs that went to work on the shitty Ultma Underworld "remake" and the same devs that said they would've reduced the challenge in multiple areas in their geriatrics.
They also said Fallout 3 is a good immersive sim btw

>this nigger actually liked tank controls
>the control scheme where the only actual use case over modern is being able to back away from zombie lungies in close-range

Don't tell me you got filtered by camera angle changes, anon. There's no need to act superior on a mongolian basket weaving forum
>>
>>748960085
So yeah, you are definitely literally retarded. RE is also balanced around the exact same controls, exactly so that you cant just fly around the zombies which pose literally less than zero threat on the """"modern""" speedhack controls. You have downie tier IQ and do not actually like games
>>
>>748952295
I've both the OG 1 and 2 and the remake, and I still prefer the 2nd game.
>>
>>748952295
Why are you SS1ssies like this
Nothing wrong with being second-best, just accept your place and stop trying to start shit constantly
>>
>>748961837
It's NightDive remake fags. They want to be the face of System Shock
>>
>>748962148
The remake is great what are you upset about?
>>
>>748962148
Nah, SS1fags have always been insufferable

>>748952295
The remake? No. They smeared both titles in Vaseline it's disgusting.

>>748958948
There is no vertical. Keyboard aiming is fine if you don't have to look up. Yes the backwards cam is redundant when you can do a fast 180. Mouselook is a fine improvement, greasing up all the walls, and floors to make the game hideous is not.

Bark is not shiny.
>>
>>748952295
I think they are very different. SS2 may not be that great "as a sequel", actually, because it's so different from SS1. Both are great at what they do, though, and I personally find SS2's setting to be more interesting and the villians cooler.
