Sell me on this game /v/, why would I purchase this over Dragonwilds?
>>
No. Do it yourself.
>>
>>748952982
Get Enshrouded instead.
Valheim only has a good "vibe" and atmostphere, nothing else.
Swamp is just a boring snorefest that larpers call "hard".
Plains is barely "ok" but only because it looks like Westfall.
Mistlands is another forced "mechanic" that doesn't make the game hard but boring/chore.
Ashlands literally has nothing in it, not even a braindead gimmick.
The final zone took them 2 years and it has literally nothing but 2 new tree models and seals.
>>
>>748952982
Just pirate it, play it for a few hours and see if it clicks. I like the clear progression and the base building.
>>
>>748952982
why would you purchase dragonwilds? it looks like an asset flip with runescape branding.

Uuuhhhhh the audio/visual design is lowkey god tier, but the actual gameplay is very grindy, proc-gen, and polarizing. What the other guy said: Pirate it to see if you're into it.
>Dragonwilds
How IS this game, actually? Anyone here play it?
>>
Valheim walked so Dragonwilds could run.

I tried both, Dragonwilds is way more chill and cozy, with less challenge. I don't really like the style personally.
Valheim is good but it gets tedious later on, but I think it's more challenging and the art style and overall vibe is much better.

I hate to say it but it boils down to Soul vs Soulless
>>
>>748952982
it's only worth playing if you really like building in survival games or if you have a group of friends to play it with
the combat and exploration is mediocre and the game doesn't respect your time at all
also, pirate it. those lazy swede fucks don't deserve any more money
>>
>>748952982
why would you buy a game that's borderline indistinguishable from it's early access release years ago? this game still feels like a beta
>pixelhunt just to put a wall on top of a wall
>food buff info literally on the opposite corner from all other buff info
>on-screen controls look like placeholder shit and the controls are fucking barbaric so you'll want those up for at least a while
>>
Dragonwilds requires an Epic Games Account, Valheim does not.
>>
>>748952982
I played all of these games and that other anon is correct: you should get Enshrouded.

Dragonwilds is a trash incompetent entry in the genre. Each zone only has the same 3 reskinned enemies. You'll be fighting blue wolves in the blue area, then red wolves in the red area, and so on, it's fucking lazy. Also a lot of this game is just unity assets, for instance the map markers you can place include stuff that isn't even in the game, meanwhile there's no markers for the resources you would actually want to mark.

Valheim is cool, but Enshrouded does everything it does way better.
>>
>>748956323
i just took a fat sloppy shit. no Epic account required to smear it all over yourself so go ahead, champ
>>
>>748955884
>How IS this game, actually? Anyone here play it?
Dragonwilds is unity asset flip: the game, as I said here >>748956432

If you are fine with fighting blatantly reskinned enemies for hours, enjoy it, I thought it was lazy.
>>
>>748956463
Fix your life and your mental state, it's weird.
>>
>>748952982
If grinding your ass is your thing, go for valheim, but don't expect fun unless you get properly groomed by the discord that the game is "fun".
Dragonwilds is also dogshit but for other reasons, keep your money and fuck off
>>
>>748956553
how bout enshrouded
>>
>>748956534
my mental state doesn't allow me to recommend garbage games because they lack a simple one-time setup. i think yours needs some work.
>>
>>748956663
Better than the rest, though it's far from being great
The game gets repetitive with different coats of paint and the little they try to break the cycle is complete dogshit.
You'll get more out of enshrouded than valheim or dragonwilds, but I'd recommend only if you really need to scratch that itch
>>
The thread states Valheim vs Dragonwilds.

NOT enshrouded you IMBICILS
>>
I like Dragonwilds but it isbway too linear and the final boss is kinda tedious. It has much better skilling than Valheim though.
>>
>>748957035
>shit or shit
>>here's not shit
>NO I WANT SHIT
alright enjoy your shit
>>
>>748952982
I don't care about Dragonwilds, but I tried out Valheim after 1.0 and it's one of the most disgustingly overrated games I've ever played in my fucking life.

Progression is linear and gated as hell (need to kill a boss to get access to a pickaxe) and minerals/resources don't spawn in the world like they would in Minecraft and Terraria, so exploration is pointless. The combat is complete dogshit too. Like other people are saying, it REALLY is about the atmosphere and muh vibes.
>>
>>748952982
Do you like lazy devs who's idea of "world generation" means "ah fuck it, just apply a noise texture and be done with it"? If so, you should buy valheim.
>>
>>748956213
>already fixed
>not a problem
>not a problem
>>
>>748957952
Moder is the only boss that actually gates content
>>
>>748958113
Can you mine ore without defeating the first boss? If the answer is no, that is my definition of gated content.
>>
>>748952982
buy it to build a cool little cabin with walls and w mote or a castle. then go sailing then you can quit cause it doesnt get any fun after meeting wolves and fighting a dragon that one hits you no matter what you wear.
>>
>>748958245
You can get a troll to break copper and tin for you.
>>
>>748958245
>troll smash
>get ore
>make bronze
>make pick
>mine ore
Yes, yes you can
>>
>>748958245
I mean you can kill the first boss with a torch and no armor, so how "closed" is this gate really?
>>
>>748952982
you don't. you purchase Fallout 4 instead.
>>
>>748952982
Presentation is gorgeus, supreme even. The artstyle is just pleasant to look at.

Everything else before Deep North is worthless boring slop. If you want summary of how this game goes
>arrive at a new biome
>try to get a pickaxe appropriate for that biome
>try to get food appropriate for that biome
>farm metal forever to prepare for the bossfight
>either get killed a bunch of times trying to get gear at a relatively decent speed, or do it painfully slowly
>kill the boss and move over to the next biome
>your gear becomes worthless
>repeat

Its ok as a medium to communicate with friends if you have some degens willing to spend time farming for metal, if not then its a slog
>>
I had valheim forever and waited for 1.0 it fucking sucked. the basic basebuilding shit was awful rain went through my roof for no reason and I was wet even though I had roof covering everything but the one hole for smoke to exit. also i made walls around my base completely covering every entrance and yet still the fucking monsters were inside my base . the game failed both mechanics that were core to the game and gameplay
I was able to play dragonwilds to 100% completion with no issues with building or survival mechanics its definitely worth your time and its better made than valheim which is gimmicky slop and also valheim has absolutely no qol you have to mod in basic features that should be included
waiting on enshrouded 1.0 hopefully it will live up to the hype
>>
how does Enshrouded compare to Valheim gameplaywise?
do you have to "unlock" the next biome by getting something?
also are there snowy mountains where you can build a base?
>>
SurrounDead really needs to get fucking multiplayer up and running (or have any meaningful update at all at this point). It is the only other game that gives Valheim style vibes but I'm not touching another early access survival game until its 1.0 thanks to Valheim.
>>
>>748960362
Isn't SurrounDead abandoned ?
>>
>>748952982
>dragonwilds
lol, lmao even
>>
>>748959428
>I had valheim forever and waited for 1.0 it fucking sucked
yep a friend bought it for me week one and i really disliked it. played maybe a dozen hours total across early access and most of those were that first week. i assumed the shitty pace of added content was due to how much of the root game they had to fix/update/expand. lol nope none of that changed at all and if you played a month after it launched in Early Access, the whole first half of the game at 1.0 is basically the same as what you played years ago. i hate that so much.

Haven't played Dragonwilds.

It's somewhat grounded, you're not airdashing around and spamming magic in the game, so if you like a more down to earth vibe you should like the first 5 biomes more.
I like it solo and mp.
I especially like exploring and setting up new bases in singleplayer, in mp you're more likely to build a town together.
Building is pretty user friendly, there's a support, roofing and smoke mechanic so you're pushed into building something that makes more sense, with a proper roof and chimney.

I think if you watch a video or stream of someone with access to iron, managing their base in the meadows, and sailing you should get the idea.
