>stealth isn't required for S ranks>survival wise stealth isn't a requirement>fob activity is dead so stealth isn't needed to invade other basesWho is this game made for?
>>748955809It's the best if you've played most of the previous MGS games and found the cutscenes to gameplay ratio sickening.
>>748955886Instead of watching long cutscenes, you now have to deal with a base buliding simulator!!!!Tpp should have been ground zeros with like 9 extra dense levels like camp omega, man..
You have to make it harder on yourself, then true soul of the game shines through. A rough diamond, covered in shit. Are you brave enough to clean the shit away?
>>748955809Good luck going loud on max level FOBs.
>>748956046>Tpp should have been ground zeros with like 9 extra dense levels like camp omega, man..You fags have been repeating this for 11 years, is it like some destressing ritual for you?
>>748956046Yes, one is gameplay, the other is insufferable non sensical cutscenes featuring Kojima's manchild cartoon writing
>>748955809One thing I appreciate is actual non lethal variety. In most stealth games you get essentially three nonlethal options, some sort of tranq pistol, a tranq rifle, and a cqc tool. TPP gives you stun rounds for everything if you invest in it.Also this is going to sound backwards and it's tough for me to explain in the right words, but I appreciate how in MGSV stealth isn't the be all end all. The game doesn't overtly punish you for breaking stealth in 99% of the story missions, it gives you plenty of tools to salvage the situation if you fail, and the shooting and movement are really good. Compare this to, say, the modern hitman games where if you get compromised you might as well restart due to how janky combat is. I feel like this encourages the player to play more dynamically and experimentally and not just restart missions over and over by getting detected, and makes the stealth more fun as a result.
>>748955809>>stealth isn't required for S ranksThis is bullshit. You won't get S-rank going guns blazing. One combat alert is like -5k points. That's enough to fuck up your S-rank since you often won't do every single mission objective. Plus you get penalty for hits taken - and you WILL get hit if you go guns blazing. And the more you play, the better the AI becomes and they get NVGs and helmets/armor, there's a lot more of them, and they become a lot more aggressive as the game goes on. You will simply die if going Rambo on anything that isn't middle of nowhere outpost with 4-6 soldiers. No alerts no kills perfect stealth gives insane score boost, which is how you achieve S-rank.
>>748955809>>stealth isn't required for S ranksDegree of freedom isn't what you are rewarded for itwhat you are allowed to do and MGS5 lets you do retarded shit like smoke granade only challenge
>>748956046>Tpp should have been ground zeros with like 9 extra dense levels like camp omega, man..Yeah man, we all know that i have like 30 hours in ground zeros
>>748955809Because stealth mechanics are the best out of all stealth games so far you fucking retard. Why are you listing things that have nothing to do with stealth?
>>748956046Kek. Ground zeros was a konami cash grab attempt to make back some of the massive budget kojima already wasted. They legit just ripped those missions and area map out of TPP and sold it for 20 bucks as a teaser.
>>748956536What kind of psycho doesn't restart after getting detected...
>>748958408>wasted>80 million>greatly optimized engine>best selling game of his career>only MGS that people still play
>>748957723You can if you are quick enough, plus some missions are made for going guns blazing like the one where you have to destroy at least one APCs or the one where you defend Quiet.
>>748955809Can I mod it to use my MGSO stuff or not?
>>748955809Casual low IQ normalfags. They just run around like idiots, headshotting everyone with a tranq gun in a slow motion and achieve the highest rank. STEALTH
>>748958482I kinda like the option not to restart. It feels like * my* playthrough (even though I obviously suck) and that I have to fight through and recover from my mistakes. Games that give you the option to do so are always more fun than shadow-walking simulators.
>>748958564>You can if you are quick enoughIf you mean without alerts, then it's stealth. It's lethal stealth. It's also pretty hard without reflex mode, which also gives you score boost. Plus your suppressors wear down the more you kill. You have to be strategic about it. If you trigger combat alert, then it's not stealth and you won't get S-rank.>plus some missions are made for going guns blazingWell, yeah. But it's disingenuous to say "stealth isn't required", when these particular missions were designed as action missions. For every other mission, stealth is required if you want to get high score.
>>748958701Instead of watching cutscenes for 60% of the time?
Survive was a good game
>>748956536this take i fully agree with, so many games don't allow you to salvage your mistakes
>>748956340>clicking through menus and holding forward is gameplaykek
>>748958964Certainly more than watching cutscenes, not to mention base building is just pressing a button.
>>748956303Why would it suddenly become not true because time has gone by? Phantom Pain is a shit metal gear game.
>>748957723Literally everything you typed is wrong. The biggest weight in the scoring system is speed, you can pretty much guarantee an S rank by speedrunning a mission, also the whole "enemies counter your playstyle" is completely fake, enemies having body armor and nvgs is basically fixed no matter what you do.
>>748955809for the controls basicallyif the game just had proper level design instead of mud shacks it would be the best stealth game
>>748959174>posts the easiest mission that was designed with combat alert penalty in mindlmao
>>748959159Because it's a videogame and normal people move on, specially after a decadeYou fags got literal trauma over a videogame having no story, even though the story of MFS is non sense.
>>748959250Alright give me a mission to speed run through
>>748959296Code Talker
>>748959256>bro theres a statue of limitations on complaining about a shit game and wishing it had been betterYou sound like a dipshit
>>748959435At least do it over something worthwhile, not a franchise that's only popular because kids thought lots of cutscenes with lots of words means something is well written. In the best case scenario MGSV would still be a 6/10
>>748959598>MGSV would still be a 6/10RetardDespite all the glairing flaws it's simply fantastic moment to moment, a lot more dynamic than Hitman WOA but it's tainted forever because of the open world and lack luster campaign
>>748960018nta but Redditman mogs MGSv in every way except ost, especially in terms of level design and attention to details
ill ask this what do stealth games fans like about stealth games they are literally " make one mistake and have to stat over" meaning that last run was nothing but wasted time
>>748960590quickload
>>748955809>Why do people call TPP the best stealth game?it's stealth sandbox elements still haven't been beat so there
>>748955809Considering more than a decade later it has more players than the recently released remasters, I think its made for more people than the rest of the franchise
>>748961175oh so cheating
>>748961314Don't express yourself in such a feminine way but yes
>>748960513>RedditmanIt's an overall better package but MGS5 mogs when it comes to the sandbox aspect and how you want to approach any given mission from killing everyone, extracting every thing that exists on that map, Ghost and running and gunning like a retard
>>748959330Here
>>748955809>stealth isn't required for S ranks>survival wise stealth isn't a requirementGames aren’t exam
>>748961363>No every game should force me into the perfect play style with no wiggle room
>>748955809It's made for people who like responsive controls and well optimized framerates.
>>748961467Really sucks dick that games went in the direction of sluggish animations instead of perfect snappy shit like MGS 5
>>748961337where did you get " feminine" from three fucking words? you cunts have completely lost the plot
>>748959174>The biggest weight in the scoring system is speed, you can pretty much guarantee an S rank by speedrunning a missionThis is so true. It's annoying because the game invites you to take your time, do recon, gather resources for Mother Base and patiently ghost around so as to avoid combat. Do this though and the game is like "Ho-hum, mission accomplished Mediocre Boss." Blaze through with speedrun strats and cheese and it'll suck your dick.
>>748961597Speed is literally the most crucial factor to irl special forces operations, it checks out not wasting 12 hours on one objective.
>>748961597you get 20k score from perfect stealth, no kills and 1k per headshotyou can by all means get S if you're stealthy
>>748961597>>748961707>>748961362>>748962262Ghost is also automatic S rank if you want to take your time and execute it perfectly
>>748955809Ground Zeroes was unironically the better game of the two MGSVs. The open world aspect was a complete waste of dev time for Phantom Pain, it should have been large semi-open, well designed levels akin to Ground Zeroes instead.
>>748961338Delusional.
>>748955809MGSV is literally BUILT for modding
>>748961525The first two words, the "oh so" part. It's wishy-washy and nonconfrontational, while saying "That's cheating" would be declarative and masculine. Making an uncompromised statement directed at anon vs. posting a possible interpretation of anon which we are free to read (if it's convenient for us).
>>748961707Slow is smoothSmooth is fast
>>748962802Agreed, though I think TPP's approach could've been made more interesting by having some distractions between objectives on the map. Maybe some unmarked points of interest that rewards exploration or paying attention to the environment.
>>748964690ya plot lost
>>748959174>never did the palico passive quests to reset enemy armor
>>748958484>Great optimized engineOh yes the game that freaks out if mode then 8 guards are on screen
>the most well written, emotional and memorable part of the game is an optional easter egg side quest that most people probably didn't even discover
>>748965913It doesn't, there's mods that add side ops with a shut ton of guards. It does have a cap on texture streaming, so if you mod textures with a res too high the game can freak out, but from a developer's perspective it wouldn't be hard to raise that cap
The thing that bugs me the most about MGSV being a "stealth" game is how when you have no gun equipped, your movement is weightier and your turning circle is widerWhereas when you're aiming a gun, your movement is suddenly snapper and you have no turning circleMeaning you move better by aiming a gun than when you don't, which is totally backwards for a "stealth" game
>>748965985We're there really people that missed this? That door is out in the open and the medical platform is fairly simple in its layout. Also she is shown briefly in the "trailer" that plays after finishing chapter 1
>>748955809>Stealth isn't required for S ranks Only autuists give a shit about that
>>748966298There are a bunch of doors, and the door to this quest is not indicated as special in any way. It's easy to miss. There are no markers, nothing. And Mother Base is so boring and filled with nothingness that the game doesn't really incentivize you to explore it. It should've been a main quest or at the very least important side op that is marked yellow in your mission list. Only 6% of players on Steam collected all the old Mother Base photos, which is a requirement to complete this quest.
>>748966260It was snappier in Ground Zeroes but they changed it for some reason.
>>748966580Iirc it was the opposite, they made it slightly snappier in TPP than GZ, but I haven't played either in yearsOne thing they definitely DID take out of GZ was that you could cancel the CQC strike combo into a grab or throw at any time. It was fun to punch-punch-throw a guard for a bit of flair. For absolutely no reason they cut this out so that if you start the punch combo you can only cancel it into disarm. Annoyed me a bit
does MGS 5 ever do instant fail or is it as long as you survive?
>>748966572I see, also agree that it should've been a side quest, would've been neat to see it disappear from the side-op list after the hallucination reveal.
>>748966949Iirc you only get mission failures when important npcs, like those kids, die.
>>748966949There are a few missions where being spotted fails the mission immediately, usually harder versions of missions you've already done.
Many hours of gameplay in, I forced myself to drive a tank, jeep and all those ground vehicles. I didn't need them.
GZ is a much better stealth game if you turn off the reflex mode gimmick. TPP give you way too many overpowered tools.
