Which companions is the best and which one is the worst?
This game has exactly zero (0) good companions. People only remember the "pure" succubus (which you can choose to re-corrupt) and the evil serial killer cannibal lady.
I was tempted to pick this up recently but the smarter part of my brain, the left side, told me "No!" and I listened and I learned. It showed me memories of playing Kingmaker and how much of it is filler non-RPG gameplay.
Does Wrath have some bullshit encounter like those fucking spider swarm in Kingmaker?

Nenio is an amazing character mechanics wise, but she's kind of annoying and doesn't fit the tone or story at all, while Woljif is my personal favourite character in terms of story, banter and character growth, but I can never get him to be very good without mods for a full respec.Runners up for best and worst would probably be Daeran and Greybor respectively.

>>748955859Depends what you mean.Nenio is highly rated mechanically for being a wizard and having good quest rewards but she's insufferable unless you're a certain kind of person.Regill is widely approved of as unique and fitting to the setting but he has questionable utility in a party.Everyone hates Seelah and shes boring, but put her on a horse and she will carry you to act 3.Ulbrig is the opposite where he has a unique class and his quests give you access to a whole area with very good equipment, but he's fragile in fights.And there very strong characters like Ember and Arue that people find polarizing.There are fun characters that are moderately strong like Camelia and Daeran.And then there are just unexceptional characters that get mediocre writing like Sosiel and Greybor.And then there are also early game characters that you probably replace like Lann, Wenduag, and Woljif just because they don't offer much except for some quests.And then if you play an evil path like Lich or Swarm you'll find yourself losing party members and not always getting compensated for it.
Arue is good because she is a colossal DORK

You get a great one from the Drezen Siege, another great buyable option from the Exotic Vendor after liberating it and Woljiff comes and sells a fantastic one during Act 4. It's just lacking that Act 5 final capstone weapon to add the fianl oomph but the game might as well be beaten at that point.

Ultimately, if you want mechanical bests, it's those who can access a pet and provide party buffs that undermine enemy AC. If you want theatrical bests it's Daeren (who is the best example of neutral evil I've seen since the Tyranny MC) and Ember (who is like travelling with a VMTB Malk). Everyone else is shit. Also, too lazy to go back, find, and add this under mechanics. Camilla is the best non pet user. She can dodge tank even on the hardest difficulties while providing unique buffs. >>748955859As characters the Best good aligned is probably Ember and the best evil aligned is probably Regill. Mechanically Ember is great, both her and Nenio have potential to be absolute powerhouses. Wenduag also has great potential because you get her early and she is a fighter and fighter´s are a great starting class for all kinds of multi-classing. You get Regill and Arue too late to make them your own. The best you can do with them is the best version of what they already are. Built properly Regill can make 8 attacks per turn for example. Lann and Cammelia are hard to build. Their default classes pre-fuck them. Cam comes with a shitty druid subclass and as monk Lann is very difficult to turn into anything that´s not a short range archer. Daeran is great but, honestly, he is necessary as he is. Again, nothing you can do with him except build him as intended. You have as much input over how he turns up as you have over which ending of Mass effect you find better. Seelah is pretty useless. It´s kind of a shame. Sosiel is better than Seelah if built properly and Woljif, well... you get him pretty early but he is also pre fucked by his intial class, less than Camelia though.

Isn't the whole point of regill the subtext that he's a rigidly lawful hellknight who manifests his gnomish whimsy every time he skirts the rules of how a hellknight should behave? Like following the KC regardless of path or alignment, or his overly elaborate tests of your character that he even ropes other hellknights into?

If the spells belong to different schools, have different saving throws or different "shapes" (single target, circle, line, cone) you can select each of those characteristics. For example you can combine Baleful Polymorph and Fireball, you can select whether it's Evocation or Transmutation, whether enemies have to use their Reflex or Fortitude and finally whether it's single target or has a fireball's AoE, meaning that you can turn normally single target spells into AoE. The fusion mechanic is really fun to experiment with and see what kind of wacky combinations you can come up with.

>>748992601Magic Deceiver is giga busted, even being limited to 6th level spells still lets you do heinous shit like attaching Phantasmal Killer, Greater Dispel Magic, or Disintegrate to big aoes like Chain Lightning or Cone of Cold.
>>748993504Charlatan is the most standard, if Magic Deceiver was a separate class, which I think was the intention before making it an Arcanist, this would be the basic archetype. Magic Inventor gives huge stat bonuses from items, you can get +13 Enhancement items if you pick Trickster. Living Deity has the best early game if you pick the Nature Mystery because they start with a pet. Fake Celebrity would be busted, but unfortunately it's bugged to shit and your auras actually increase enemies' saves, I don't think this has been fixed. Razmiri Infiltrator is meh, you lose access to your glass item slot because you're forced to wear a Razmiri mask which is kind of bad. Time Manipulator is extremely powerful because you can reset your entire spellbook, and the capstone can be used an infinite number of times, and contrary to what the description might say you don't really lose your buffs when used.
