Does CRT gaming really enhance the experience, or is it just a meme? I have a spare CRT TV sitting around, all I need is a converter. Is it worth it, or is there a way to replicate the experience on my 2K display?
>>
Extremely important though you can just use shaders in Retroarch, although you need a 1440p monitor at minimum, preferably a 4K OLED monitor at best

Its an absolute fucking meme

The only advantage CRT ever had was response times and it was only ever a convern for autists in certain genres like fighting games

This but unironically. It's why we need modern monitors with retro vibes....just with better quality than pic related.

I tried this reshade crt filter and the game actually looks sick
>>

No. CRTs are only good for pre-PS2 era games (and late PS1)
In the late 90s LCDs became more affordable, and game devs began creating games with clear graphic in mind.

>does using a shitty old tv make games better
No? Why the fuck would it?
>>
>>748958746
I've played 480p games on a 1080p TV and, honestly, it's not a clean look.
>>
>>748956493
you have no idea what would i do to fix my trinitron and have it back
and it's not nostalgia, it broke last year
>>
>>748956493
You know it's funny how technology has gone full circle.
Most graphical effects have gone back to using dithering, only instead of shitty brick of a screen, it's a post processing filter that does the blurring.

the dithering on nintendo switch games is worse than any sega saturn game. I don't know why it's not criticized more beyond nintendo can do no wrong.

Cool, when that time comes can you do us a favor and stay there?
>>
>>748956493
nah those things are fucking huge, you'd probably need a new desk too
I do want a 4:3 monitor though, I almost exclusively play old games anyway

Listen anon, it doesn't "enhance" the experience. It is the experience. You can't experience retro gaming without a CRT. You didn't beat the game. That said, I have a CRT right beside my desk right now and I don't fucking use the thing. Why? Because it's outdated and inconvenient but I just can't part with the thing. I was born with these things. I used to crawl down into my basement in the dark as a kid, like some Japanese demon, and watch my cartoons on a black and white CRT sitting on a milk crate. The concrete was cold down there, and there was a bloody dead pig's head in the fridge next to my cold pudding for breakfast, but thankfully there was a small rug that really tied the horror together.

Don't use it to play modern shit like that fucking redditor. That's the meme people talk about
>>
nuttin like a dark night it’s raining out you pull out ol silent hill on the ps1 and play in on the crt

Absolutely not dude what are you huffing. Soon as component started popping up as an input unless you had svideo or unicorn unobtanium component cables for your GameCube it looked like ass especially when these beasts were the rage.
>>
it's more responsive
>>
>>748958035
it has advantage of not being sample and hold so better motion with much less blur
but these days you have lcds and oleds that mostly solve it and have much better picture quality
