Is woke in vidya actually dying out?I know this asked constantly, but it does seem even the mainstream opinion has started to sway away from them, maybe not perhaps for that exact reason. Many 'woke' games also tend to suffer from simplified if not downgraded gameplay, but were prior shielded from criticism on the political front.Seems more consistently lately that large-scale 'woke' games are flopping and are openly condemned, and even the media outlets are doing less damage control for them. Recent obvious examples being Wolverine, the Halo 1 remake, and now the new Gears of War is the current laughing stock. The fallout of the nuclear failure of Concord has seemed to finally reach the executive level and the suits are seeming to be more cagey about the political messaging. I think even the new Fable's female character got a less 'woke' redesign, made more traditionally attractive.The companies behind such games are also facing more rapid layoffs, if not total closures. The financial impact is both undeniable and severe.

I think it's mostly just games that are dying. The big AAA titles are probably going to continue to decline.

I would say Nintendo, and maybe the japanese as an overall tend to be more patient with growth, and its worked for them better (but they’re also not scott-free), whereas western companies (which now include sony) have been far more aggressive, and the whiplash from exponential investment not granting exponential returns has come home to haunt them. Teams are gutted, companies shut down, but the same devs just get shuffled around or start up their own teams and continue putting out slop. Unless people actually step up to replace them, and actually succeed at it, you will continue getting shit on.
