This game is simply not fun. People will still play it because it's free to play, but it's fundmentally not fun to play.
has good porn though
>>748975621Send me links.
>>748975513I think if I had a close friend to play it with it could be okay
>>748976079This game could potentially be fun if you played it with friends in 6x6 inhouse lobbies. The problem is, not a single person has 11 friends that are into hard knowledge check kind of games, which are also mecahnically challenging.
>>748975513I installed it last night and while it initially looks intriguing I tested out some 4x4 brawls and this game is just incomprehensible slop with no purpose or weight. It's spastic and doesn't make any sense. I have played vidya all my life and I have never seen anything this bad. Uninstalled. What is sad though that once Valve releases this game for real and implements their usual digital gambling economy retards will flock to this game as usual.
>>748975513id play it if i had a rat king main boyfriend to play it with
Street brawl is carrying this game, main game modes suck
I would like standalone Venator, Abrams and Haze games.I'm stilling waiting on my standalone Rubrick vidya
>>748976680Why do you by Rubrick vidya
>>748976765Because Rift Wizard gave me a fetish for retardedly powerful master of all wizardry.
>>748976663There's no way anyone is playing Street Brawl as their main game mode, only opening the game just for it. Maybe if you have 1 hour of gaming per week and you really like the vibes of the game for some reason. Otherwise it's a deadend, even playing dota turbo makes more sense.
>>748975513MOBAs aren't for everyone, it's okay to not like it.Probably 90% of my games are in Street Brawl and I just fuck around and don't take it too seriously.
>>748977141Do you ever improve at the game?
>>748976502There are times where it feels like my monitor powered off and I have to wait a few seconds for it to turn back on. I don't know where my hero is, what he's doing, or what's happening to him.
just like counter strike, tf2 and dota 2... it's going to be a "NFT" marketplace for third worlders
>>748977445Is that not a skill issue?
>>748976502>play the aram spam mode>surprised when there is aram spam
is street brawl like smites arena mode?
>>748975513Its really fun but I have a family and job now unlike when DOTA 2 came out and this genre is SHIT if you cannot no life it.
>>748977019Na, people love side modes.all mid modes always has a stable playerbase
>>748977619Why did you have family and a job? Are they really worth it you can't have a fulfilling gaming life anymore?
>>748975513I dislike that it's a deck builder
>>748977417Isn't every competitive game about trying to improve yourself and get better at it?You should be looking back at every match and seeing what you can fix to make yourself better. Making no attempt to learn is how you end up in brick.
>>748975513It's e-sports. It's designed for 20-year olds on Adderall. You know that ugly Asian dude from the webm people always post telling young people to stop grinding the ladder and start grinding real life? That's the target audience. It's not something you can just pick up and have fun playing, its purpose is the competitive grind for e-peen and nothing else. That's just how IceFrog is.>>748975621Not really, no. It's starting to get some attention, though.
>>748977689I still play like weekly 15 - 20 hours but if I start playing Deadlock then I will miss out on every other game for like 6 years.I still have a massive backlog from the time I played DOTA 2 only for like 8 years. I dont think it was worth it.
>>748977417>>748977767So whenever you play poker or basketball with your friends, you're thinking about how you can improve, and won't be satisfied until you're a pro poker/basketball player?
the movement in this game feels utterly fucking retarded and also feels like valve made it different just for the sake of it. i hate how clunky it is and the shitty stamina system.
>>748977919Yes, you're meant to improve even when you play poker with friends. Because when everybody is just clicking buttons randomly the point of "competitive" game is lost completely. If people on opposing teams don't try to win and get better than each other, it becomes a farce.
>>748977767MOBA is a genre that genuinely takes no skill what so ever. It's arbitrary knowledge check the genre. Applicable in no other game because every other game has its own arbitrary stat multipliers, farm techs that grant you the almighty unfair stat advantage to screw over your opponent and win fights, even if they perform better in duels than you. This genre is specifically designed for low skill noobs to feel good about themselves by bashing their heads at walls until they learn every retarded arbitrary detail and scream at teammates every time you lose.pic rel average moba "pro". 0 competence in any other game btw.
>>748977919Outside of the last part about trying to be a pro, yes.Do you really wanna live a life where you stay stagnant and never improve or get better at anything?
Mid game in Deadlock feels so fucking random. Laning is dynamic and overall is pretty enjoyable, you take the trades, you want to push towers, it's fun. And then you just hit boxes and push waves for 15-20 minutes, occasionally fighting for rift. It's so uninspired, the game blatantly has a GAPING HOLE instead of satisfying midgame. In dota it's less jarring because you can think strategically about macro and, genuinely, have a bunch of options on how to influence the game. In Deadlock 12 people just vacuum clean the map, and pros just do it 3x as efficient. It's retarded.
>>748978106>Do you really wanna live a life where you stay stagnant and never improve or get better at anything?NTA but I think most sane people chose to get better at important things like real hobbies, career, sports etc not shitty skinnerbox MOBA games in the big 2026
>>748978285Okay? I try to get better at things in life other than Deadlock you pessimistic fuck.If you don't like MOBAs then don't play MOBAs, simple as.
>>748978285Getting better in "real sports" is absolutely insane. Nobody does that. It ruins your body, wastes decades of your time with 30x times the stress of getting better at videogame. No, just going to the gym is not sports, it's just taking care of yourself.
>>748978268>In Deadlock 12 people just vacuum clean the map, and pros just do it 3x as efficient. It's retarded.never have i seen a better summary for an entire genre
>>748978441Running is a sport, cycling is a sport, climbing is a sport. All of these you get naturally better without even trying.
>>748978497>All of these you get naturally better without even tryingHow do you get better without trying? Just by repeating?
>>748977994But all that matters is that you're competitive with the people you play with. If you train to get better and they don't, then you'll kick the shit out of them over and over again and they'll stop playing with you. That's why your parents told you "it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game." And your friends probably aren't going to study how to get better because it's just a game and they have more important things to spend their time on. So if nobody trains, then everyone stays at the same level and are always competitive with each other. But is this the same with strangers in a video game? Yes, because of matchmaking. The game tries to match you with people of your skill level. If you improve, the game just goes, "Oh, sorry, you're in the wrong bracket, let me bump you up." Wow. Now instead of being in Vague Label VII you're in Vague Label VIII and the game take even more effort if you don't want to lose a bunch. Yippie. But at least you won a few more games than normal. :^)>>748978106It's a game.
vore with Rem!
>>748978626>It's a game.It's life advice.
>>748978605>Just by repeating?ye?your muscles adapt to it and so does your body and mind without tryingyou dont need to focus on getting better, just doing it makes you better if you can run for 5 miles max the first time you run as a hobby and keep doing that 5 miles daily for a year the next time you try to run to your max it will be more than 5 without ever practicing running more than before
>>748978626But the game makes no sense if people aren't trying to outdo each other. It literally loses it's meaning. If you play football with your friends 5x5, and your goalkeeper is just laying on the grass chilling leaving the goal exposed, it's not a real game anymore. But he's just enjoying it the way he wants, right? And not sweating, that's for losers.
>>748975513Valve should've just made Day of Defeat 2. No, I don't count Day of Infamy, that game was a slow piece of shit. We need something like DoD again, a wave-based territory control shooter that is fast, but not too arcadey. Sadly Valve completely fucked it up with DoD 1.0 back then. Beta 3.1 was just an awesome mod, so many cool features. Valve took it, removed a ton of features, added a fucking minimap that took a third of the screen, made it uglier, replaced all sound effects and ambience from movies with dogshit homemade ones and the new player models just felt bad. Nobody will understand this rant if you didn't play during Beta 3.1 .. DoD:S was an improvement gameplay and sound-wise, but they cut so many essential guns like the K43 and Grease Gun that the available weaponry felt lacking. Plus they removed the Garand rifle bash, the only good addition that came with DoD 1,0.
>>748978750Is this different from Deadlock?
>>748978848I dont know I dont play games
>>748978903Get out of this board.
>>748978837I have never ever played Day of Defeat. It's a nice thought that there's a Valve game I have never even touched and have no idea how it feels. Is it alive in any capacity right now?
>>748977019I only play street brawl because I cant be fucked to play 3 40 minute stomps in a row where literally nothing I do matters from minute 1.
>>748979259I haven't played in DoD:S in years, all I know from reading the forums is that it's hosted by 50 year old control freaks and troons and the servers themselves are over-modded with plugins. You will possibly never experience the real thing again. Maybe downloading a bunch of bots will do it, but it's just not the same.
>>748978605>>748978750Rote learning is real but doesn't actually amount to much. The real advantage of repetition is that you keep rolling the dice, which means you increase the odds of running into more novel problems which you can individually learn from. Obviously it's smarter to just be taught or study novel problems as that's a huge time saver and it's what professionals do. People drive cars every day but they never become professional drivers; you type on a keyboard every day but I bet you've never exceeded 160 WPM - because that takes intentional effort, not just repetition. So yes you do become better over time by just playing, but you won't reach the higher tiers that way, that requires Asian parents.
>>748979387Is DoD source superior version to DoD?
>>748978784There's a world of difference between trying to win in a game and spending your free time studying VODs, labbing and filling notebooks with homework. When I play poker or basketball with my friends, do you think I'm NOT trying to win? Of course I am; they want me to, too. Unless I'm obviously way better than them, which doesn't happen with those two examples. But if I play video games with them, of course I hold back, I'd win 95% of the time and that's not fun. Studies of rats playing show if the smaller rat can't beat the larger rat at least 30% of the time, it stops wrestling with him. Games need to be fun and losing that much isn't fun.
I like playing it.
>>748979651That's why you balance teams by skill level. It's unrealistic and just weird to stop someone from improving if they want to. If we take 5x5 football example again, you put Messi and 4 noobs in one team, and 5 average players in another. If it doesn't work out, you adjust.
This game isnt for the employed like most A.S.S.F.A.G.G.O.T.S. I like some of the character designs and interactions but it needs way more side modes. I am sick and tired of the skinnerbox cancer and Street Brawl almost wins me over to actually pick up but getting castrated for learning a game that is ever evolving and not finished but its ALSO trying to be an esport is so fucking cancerous I would rather have 500 levels of chemo laced with bullet ant venom than to play a single match. Just fucking stop with the esports bullshit, please. Its infested some games i used to play and some of em actually died for it (Splitgate tried to lean more into a esports scene despite the casual playerbase and got neither)
>>748979651Okay but what if you're the one losing 95% of the time? Wouldn't you want to get better so you can beat them more consistently? This whole discussion is retarded anyway. If you make no attempt to get better at anything, whether it's a game like Deadlock or your ability to run five miles without passing out and dying on the sidewalk, you should always be looking for things in your life to get better at. Unless you're okay with where you are and are fine with staying there with potential threat of deterioration.
>>748979624I will let these videos speak for themselves. This is Beta 3.1, before Valvehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLCHte2DJ3oThis is what Valve made out of it after buying the mod. >>748975513I wanted to like this game because the characters are really enjoyable but MOBAs are just not for me.
>>748975513It's for people who finally felt like playing another game after putting thousands of hours into Dota2.If you don't like mobas then it's not for you. Street Brawl and the PvE mode won't change this as they will never be the focus of the game's development.
>>748975513is scout an ancient eldritch being?
>>748980159PvE mode will be the next big thing unironically though. It's got a profilic roguelike dev as a lead, and this game has a lot of casuals who really want to play this game, but dont like mobas. If pve mode is any good, it'll blow up like fortnight because people just like Valve and characters THAT much.
>>748975513Sweet baby inc woke game, one of the most shilled games on /v/ but mods refuse to delete these generals because valve pays them
>>748978268The only way to actually fix this problem is to remove all the movement slop from the game, it's the single thing that brings down this game that would otherwise be really fun and enjoyable to play.Sadly I don't think that will ever happen, instead entire game will just revolve around everyone flying around the map and farming stuff while nothing happens.
>>748980436Will autistic pros drop the game if they removed every move tech from the game except for slides, dash jump, double jump, and heavy melee propel?
>>748980537Well if you ask /v/ they always says how it's super fun and amazing and you are filtered if you don't enjoy it.I really enjoy the idea of Deadlock and like it was described in the first message the laning phase is really enjoyable as all the mechanics, character designs(game) and all that really shine. Then afterwards it turns into shit where everyone just flies around and slides all over the map and only time someone dies is them being stunlocked from ulties or something as they can just fly away whenever.

>>748981051This is a competitive game. You'll always be worse than the pros. I'll never be as good as some Korean player at RTS games, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying them. It's the same here.
>>748980436watching high level games is genuinely nausiating, its like absolute peak zoomer zoom zoom zoom slop where everyone is flying around at the fucking speed of light. nothing about it seems remotely "skillful" other than who can time their spacebar key presses against walls the best like they are playing a fucking rythm game.its just so over the top how fast you can be and how dextrous you can become if you spend time playing that it just completely turns me off from ever wanting to bother, and that is coming from someone who made an entire series of optimal solider & demo rollouts for comp team fortress 2 back in the day.
so is this like dota 2?
>>748981220Exactly and I know lots of people that feel the same.Like I understand there's people that like all that stuff, but combine that with all the MOBA stuff the rest of the game just doesn't work out.MOBA kind of games are for people that like more methodical, strategic and proper gameplay. Not just zooming around like zoomers.
>>748979839>That's why you balance teams by skill levelThat's what matchmaking does. If you improve, you end up tricking the game. You win against a bunch of people who shouldn't have needed to play against you until your rank goes up and you're back where you should be. I just play the game and I'm pretty much always where I belong, playing against the people of my skill level. You read this and come away from it thinking I'm the bad guy? How?>It's unrealistic and just weird to stop someone from improving if they want toLiterally no one said this.>>748979943>Okay but what if you're the one losing 95% of the time? Wouldn't you want to get better so you can beat them more consistently?Depends. If I actually like the game and want to play with him, I'd try to get him to teach me. If he didn't want to, I'd let him beat me for a little bit until he gets bored then never play with him again. "It's how you play the game" and he's being a poor sport. It doesn't make me happy, I'm going to go do something else.>Unless you're okay with where you are and are fine with staying there with potential threat of deterioration.Everyone deteriorates.
The writing difference between other moba/hero shooters and this is staggering. It becomes so apparent when you mix interactions like this.https://x.com/Loudwindow/status/2106406742540366170?s=20
>>748975513>want to break your wrists playing a moba plus the wrist breaking of actually aiming shit in a shooterYep
>>748981447The writing in Deadlock is peak tumblr/reddit style. Same shit plagues all the new Dota events and crap.
>>748981376>If you improve, you end up tricking the game.I fundamentally don't understand what do you mean by this. I get that everyone has a place in matchmaking and some people just stay at the same rank for 30k hours. But how is it "tricking" the game? It's playing it as intended. It's accomodated for. Tricking would be stomping noobs, like smurfs going to lowest elo just to destroy them with no chance of retaliation.
>>748981308>MOBA kind of games are for people that like more methodical, strategic and proper gameplay.League is not that, and it is the "king" of the genre.

>>748977767How do I do that when the matchmaker is so bad that one game you go 10-0 and the other 0-10? I've literally won games where I bought 0 items and I just kept crying in allchat that it doesn't matter.

>>748981787Indian AI programmers, unironically.
>>748980436The mobility is honestly bizarre. I get why it's such a pull for people, they're excited to play this game with crazy mobility, but it contributes to the game being such an unreadable mess. I could never play this game myself but I try to watch streams instead and I just can't tell what the fuck is happening. I can watch MOBAs and FPSs just fine, but combining the two with crazy movement tech just makes every moment a visual clusterfuck. It also just doesn't make sense thematically. Why do occult urbanites all move like ninjas? It would make more sense if you had to level up or buy stuff to get that level of mobility instead of it just being the default. But if people are having fun, then it's a moot point.Looking at the new map, you can really tell how much they tried to put not only character and visual diversity into it to make it just a fun place to look at and run through, but also all the little holes in the walls and twists and turns are obviously meant to be the urban, three-dimensional translation of juking through trees in Dota. The problem is characters are so fucking fast, I don't think you can really appreciate it. Stuff like that matters more in a slower game, where you can spend a minute hiding in a corner, or take a moment to run your eyes across the scenery. That's not this game./dlg/ sounds like it hates this update (every update) and I can get why. This game is pure hypersonic sweat. They would probably prefer an Orange map. Like how fighting game players want nothing but FD. A flat plane with no bells or whistles.
>>748981447>those breaths in every sentenceis this porn?
>>748981787You're meant to improve in the long run. Some games will be close to unwinnable, some will be close to unlosable. But some will be decided specifically by YOU. If you have 52% winrate you'll just get higher rank, period.
>>748981897Bro there's people in Eternus with below 50% winrate. My point still stands: how the hell am I supposed to quantify if I am doing the right choices or not when I am just 1 player out of 12 in this fucking matchmaker of an ass.
>>748981875What does "they would probably prefer an Orange map" mean?
>>748975513
>>748981957You use your head and think and make hypotheses.
It will forever shit me that people will be posers talking about Quake with how good it feels to go fast and shit before calling any game with a movement system "zoom slop".I do recognise the difference between something like UT and Ultrakill, but it feels like any form of momentum control (Which Valve games have historically been good at) gets shunned. Hell, they started to reduce the amount of spots you can do stuff like edge boosts and made some geometry completely uninteractable.
>>748981376>If you try to get better at things you're a cuckservative.I don't even know what you're arguing. Are you implying that trying to learn and improve is a waste of time? I'm not saying you have to be the best, just make mild improvements progressively throughout your life.
>>748975513The movement tech you need to learn outside of the game on youtube to be actually good is an issue.Setting and the little bit of lore they built up is absolute KINO though. Would be interested in a good PvE mode.

>>748980370This is a /v/alve board and Deadlock is low in wokeness (but it's getting worse).>>748981561Most people praise the writing and voice overs, but I find them pretty cringey. It's weird because TF2 and Dota 2 have tons of iconic voice lines, but the most recent Dota hero did catch flak for being a fat frog who just sounds like some random dude.
The movement system isn't that fucking unintuitive, they already nerfed the real exploitive shit like cornerboosting and edgeboosting and will be keeping an eye on any new physics exploits in the future.Sliding carries forward momentum, speed is generally retained with airtime, airstrafing and bhopping are FPS staples that are already hard nerfed to casualize the game.Do we not like source movement and Ultrakill Stamina?
>>748981984Like "cp_orange" from tf2. The test map phase for source games where everything is grey and orange in a void with zero artistic flourish
OP is based and correctAnons ITT complaining about movement don't realize how much worse the game would be if everyone was equally slow instead of equally fast. The more efficient players (read: more autistic) would still clear the map faster, but average games would take 60 minutes instead of 40 and feeders would have even less chance of escaping.

>>748982048See this only makes it worse: because the matchmaking is shit people just make retarded assumptions on if they did the right thing or not. The mechanics support this retardness too. The best example of this is people who arrive late to every fucking fight and because they get 5x more gold from 1 kill if they arrive late and die right after they end up with more networth than their team and they just think hmmmm I must be doing the right thing because I have most gold. xdddd

>>748981575Matchmaking's purpose is to match you with people of your skill level. Its purpose isn't to be climbed, that's just something you can do. Just like how a scale exists to tell you how much you weigh, but it's agnostic as to whether you take a diet or not. But matchmaking can't actually tell how good you are at the game, it can only tell how much you win and if you win too much it rationalizes you must need better opponents. That's all. It needs you to beat people first. And it's not a big deal, I was just throwing it out there because you're trying to paint me as a bad person for being "lazy" when I'm just bringing the same me the game's expecting, while you're bringing someone who improved outside the game and is not expecting. So now the matchmaking system has to catch up to you by watching you wreck people first. Am I really the bad one here? I'm fine with agreeing neither of us are shitty people and we're just having fun in our own ways, but if I had to call one of us poor sport, I'm pretty sure it's not me.>>748981984Orange was a series of custom TF2 maps (I guess inspired by some DoD map) that were practically barren outside a few gray and orange geometry. I think pic related is the original map and I got it from a Steam post calling it the most popular fanmade TF2 map of all time. And that might be true (at least the most popular to never become official later on). Even I played it every now and then back in the day because it was easy on the eyes and fun to just run straight into a gun fight. It was also fun to go inside the enemy respawn...
>>748983565who even cares that much? Ive played both, I enjoy both
Compared to Dota's closed beta this game is doing horrendously and at no point did Dota ever do that "unlimited" instant invites effectively making this game an open beta. The numbers were awful so they panic added street brawl (nice another gamemode when the first one isn't even finished) and the numbers are still shit so they are adding ANOTHER game mode with that ridiculous Risk of Rain PVE idea. I wish Valve would just go back to making games we actually want to play. This game is going to be another Flop.

>>748983932I have never ever implied you're being bad or a bad sport or anything like that, I suppose you're mixing up different anons. Still, I think it's only natural that some friend groups have autists that learn the game like it's their jobs, and some play casually. And it's fine for them to play together once in a while with some adjustments like skill-based team distribution.
>>748984138Player numbers on Valve f2p games is as reliable as Chinese numbers.
>>748977994trying to win an individual game and trying to get better in the long run are not necessarily the same thing. lots of people who play party games like mario kart or super smash bros (with items on) are trying to win. but they don't give a fuck if they improve in the long run. it's not important to them. it's just a game. they try to improve at life, and they take some time every now and then to hop on a casual game for fun (and try to win) but they do not give a single fuck about improving.>>748979943no, nobody gives a fuck if you lose 95% of the time in your little video game. it's just a game. if you are trying to improve at it, that's escapism. join the real world.

>waaah this game sucks because its too hard and I get pwned by better playersThere's games for people like you. Go play some casual garbage like Witcher 3 or Dark Souls.
Why is box mechanic even there in the first place? It's the most pathetic thing that was invented. You can't just naturally traverse the map, you're always worried about KILLING BOXES. All the fucking time, 24/7. It feels like artificial bloating. If you remove boxes, what happens? Game will feel too empty?
>>748982456No, I've just been seeing a lot of arguments recently about how much of your life should be spent on work and play and there's a political dimension to it. Improving is work. I don't see the point of working your ass off just so you'll get placed in a different matchmaking bracket. I know from Dota 2 that Immortal players do not enjoy the game more than Herald players. The only reason to improve is that you really want to for some reason, and I don't have that.>>748982951>Sliding is a fundamental part of movement in Deadlock. >>748975513There is one character they should add to the game and that character is Mendoza
>>748984449Without boxes you'd need a lot more neutrals on the map and the game balance would heavily favor people who can kill neutrals. Boxes allow heroes to roam between lanes to get kills and not completely fall behind just because one of the ganks didn't play out.
>>748984484>I don't see the point of working your ass off just so you'll get placed in a different matchmaking bracket. Then don't. Improve something else in your life. Nobody's twisting your arm and forcing you to get better at something you don't care about.

There's no point in playing puzzle games either, it's work, just look up all the answers! And yet... people choose to do this on their own.I understand your position mostly but I'm still convinced that some people (mostly mentally happy normies) actually enjoy work and find it fulfilling. And some would CHOOSE to do work they want to do for peanuts instead of getting a lot of money doing some fake project manager job.

>>748984449It's another source of income that gives people a way to farm up outside of lane when on the move or when getting poked out, especially early. Since boxes and slot machines spawn in the same place at the same time it also creates focal points on the map for people to pick fights. If there were no boxes, you'd have no easy way to level the field early game when you're losing your land or when you rotate to gank/push tower. In theory boxes are a good mechanic, in practice they create more problems than they solve by giving the hyper efficient players more souls to vacuum up even faster than if they were just winning their lane

People don't want to "get good" on Deadlock because the top play of this game is just awful and is not fun. There's no fun in just flying and zooming around in a game that people pick up because they want to shoot at things and play a cool character. The gameplay loop looks totally different between a casual player and a Timmy e-sport wannabe player.Compared this to something like Dota when the gameplay are kind of the same between casuals and pros, but the different is in skills rather than abusing retarded mechanics that's unfun and impossible to find unless you watch 10h of youtube videos.

>>748984780I get that, but puzzle games have an ending. I play sudoku every day. It's fun. There's a challenge, you overcome it. But in a MOBA, shit's just too complicated. There's 10 or 12 people on the map all moving in real time across 30-60 minutes. It would take me a long time to just map out or research what normal farm rates and builds are before I could then figure out something myself, and even then I wouldn't know it worked until I had a good sample size (hundreds of games). That's a lot of fucking work. Is that really worth it? I don't find that fun. Making builds isn't really that fun. In an RPG, I'd want to just use whatever thematically fit the character, and in single-player game, you can intuit what an 8/10 build would be at a glance. But this isn't an RPG or single-player game, it's co-op PvP which means you need to try to be better than others. But at that rate it's easier to just look up other people's builds that everyone already knows works and try to execute it better. That's not really "fun" because you yourself aren't doing shit, but I'm caught between a rock and a hard place. I'm not spending hundreds of hours trying to write a better guide than the pros. This one video game can't be my life, dude.>>748985258>In a friendly game>while in a real gameReal games are friendly. A game is by definition something friendly. Games are not work. You should feel bad for losing, sure, you should want to win at the game, but you're not getting paid for it. It's not work and shouldn't be treated as such.If one of my friends spent the week practicing how to be a better basketball player and showed up playing like LeBron James, we'd kick him from the group. He should obviously be playing with some other people, not us.

>>748981220This is the "long car ride" of FPS games where you do a dull monotonous thing you can't meaningfully speed up yet still requires your full attention for 60 minutes a pop, because all these optimizations mostly amount to tiny incremental advantages. Movement shooters can be fun but you kind of need a game mode that's easy to understand, easy to follow and easy to achieve, so there's always a sense of progress in the game state. It doesn't really make sense for this ADHD movement tech slop to be 90% in service of optimizing mundane moba farm patterns and macro map movement instead of doing actual plays with it.It just makes the game dull to watch and grueling to play.

Deadlock has some atrocious matchmaking. I've never seen matchmaking this bad. At least in Dota 2 I get balanced games more often than shit games, and even the shit game I can carry. But in Deadlock I constantly get retards with below 100 hours that don't help each other, don't get Rejuv when it's obviously time for it, feed their fucking dicks off in lane instead of farming, and have no concept of not taking fair fights and being aware of your mini-map and teammate HP. I can't even play hard carries because my team feeds faster than I can realistically farm. You can't do shit on Seven if there's a giga-fed Yamato and Lash raping your butt in jungle every respawn. It's retarded because I love this game and it has so much potential but this "peasant" closed beta client clearly doesn't have a properly working matchmaking system. It's been this way since the game leaked in 2024 actually. What the fuck is IceFrog's problem? I know they have a lot of work to do in other areas but they will lose players for this shit.

Just watch players running around and they're constantly hopping, sliding, dashing, now their character is sideways because they're jumping off a wall that they were close enough to I guess. It's not intuitive or normal and it looks silly. And like I said, I don't know why a giant rat can do all these things.>You go fast by slidingJust like real life! It definitely looks cool and smooth to see people constantly scraping their ass on the ground. That makes sense. It must be an occult 40s thing...
>>748996030you don't actually go fast by sliding, you can slide when you're going fast but you have to bunnyhop slide or else you'll grind to a halt after 2 seconds
>>748985071Turn the wrong direction and slam on the gas?
>>748977019I only started playing b/c Brawl was added and I only play Brawl. I'm interested in other potential modes, but have no desire to touch the main mode.
>>748988052If you're kicking him from the group for being too good, it sounds like you're trying to balance the competitiveness of your game and not trying to have a good time with a friend. That's counterintuitive to your own point about things not being too competitive. It shouldn't matter if you're getting rolled because you're just enjoying your time with friends no? Ngl though you sound like a dogshit friend if you kick friends out of your group for being too good irrelevant of anything else though.
>>748975513I'd have fun if my pc could run it without dropping to 20fps
>>748996554>Sliding allows you to gain momentum down slopesSounds like going fast.>and to conserve already gained momentum to gain further distanceBasically the same as going fast.>After executing the slide, you will eventually decelerate to a complete stop. Cancelling the slide before you reach speeds slower than walking by releasing the duck button is advised. So sliding is a compromise in that it slows you down towards the end, but you can cancel it. So...>One unique property of sliding is that while sliding, you have infinite ammunitionDo you want to defend this, too?>>7489970241. It's common for friends to not want to do certain activities with a particular friend due to the way they act during that activity. You don't have to stop being friends with them. I don't know why I have to explain this to you, do you not have parents?2. If you're deliberately rolling your friends, then you're the bad friend.3. I've been that friend. There are video games that I slaughter my friends in. Do you know what I do? Do I tell them to git gud? No, that'd be a shitty thing for a friend to do. I sandbag so they actually stand a chance. I play low tier characters or builds or agree not to use certain strategies that I know what just end in the game. Why would I want to just shit on them and end the game? That's not fun. No one wants to play games with someone who does that, they'll just quit the game. That's why SBMM is so popular in multiplayer games, people will quit if they're just showing up to get eaten by better players.I feel like I'm explaining all of this stuff to an alien, like you've never had friends or played video games before. This is all basic shit.
>>748975513i will reinstall when they finally add the risk of rain mode
>>748984138lmao of course valve knows this game cant fail they will add whatever the game needs to make it a hit at this pointdota 2 was truly the last game from the old valve guard
>>748975513Tried it awhile ago and agree, it is a MOBA with the worst aspects of MOBAs. Very heavy burden of knowledge, a fuckton of stats that barely matter or completely matter all mixed, over an already complex movement and action-ish gameplay but with damage drop off at distances making it even stranger
>>748975513Honestly I only enjoyed it during the first months. All the nerf changes for previous builds ruined it for me.
If they want the movement to be super fast they should just make it vq3 with double jumps and ramp slides and wall kicks instead of whatever the fuck piecemeal gimmicks it is now.
it's very fun, it's the best moba by a milesorry you suck and or are retarded or whatever
>>748985367specifically the bitch was meant to marry him just for power, she never loved him only the status but now they are trying to make it seem like she actually had feelings. its random and out of nowhere
>>748975513I think it's a solid enough game, I just dislike mobas so I haven't played it much. The team fight mode is alright but I feel like I'm playing like, the equivalent of old League 3v3s
>>748996030you might be the biggest retard on /v/ at this current moment, congrats retard
