It's like how MMOs have both great stories and tons of dogshit at once. Characters also don't have "cultural impact" because they constantly put out new ones. Even then the most popular characters in popular gachas that actually have good backstories aren't gonna be talked about outside of gacha communities because video game communities don't wanna hear about gachas anyway so at most you just see the art.

Qureate with the Bunny Garden games is close. But I won't pretend it's as good as gacha. Scenes are less sexy and a lot of the lewd is communicated through a visual novel style. The character models are also a bit worse. But it's the closest thing we have as far as I can tell.
