What's your take on prebuffing and presummoning before a fight? What's your take on turn-based mode?
kingmaker is $5 right now but i'm still playing wotr.turn based mode is slow as hell. i usually start a hard fight with it but as long as you're prebuffed real time is better. the prebuffing is really annoying though. just turn down the difficulty if you get tired of it desu.the shit that gets me is some enemies being immune to literally everything and weak to nothing. the difficulty is all over the place and it's poorly paced.yeah you can buff around it/use metamgic and hexes and shit but it's a lot to learn and keep track of.
>>748980071I meant more along the lines of "is prebuffing cheating?"your casts are meant to be limited, and you're not supposed to know there's a boss fight coming up. if you pre-spending some of your limited casts because you're using knowledge from outside your current save to know it's gonna be worthwhile, what's the point
>>748980071Eh, BlackWater is the only Quest/Area that really sticks out to me in that way. It is a bit silly when you get to the enemies that many players can only kill with coup de grĂ¢ce, a mechanic that is very easy to overlook.>>748979812I prefer turn-based, but I also try to avoid the melee outflank deathball strats that really lean on prebuffing and benefit more from rtwp. Magic Deciever is by far my favorite WotR for that reason. Having the power and tools to just fucking end whatever situation your in feels great.
>>748979812Most buffs I care about have pretty long duration, and there are extend wands, so I don't really mind prebuffing. E.g., mage armor lasts forever. Also, many buffs can be applied to the entire team. Like Good Hope. It only gets annoying when there are some specific enemies you must buff everyone against with an individual buff. E.g., death warding the whole team against specters.
>>748980071Playful darkness is an entirely optional boss, though. It's probably the most optional boss in the entire game, in fact, because you can come back at any time, and you walk by it both on your way to the abyss and also on your way back.
>>748980602>cheatingNo. Pathfinder games are built with pre-buffing as an assumption. Especially at higher difficulties. Enemies often have absurdly high raw stats that demand you to be stacking every advantage you can. But on the other hand you can always just turn the difficulty down.
>>748980602The game assumes you are buffed. Enemies often have permanent duration buffs and inflated stats. You will get your shit pushed in if you dont pre buff, but if you take this to its limit and apply every buff you cant at high levels you will stomp the enemy. The concentration mechanic from 5e has some merits even if it isnt perfect.
>>748980602>"is prebuffing cheating?" Lots of bosses and tough enemies come prebuffed, so why shouldn't you?
>What's your take on prebuffing and presummoning before a fight?i LOVE it.just try Pillars of Eternity, if you think i am lying.Sawyer is dumb cuck.
