OLED ruined me.
Gaming on a non-OLED screen is actually detrimental to my mental health. Pic related is my secondary VA panel monitor.
This isn't black. This isn't even gray, it's actually almost paper white in some spots for fucks sake.

Most people who recommend OLED never used an OLED, or downplay its issues because of sunk cost fallacy.
I got the 280hz 4th gen tandem oled and the vertical banding on grey backgrounds is way worse than anything you'll read on the internet. Shills will say that the banding is only visible on uniform grey backgrounds, but that's a load of horseshit. It's very visible in all dark content, both games and movies. And heck, I see it vaguely in bright colored content too, like in blue skies. It's so distracting that I ended up going back to IPS.
The OLED apologists will then try to gaslight you that this issue is only on some bad models, or they'll tell you to buy QD-OLED instead of WOLED. Don't believe those devils. Do your research - you'll find people complaining about vertical banding on almost every OLED monitor.

Same. I find it hard to enjoy my Switch 2 because of it. Every other display in my house is OLED. Monitors, my wife's monitors, livingroom TV, bedroom TV, phones, chinkhelds, weather station screen, laptop, and Steamdeck. With the exception of my 16:9 1080i 34" Sony CRT I guess. Every other display tech is just WILDLY inferior it is like the screen is shitting into my eyes.

Issues that can be fixed with the flip of a switch or closing curtains unlike the unavoidable problems of WOLEDs. Also the banding is almost totally gone on newer RGB WOLEDs proving it was an issue related to the inclusion of the White Subpixel on older-gen panels.

People are just retarded goycattle. They either believe in the fabricated consensus or get gaslighted into thinking that the OLED issues aren't a big deal. Zero critical thinking capacity. They get paid to overwhelm the user with information they don't need nor understand. The user gets confused and thinks the monitor must be good if it scored well in the metrics the user doesn't understand, and the issues that were mentioned must be minor since the reviewer spent little time talking about them.

It's just not worth it, bros. The abyss stares back.

How fucking DENSE are you, god fucking damnit. You don't need an HDR capable screen, or image board or WHATEVER to be able to see that there is a certifiable measurable difference between HDR and SDR. Holy fucking shit

They just solved micro led this year and are now selling it to the public(for insane prices) once production really gets going the price will come down and be a true oled competitor. Micro rgb is just a slight upgrade over mini led and isn't making waves.

>solved micro led
They haven't. It is just the Chinese started producing it so it doesn't matter that micro LED arrays require hand production. Sony is still pumping automation with truckloads of money but not there yet. That's why they shifted to miniRGB for now.
Meanwhile OLEDs are about to get INSANE with the new inkjet printing process. Any missing issues with volume/brightness are 100% gone once production panels get out the door on inkjet and they reduce cost to produce by 900%.
Even IF MicroLED found a market, it doesn't matter anymore. Higher end OLED panels literally printed out of an inkjet printer are about to collapse the market and make it everyday technology.

Nigger that looks completely oversaturated, you have no fucking clue what you are doing
While yes HDR allows for true 10-bit color space, the most noticeable effect of HDR is the ability to dynamically adjust the luminance of the entire scene in real time.
If you want to make an analogy, SDR would be like listening to music where every note and instrument was played at the same volume, and HDR is what gets you quiet parts and loud parts in the same piece
>>
>>748992667
Modern FALD MiniLEDs look like the top picture in a pitch black room because they literally turn off the backlight
The tighter the zones the better the effect with smaller objects on screen to the point where its only noticeable in fringe scenarios like star fields

oled and 160hz are probably the two biggest upgrades that benefited my gaming experience.
>>
>>748998906
I wonder how many games actually utilise the wider gamuts 10bit allows for rather than just "srgb, but brighter".
>>
>>748999061
I guarantee the majority of people would fail a double blind test of 144hz vs 160hz and beyond
>>
This is complete bullshit.
I watch most movies and tv shows on my OLED TV and that hasn't changed how I feel about my VA monitor.
Outside of side by side comparisons it really doesn't bother me at all.
>>
>>748999113
Very, very few games are actually designed with proper HDR in mind from the get-go
Fortunately you can use hacks like RenoDX to brute force true wider gamut in games, whether or not they were designed to look that way.

The kind that never owned one.
Everything I own is OLED

You're supposed to not be staring at a screen in the dark, if you have ambient lighting in the room you genuinely don't notice the backlight on LCD monitors. OLED TVs could be worth it, I'd consider one but the non-oled lg I bought in 2021 is overbuilt and has like 2000 nits so it looks insane.

Some of the best advice you can be given, is to ignore 90% of what /v/ says

I have no idea why I even bothered to come back to this shithole.

Most people on 4chan LARP. They get their opinions from YouTubers, as smartphones are the only electronic devices they own. There's cases to be made for OLED and MiniLED, and the zealots usually have tried neither, but picked a side in a war. Flags would solve a lot of problems on /v/, which is why it doesn't have them. Everyone says it's Indians, but I'd put money on South Americans and Eastern Europeans.

Any monitors out there that doesn't spy on you?

>>

I don't have problems with VA, IPS, or whatever
OLED are so dim, the effective infinite contrast ratios don't really bear out - nevermind the state of HDR is a travesty
Barely anyone supports it, and it's fucking dogshit without HDR10+, or whatever the THX closed nonsense is.

Either way, no one supports either, so it all just a waste of time

Now taking the high FPS and high-refresh motion clarity pill on the other hand. THAT is something you can realize right now, and makes the idea of gaming at 60fps seem like 20
there is no way I will keep up with the technology to sustain it.
>>
why does no one talk about how fucking fragile OLED screens are?
this is how you know no one on here actually owns one, just fucking breathing on the thing will scratch it
I have a fucking panic attack trying to clean it and you have to use alcohol to get off smudges because using any pressure at all even with a microfiber will scratch the shit out of it and it just feels so fucking wrong using rubbing alcohol on a screen
people say distilled water but that just spreads shit around and makes a bigger smudge

Those aren't HDR and SDR images. They're SDR and SDR images. They might've been HDR at one point, but that was lost during the conversion to SDR.

What you actually see in these kinds of images is actually an equivalent SDR vs LDR presentation, which is meant to demonstrate the difference you WOULD see on an HDR screen.
