What's wrong with wanting to make a living from your work?
>>
I don't even understand video game prices. Games used to be super expensive. Now they are cheaper even though the making of them has gotten more expensive?
I wish that would apply to everything. Food prices just go up every other week. But video game prices just go down.
>>
>>748987928
Food is a finite resource, to sell more copies of food you need to make more food. More people buying games costs them 0 and makes them more money. The real reason why they don't increase prices is because they expect to make less money due to all the people who will refuse to buy it. That's why they keep whining in interviews and social media instead of just raising the damn price. There's literally nothing stopping them from doing it, they just want you to ask for it first.
>>
so it's not just vavra who's an annoying faggot who needs to shut his mouth everyone at warhorse just sucks
>>
>>748987327
It’s not :) now let’s talk about video game prices being too high.
>>

>Food is a finite resource
It is but I don't think people understand how much food goes to garbage bins. Worked at food charity thing briefly back in time.
Pretty sure it's just cheaper and good publicity for stores if someone picks their old shit instead of having to pay more garbage fees or whatever.
Then it's also funny when the so called poor people who cannot afford food come to get their free food bag, they just throw away the stuff that they don't like.
>>
>>748987327
The mopney isn't going to the developers it's going to shareholders/"investors" who didn't make the game
>>
>>748989423
Someone doesn't understand how businesses and stocks work.
>>
>>748987256
I've wanted games to be a hundo apiece for a long time.
>>
>>748989314
I supervise a food pantry and non-English speakers have this weird tendency to take out the foods they don't like and leave it in a collective pile at the corner for others to take or for us to take back.
>>
>>748987928
Video games are discretionary, food is not. Currency debasement via deficit budgets makes your money worth less because there's more of it, which means you have to pay more for essentials - food, shelter, energy. This means you have less to spend on non-essentials, like video games. If the video game producers want to survive, they're forced to lower or stabilize prices (which is effectively lowering the real price since the value of each dollar isn't as much as it was before) and find ways to cut costs and be more efficient.

If you want food prices to stay stable or decline, you need to vote for parties championing Austrian School economics (which says "we should preserve the value of money") instead of Modern Monetary Theory (which says "the value of money doesn't really matter")
>>
If games are going to be $100 then I want a god damn physical version.
>>
>>748987256
More like it's going to "blaze a trail" straight to the grave for gaming.
>>
>>748989752
Sounds fine I guess. At least they're not feeding pidgeons with those. I was mostly doing transporting and storing. Not the distribution part.
>>
>>748987256
nintendo already did it dumb nigger
>>
>>748987256
Meanwhile shitpost games like meccha chameleon sell better then most AAA titles for a bargain.
>>
>>748991719
Good
>>
>>748989314
I've worked in tons of restaurants. Ask why we can't just give away day old food for free instead of throwing it away. Was told by owners that they are afraid of being sued into bankruptcy by a bum who MIGHT get sick from eating it. Thats the reason.
>>
>>748989689
Every western company is doing mass layoffs. Literally, the money isn't going to developers.
>>
>>748992092
nowadays some restaurants here sell old food at discount through some phone app.
i think it's mostly if you start giving it out for free. then people don't buy it anymore.
kinda happened to me. got free bread at some point in life. basically unlimited amount of bread. had freezers full of fucking bread. i haven't felt comfortable about buying bread since. because bread is free. years of free bread. so much that i could've build a castle from those. and now i'd have to pay for bread? no chance mister
>>
GTA still causing shitty trends after 3
>>
>>748990167
I like how poor people pretend everyone will stop buying videogames if they're cost 10 dollars more. Just like everyone stopped going to cinema since tickets don't cost 5 dollars anymore.
>>
>>748991719
That's cool if you want to live in the world where the only games being made are meccha chameleon, whatever that is.
>>
>>748991719
Cause steam is full of poorfags, steam is basically roblox now. Low effort shit with a low price point

I don't understand why people claim he's only saying that because he's Jewish. Warhorse is 100 percent owned by Embracer. Warhorse employees don't receive any profits from their games whether they make 50 million of profit or 300 million.

So they want more studios to die?
>>
>>748994274
Anyone who's salary or bonus (and I'm talking a real bonus here, not like a couple months pay extra) is not directly tied to the profits of whatever company he sells his time to should do the absolute bare minimum at all times. Can't believe people who go the extra mile or care at work when the company, CEO and shareholders are raking in 100x or more and you don't get to see a dime extra for your efforts.
>>
>>748993706
It has a chilling effect where more and more people are unwilling to buy a game for full price as the prices go up and up.
>>
>>748989423
this is true, game developers actually volunteer their time for free and they don't get paid for their work
>>
>>748995129
That's nice but in videogames industry if you have successful games on your resume you're much more likely to be hired elsewhere. Also, if the game is not successful there's a high possibility of studio closure or at least layoffs.
>>
>>748995152
If this was true we would see much lower sales when the price jumped to 70 usd. Nothing happened and everyone understands this is the new normal. Next year 80 usd will be the new normal.
>>
>>748987256
This will just make more people wait for deep discounts. No one sane would take a risk on an obscure game that costs $80. Enjoy having more companies shut down from lack of sales.
>>
Why can't America and Western Europe just enslave the rest of the planet to make products and food and so on?
>>
>>748995398
The video game industry is uniquely fucked yeah, still I doubt it matters much if you're just a programmer. Director/Designer probably, maybe even artist if the game looks particularly ugly. You should still do the bare minimum however out of spite for the bloodsucking ghouls above taking everyone's hard earned money.

>journo thread
journo death
>>
>>748993706
When everything's going up, people need to worry about keeping themselves from starving or dying from whatever disease that their medicine provides. You can't play games when you're fucking dead.
>>
>>748995693
They did. Most of western games are outsourced to China, India or other cheap countries. They still cost hundreds of millions of dollars because there need to be be people sitting in San Fracisco organizing it.
>>
But AI was suppose to make games way cheaper?
>>
>>748996052
No one is starving, fatso. People like entertainment and they will always pay for it. 80 dollars for a game is not an outrageous price, especially in America. In Europe games already cost 80 dollars while everyone having much lower salaries thanbanericans. And people are still buying games.
>>
>>748994649
I'm guessing something happened in his life to make his shift his attitudes like this. When he was making KDC1 he really leaned into the whole anti-woke thing.
>>
>>748997457
money
>>
>>748995549
There are limits, and at least in USD, those limits start being run into the closer you get to $100.
There's a very large perceptual difference between paying two digits, and three. Consumers notice this, and the closer the price comes to three, the more shy away. They can stomach DLC solely because the two purchases are seperate, and $60 + $40 later, somehow doesn't actually feel like you paid $100 in their heads, even though they did.
>>
>>748994649
This picture is literally /v/ personified lmfao.
>>
>>748987256
I can't remember the last time I bought a fully priced AAA game. I got Monster Hunter Wilds for "free" when buying my CPU and don't know the last AAA game I had before that...
>>
>>748987256
lmao you can thank all the homos who bought kcd2
>>
>>748995693
The answer was already on the thread
Food isn't scarce
There's enough food to feed the whole planet right now
But we don't have teleporters
Mcdonals can make a trillion burguers in one factory in Boston.
But just making it go from one side of the usa to the other costs gas, truck maintenance, unloader and trucker salary, and all costs in the middle like road taxes and food taxes and health taxes, it spoils, it can get contaminated, etc
That's why it's cheaper to throw the burguers, than feeding the homeless in seattle.
You have homeless in your own country don't get entitled to do anything for the world
>>
>>748987256
I'm glad I never bought into this faggot's bullshit.
>>
>>749000000

I am NOT paying over 20 dollars for a game, ever again.
