(https://alineaanalytics.substack.com/p/steams-top-september-2026-games)>Combined with the rest of the quarter, that's $5.5 billion, bringing the grand total for 2026 thus far up to $16.5 billion – once again, up 13% from last year. >"Given the insane release slate for the rest of the year, it's safe to say Steam's yearly revenue will blow past $20 billion for the first time," Rhys Elliott, head of market analysis at Alinea, says in a blog post.>Even without going any deeper, there are a lot of major games coming out this winter. Gears of War: E-Day, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and Hellraiser: Revival are among the heavy-hitters for October, while November brings Gravhounds and Edge of Memories.>Alinea found that Steam's September was dominated by three games: Wardogs; Onimusha: Way of the Sword; and The Blood of Dawnwalker. A good mix, since two are fresh properties, and only one is multiplayer focused. Wardogs brought in around $86.9 million dollars during the month, not bad given it only started in early access on September 10.

Another 1,156 titles are currently scheduled to launch in October itself, meaning that if those releases arrive as planned, it would put Steam ahead of the 21,268 games released in 2025.

>>749035392I'm not. Physical fucking sucked on PC and I don't believe anyone who claimed it was better was actually around baci then. There's a reason consoles were so much bigger for gaming while PC is bigger now after ironing out all the bullshit. Physical has always been a cope anyway. It's all licenses and every physical game I have is basically just junk cluttering my house at this point.
>>749035931Yeah, nah, I don't believe you.
>>749037353that's a retarded thing to judge things by you can do so on steam as well and cracking steam drm takes 30 secondsit legitimately means nothing because we no longer live in 2005 and everyone has internet access
>>749036310I could maybe buy this argument if you weren't making it on the internet. Physical had its time and it's done. Damn near every game gets additional content, updates and patches these days, often day 1, not to mention drivers and system updates. Digital only sucks on console where it's a prison with zero control or freedom. It's pure convenience on pc and anyone with a shred of intelligence can decouple it from any drm it might have.
Lack of physical discs on PC is just a complete non-issue. You would save the disc's content on some drive somewhere anyway in order to preserve it because discs don't last forever and take up physical space. Now you can just skip saving the disc's content and just backup the game files you downloaded instead. Drop a program called goldberg emulator (free legit software hosted by microsoft on github) in there and you can play all your singleplayer games forever. Unless it's some unholy drm shit you actually need to crack in order to play, there's piracy for thatOn console, there's nothing. There's just you and your DRM box that can at any time decide to fuck you and then you're out of luck. I would never consent to buying digital console games
>>749037831The problem with this argument from the physicalfag's point of view is basically just collector autism. They want to see plastic on their shelf and they're terrified of change so they'll start conflating arguments like the downsides on console can apply to PC when they don't.
>>749037558There are parts of the US with absolute shit internet access. You should look into how shitty the telecoms are in the States. Government gave them shit ton of money to improve their infrastructure decades ago. They pocketed the money. Never got and pushback for it either.
>>748991964This fat fuck ruined the market with digital goods (hats) but, hey, it is Gabe!
Valve has really cult-ified modern PC gamers, jesus christ.>And that's a good thing!
>>749038117If you still have dialup just pay a guy to make a copy and send it to you lol, there's your physical, pc can do that
>consoletards and timmies seething in irrelevancedelicious
>>749038029You could 3D-print cases, slap cover art of the game in question on it, and either put a burnt disc or a usb drive inside it containing the game. That's something a collector could definitely do to show off others and look at himself. It would even be a functional game if you gave it to someone
>>749038187let me guess, having indestructible copies and the best gaming service while losing nothing is a bad thing because... le yachts? maybe le 30% if you're feeling brave?
>>749038483Yes, but it's not official, corpo owned and controlled merch and they can't have that level of control, it scares them.

>>749039394>i'm not getting any validation for my nonsensical cult reply, no!kek
>>749039335That's a respectable response. Pirates are the only ones with a leg to stand on here. But pirates have no reason to try and shit on valve as steam is the one responsible for bringing shitloads of games to pc that would others be locked down on drm infested hardware, have to be emulated, or wouldn't have had the incentive to be made at all.
>>749039016Yeah. Valve did an amazing job shilling/viral marketing on /v/ and other spaces decades ago. It's self-fulfilling nowadays.Look at the one anon in this thread in the recent posts.
>itt anons try to convince other anons that a service they've used for 10+ years and had no issues with has actually been the gaming anti-christ and they should stop using it (while the anon making these claims is even more raped by shitty services than them)

>>749039586>steam is the one responsible for bringing shitloads of games to pc that would others be locked down on drm infested hardwareDenuvo would still exist even if Steam didn't
>>749039606The irony of it all coming from consolefags is palpable. It's enjoyable seeing them forced to grapple with the obvious direction the winds are blowing as the narratives they desperately try to peddle everywhere keep crumbling.
>>749039606>service they've used for 10+ yearsSteam and Walmart and Best buy all suck, anon. Multiple entities can all be bad
>>749039749PC had some of the worst drm inown to man before steam came around, so yeah denuvo would exist and it would be worse without valve's clout and giving players a loud voice to condemn it on a massive platform.
>>749039834why does steam suck
>>749039963Why, for instance, does one need to log in to a store service to operate, Skyrim, for instance. Skyrim being an entity that contains no online multi player component?
>>749039834Weird choice of comparison over scumbags like sony, nintendo, microsoft, or epic. Almost like you're trying to avoid making obvious the real reason you're in here.
>>749040046you can play skyrim without being online
>>749040046Good question. Kinda pointless though since you dont have to do that on steamYou can actually mod it to never go online without your permission.
>>749039620>i can't get anyone to take my nonsensical cult reply seriously!kek
>>749040089Then why does the Skyrim installation folder contain the steamapi.dll file?
>>749040196because you get some online features like achievements and the workshop if you so choose
>>749040046Why do you feel the need to just make something up? I started skyrim constantly offline. And if a game wants steam running or an internet connection, that is on the game, valve doesn't mandate any of that. You can download a game like stardew and have it run without ever launching steam despite its multiplayer using valve's free online services.
>>749040196>steamapi.dllYou do know that file doesnt stop you from playing offline, right?
>>749040151I am already aware of that, zoomoid. I should not have to install steam to operate the program from the data disc purchased because steam is a disconnected third party entity. Steam is for counter strike, or team fortress. Not for skyrim or just cause.
>>749040237>stealth archery 10 chickens for 10 gamer score!Who the fuck gives a fuck about 'achievements'
>>749040196That file is what tracks playtime, achievements, cards, etc. it doesn't stop you from playing offline.
>>749040370i don't, but like a lot of things on pc, it's a choice for those who dosee how you've just been completely wrong on every point and still continue crying over something you made up in your own headwhy do you do this
>>749040323>I should not have to install steam to operate the program from the data disc purchased because steam is a disconnected third party entity.Good news! You dont have to open Steam to play your installed games either. Set up shortcuts to the installed folder directly and you're good to go. Jesus christ consolecuck, do some basic ass research.
>>749040293Then why is it there?
>>749040451Who cares. Why are you moving goalposts? It has nothing to do with online/offline play.
>>749040449>launching steam dll attached exe opens steam unless program is piracy cracked Why do you have to lie about what everyone already knows? Gabe isn't going to give you a boat ride, simp.
>>749040370Tons of people, tendie. It's an optional thing people like or can ignore if they want. Nintendo fanboys would like them too if Nintendo wasn't too lazy to properly implement them instead of this pseudo garbage they slap into a few games these days.
>>749039924Valve is shit
>>748991964Not my fucking problem.

>>749040591Valve is taking a shit on (You) and the corporation you're crying on the behalf of.
>>749040564>The best thing isn't beating the game, it's telling everyone online that I did! You're literally the xbox kiddy, kiddy.
>>749040556And if you've set steam to never go online. Another thing everyone knows except you, apparently. Again, do some basic ass research
>>749040609>t. shitting himself because his gotcha got btfoAgain, it's not stopping you from running your game offline forever. Now put those goalposts down and stop crying
Niggas be liek: "I hate all the upsides of this service that I bought a game through so its shit" and then act all confused when anons aren't as upset as them because they do like those feature. Actual low function autist levels of inability to comprehend other points of view.>inb4 but if you like anything steam brings to the table you are zoomer/tranny/[buzzword]
>>749040742>it's not stopping you from running your game offline foreverThen there is no reason for steam to even be attached a non team fortress or counter strike file folder.
>>749040564Nintendo doesn't have cheevos? That's news to me, I thought kids loved them
>>749040805>you are zoomer/tranny/[buzzword]Except you are though.
>>749040847i'm confused what exactly are you even crying about at this point, just doing it for the love of the game?
>>749040847So you've completely given up on the offline play point, huh?
>>749040847When you buy a steam version of a game you also get access to all those features that the dev enabled via steam. Achievements, easy friend invite, community discussion forum, community guides, workshops, etc. That file is there to facilitate those features with the game. If you don't like it you can literally replace that .dll with one off github and never have to open steam again.
>>748991964And not a single cent of that put back into making actual videogames. or even just funding videogames.truly the #1 cancerous leech on videogames both as a artform and an industry.
>>749040923There is no need for steam to be present in an offline game, child.

>>749040975>There is no need for steam to be present in an offline game, child.
>>749040656My profile is private and I don't care about cheevos, I'm just not autistic so I can understand that others do like them for the challenge or completionism and it's the reason they're so prevalent.
>>749040975>Why, for instance, does one need to log in to a store service to operate, Skyrim, for instance. >you dont>th-then there's no reason for this file to be there!!!So yeah, btfo and no arguments left.

>>749040805I just assume most of them are console warriors who don't even play games on PC and are just yelling at the other team in their retarded version of team sports. They just want to complain.
>>749040870Nintendo doesn't have a lot of things and they charge for a lot of things valve offers for free.Friendly reminder that nintendo always takes 30% and still does not do real refunds at all and gets by on a technicality. Valve can go down to a 20% cut and offers real, lenient refunds and yet people shit on valve constantly for those two things and you never hear a peep about it for anyone else. Strange how that works. Almost like people are desperate to use anything against valve and hold them to way higher standards while other corporations are so evil such complaints are buried in the mountain of scummy shit they pull.
>>749041028You're right, they should just wear a straight jacket and a muzzle, like you. Being able to criticize, give feedback and speak your mind is dangerous to corporate interests so obviously the superior platforms would never allow it.
>>748991964>analyst saysand all the analysts thought the 2020 Covid lockdown money spike would continue trending upwards indefinitely even as late as 2023. They're a pack of retards who exist to be professional fluffers for the share prices of public companies who believe their own kool-aid
