I don't really get the anger at using AI to mod. People fume about the recomp and decomps being AI-driven and I can somewhat understand that because those are hobby development/programming challenges and AI is side-stepping it. Kind of like when it solves a famous math problem and mathematicians get mad because it denied them their glory. I think it is a bit silly but at least I can following a line of reasoning on it. But mods are just mods. You can choose to use them or not. Games often have tons of mods, with many variations. Look at Skyrim. How many face mods are there? How many gameplay overhauls? You aren't stealing anyone's glory with a mod. Also modding used to be less greedy. There was less begging for money and not as much gatekeeping on modding sites. The modding community has made itself less sympathetic over the years.
