Start and select are the two white buttons up. Capture makes screencap and home opens "home screen", whatever that means in your setup.

Gamesir doesn't have any wireless symmetrical controllers on their website. Which PC-compatible wireless controller comes closest to the one in OP?

I hate how you fags have conditioned me to think of Indians whenever I see sir.

What makes the differences between these so meaningful that you can make an exhaustive list like this? Is it just ms of input delay and how satisfying it feels to press the buttons or are there deeper layers of autism behind it?

haptics, even stuff like the speaker and how its used in many games, the way the triggers work, etc.

It just doesn't hit the same using a normal controller in games that support the dualsense features. A game like returnal is a great example of a game that utilizes all the features of the controller really well.
>>
>>748996648
How do you even make a tierlist like this without pulling all of it from your ass?
>>
>>748996050
Needs reinforcement around the shoulder/triggers. The internal piece of plastic keeping them in place wears down over time and the trigger eventually grinds against the shoulder button.
The back buttons should be able to have turbo mode set to whatever button you've bound to it.
Those two changes and I won't ever need another controller.

That design for heads of analog sticks is absolutely disgusting.

I tried to use a different controller with the same kind of analog stick heads and my thumb would keep slipping and moving to a different part of the stick as I moved it around, a problem I never had on proper convex analog sticks like PS2 or Logitech F310.

The T3 is great as a cheap replacement, but honestly it's still no match for a brand new DS4. Especially because of the fucking triggers, which I'm guessing they HAD to make concave in order to not get sued by Sony.

The only reason I can think of for there being no suitable DS4 alternative on the market are patents by Sony. At this point the only option left is to refit old DS4 controllers with TMR sticks.

Speaking of which, have any anons done something like this? I've got extremely little soldering experience so I've been worried about doing it.
>>
>>748996050

>>
>>749002354
I typically disable them, they sometimes are too easy to press from just gripping the controller BUT i like the option of having them for some games. I think if they just felt a bit different the controller would go from 9/10 to 10/10

I am. My first solder job was a dual sense, I went to an electrical engineering forum for advice and they told me I was over thinking it. I ended using a video guide from youtube by a guy also doing his first solder job on a dual sense controller. If you've soldered before you already know what can go wrong so just avoid messy connections or burning your PCB and you'll be fine. I did my own no problem then started fixing other people's controllers for 50 to 80 bucks a pop. Same deal with ps5 liquid metal maintenance, I made 3k in the week of the Netflix GTA reveal charging 100 to 150 per service.

Same, brother. Exact fucking same situation. I'm on my 3rd (THIRD) T3 now because of it.

The poor R2 button suffers a lot of abuse because of Rocket League. I also discovered another game recently that is inadvertently designed to destroy R2 triggers (as well as the tendons in your hand responsible for pressing them).

How much is the wireless T3 going to sell for? The wired one's main draw is the price, so hopefully they don't think they can get greedy with the wireless one.

>>749006115
Hmm, yeah sounds about right. Even $40 seems a little steep, but it's not exactly an unfair price. No world in which I'd pay more than that, though.

At $30-$35 they'd make a fucking killing, but they'd also probably render the T3 obsolete except for people who seriously can't afford anything more expensive. Though $20 in and of itself is an extremely attractive pricepoint for any hardware. It sits right at the sweet spot of "bargain" and "decent quality".

IMO there's never any good reason to upgrade if you don't have any issues with the controller you're currently using. None of this shit would ever concern me to begin with if the DS4 came with sticks that were built to last.

a question to people who've used lots of controllers.

are the A (for xbox) or X (for ps) buttons supposed to be softer to press compared to the other ones? or is it just a natural sign of wear?
>>
>>749005652
I think to a certain extent the chincs still look at the Xbox controller as the default for PC gaymen and the Switch controller layout since they typically support those platforms.

8shitpoo has a fair amount of DS4 influence but they don't do exact clones after getting gaped by Nintendo in the old days.

>>749006575
It's only been a few years or so since 1000Hz was hyped as a big deal and people are still using 125Hz Xbox controllers without giving a shit.. Big time diminishing returns on 4000Hz, like from 125Hz to 1000Hz is a reduction of 7ms, from 1000Hz to 4000Hz is 0.75ms. That 7ms on its own is kind of whatever but the way to look at it is in a 60hz tick game it's a 43% chance of saving you 16ms which you might actually notice. Of course this is only if other sources of latency are equal anyways.

The face buttons on the 2 are quieter, and the dpad in particular feels way better. It has a membrane pad while the 3's is switch-based and clicky which I hate. It feels better, it's cheaper, and it takes AA batteries in a pinch which is cool. 3 has some nice bells and whistles but for the price and it feels a bit more substantial, but I can't imagine a person owning the 2, buying the 3 when it came out, and being satisfied. It's barely a sidegrade if I'm being generous, and a pretty overpriced one at that.

I still don't know which is which whenever a game tells me to use the start and back/select buttons with their new names, and new icons. When a game first prompts me to use them, I always have to look at the controller to tell which one is which or press one randomly to confirm which side is which, and then I forget again when I play the new game, it never sticks like start/select start/back
It was so simple before, rectangle was select and start was triangle.
Even Xbox' Back was obvious, a triangle facing the other direction indicating to return back, idk why they had to change something that worked flawlessly, both had their own unique thing and it worked perfectly.

>Doesn't the Gamesir G7 Pro/Pro 8K have all of that
Sony's implementation of each of those features is far superior. The Haptics, Adaptive Triggers, Lightbar, etc... it's in a league of it's own. Also 8k sensors for a controller is just retarded, wouldn't be surprised if that causes more issues than it helps. The system and game will need to poll it 8,000 times a second...

>>749019240
No idea why you quoted me but I use my normal DualSense for basically everything on PC because I prefer its ergonomics and features. DirectInput is always going to be worse than Xinput in most cases and not everyone wants to deal with running DualSenseX or DS4Windows to force Xinput on the thing as that can also cause issues at times. Even in games that support DirectInput like the early Yakuza games you can't use a DualSense because it interprets it as both DI and XI at the same time so you get two inputs at the same time despite having nothing running and Steam not interfering with it. I can't remember if my DS4 also had issues or not. SteamInput can also randomly cause issues in getting games to register it properly and does the DI/XI issue sometimes.

You're also forced into manually enabling haptics through the sound settings and configuring the speakers which not everyone realizes, and if you're one of those escaped mental patients who likes sound coming from the controller you also have to do the same for the microphone side as well. Then there's the fact that if you're not on W11 it always acts as the default audio source if you ever unplug it so you have to manually switch over every single time.

There's also the fact that without a wired connection you don't get haptics at all. No vibration, no trigger rumble, and I can't remember if gyro works either.

I'm also not at all a fan of back buttons as they ruin every controller I've ever touched that has them so it's an actual ergonomic downgrade to get an Edge. If it had extra shoulder buttons that would be a different story as that's one of the best additions to a controller ever seen as it doesn't ruin ergonomics and is in a natural position that doesn't require awkwardly pressing to hit.

Nintendo was the only sensible one. Plus and minus are easy to recognize and remember, the names are easy to type and say, they don't imply a specific function, and they give a sense of order because it makes sense for plus to be on the right and minus on the left. Other companies saw that start and select don't really apply to how they are used in games any more and had the great idea that they should create a new set of buttons based around functions that still may not necessarily match how they are used in a game. The icons are complicated enough that I can't tell what they are supposed to be, I don't know what I would call them, and I can't remember which is which. I'm not going to throw a tantrum just because they renamed a button that wasn't used to select things since early NES games, but something has gone terribly wrong when continuing to call them start and select is the most effective way to communicate. I have to assume that everyone got together and decided they were going to intentionally make these buttons as bad as possible since there is no reasonable way they thought this was a good design.

Whenever I see one of these lists with the Vader controllers in S and A tier, I just know they haven't actually used one for a long duration. They have worse QC than the Xbox controllers and will break within a few months. I've had three Vader controllers and the bumpers broke on 2 of them. My third one has other issues (tension rings loose, just weird movement issues in-game) so I don't tend to use it but I can almost guarantee it would have broken bumpers by now.

Having a trackpad makes it more capable than anything but the the Steam Controller. Tackpads are the most space efficient way to add additional inputs to a controller since you can bind many inputs to each side of the trackpad. More reliable sticks don't matter if a controller is missing an important feature.

I would have recommended the Retro Fighter Defender Pro but one issue it has is that the sticks somehow uncalibrate themselves during gameplay. Although it's an easy fix to recalibrate by holding 3 buttons. Even though you wouldn't normally use the sticks in fighting games, the issue existing is just why I can't fully recommend it. Also this problem also applies to the analog triggers too.

You have the slightest chance of actually shilling me on this particular chinc crap because somebody actually put the shoulder buttons more than 5mm above the face buttons, and it doesn't have the right joystick way low or the B button falling off the controller like the normal Xbox shape either. But it still has the other ergonomic Hitler of current gen gamepad design with minimal undercut on the back of the grips. (look at any current controller from the side and see how thick it is at the narrowest point compared to 7th gen console controllers)

>add trigger locks and back buttons for such a minimal extra cost you can barely justify the older one
>but also added one of those satanically loud Xbox Series style d-pads which I do not need
I'd also much rather it was hard wired like the DS4 style Lite

Is this impopular opinion if I believe the DS4 controller was A tier back then and the DS5 is currently the best controller one can use?

Really it just boils down to habits.
I don't even have a PS4 or PS5 I literally just bough the controllers because they were fit the best for fighting games.

The Saturn controller is also good but once you get used to its layout it really makes it odd whenever you have to switch to either XBOX or DS layout, hence why the retro-bit version modernized it's system.
My palms get tired rather fast with an xbox controller also having the analogue stick where the D-pad should which isn't 4 separate buttons is plain autistic, they just designed it this way for the sake of being "different than sony" no practical reason whatsoever.

But since it was the only controller with X-input in it back then this is what PC players got used to and now they say it's the best.

It's not.

>2D metroidvanias with precise inputs (shartsong)
>rhythm games like DJmax
>3D parryslop (lies of P, sekiro)
>>
>>749047470
that's a rock solid budget option i will admit, had the 2.4 version and the triggers sucked ass, the d-pad is also ass but still better then the switch 2 pro
>>
>>749048016
Does the Switch 2 Pro even have anything going for it (battery life notwithstanding)?
>>
>>749048249
HD rumble 2 and the rubber rings around the sticks, that's basically all it's got, it gets shit slammed by anything once you start talking features
>>
>>749033894
they're genuinely ass
drops inputs while holding bumpers/triggers
diagonal issues with the dpad
dpad getting stuck in the shell due to poor geometry
the centre pivot is poorly placed so flicking left/right up/down gives you unnecessary resistance
facebuttons are loud as fuck that i had to replace with vintage knockoff controller ones wich fixed the problem

they look pretty, but they are the most shilled crap i've ever seen on this website and all the redditor reviews on youtube that can't feel a good dpad if it hit them in the face

even though I don't like the layout for 2d games the microsoft shitbox controller dpad is lightyears ahead in terms of responsiveness
>>
>>749032913
that's actually hori now
they've really been fucking up
>>
>>749047981
I've been playing pizza tower with the thing from the OP and the d-pad is surprisingly great for a membrane.

I see this was designed by a scholar.

They basically rank controllers for playing Gaypex and that does look pretty optimized for said use case.

no i will not redeem the kind gamesir

Their ranking is based on latency alone and this thing is a DYI gamepad with a shell built around an off the shelf micro computer.

i bought a dual sense with tmr sticks already in and so far when it works its an awesome gimmick controller, however as a pc player i have to emphasize the WHEN part cause most pc games either don't support it, or the ones that do are ass and not worth playing

>Dual sense edge

dual sense edge placement on the chart makes total sense when you realize even fewer pc games support it then the standard, that chart counts pc as a platform and gaystation controllers do not get it easy, the edge i believe has no native pc support still and even taking playing wired cause 3-4 hour battery it's still way too expensive for whats on offer.
>>
I just bought this model to ffx on emulator. It’s decent but it has this bug where the scrolling thing keeps going to the bottom of the menu and I have to fight with it in order to get top menu options sometimes. Everything else is fine
>>
>>749050570
Use it with Steam, DS4Windows, or some other controller mapping software. It works for everything unless there is something special about your stick mod that breaks compatibility. I'd say PC has better support for PS5 and 4 controllers than the actual PS5 and 4 since you can bind gyro and the track pad to mouse or keyboard buttons and get meaningful use out of them.
>>
>>749051084
noted, albeit my main thing for the ps5 controllers is i want to use the adaptive triggers, albeit i hear even on ps5 support for that is hit or miss

Unironically the best controller I had, it's very robust and the buttons feel nice
Also budget friendly, I just bought my bro one last week.

That is one issue where my claim that PC is better supported than the consoles may not be 100% true. I've only tested it out briefly in the one game I have with comparability, but it comes with limitations. You can only use it with games that officially support the controller, which makes sense. However, that also means you have to use the native implementation. After checking to see how it feels, I quickly went back to using it through Steam Input since being able to aim with gyro and having some hotkeys assigned to the trackpad was a high priority. The adaptive triggers do feel really nice though, so it is unfortunate I have to choose between function and fancy triggers.
>>
Is this controller good? I've been interested in it but keep putting off getting it.
>>
>>749039000
This sounds pretty good actually, I can just switch to DS5 when I want to use sticks. I've put in an order, thanks!
>>
>>749051971
I didn't get that exact model but I had a similar one for a bit. It's roughly comparable to a retrobit controller with a dpad that feels less whack.
>>
>>749051615
yeah ds4 means it works anywhere, however i bought the gimmick controller for it's gimmick feature, besides missing the gaystation controller feel, otherwise i woulda just gotten a ds4 with all the features i wanted prebuilt onto it like sticks and back buttons
>>
>>748997259
I love mine, but the dock is shit. Already had to call warranty once.
>>
>>749051971
It's fine. Kinda mushy D-Pad, and the buttons wobble like crazy in their sockets.
I still use it as a main to emulate sega games.
>>
>>749008287
It's a dogshit controller with dogshit buttons, dogshit build quality, dogshit sticks, dogshit dpad, dogshit triggers, dogshit everything.

It's over 15 years old. The only reason it was any popular is because it was a cheap controller you could use on PC that was marginally better than whatever madcatz garbage you could get in 2010.

ngl truke
>>
>>749053029
It kind of blows my mind to see that people are still buying it at its current prices. Anything from Gamesir or 8Bitdo utterly rapes them in their price bracket.
>>
>>749030896
It's Chinese, so you be the judge, but I got a G7 SE and a Cyclone 2 and they're both great controllers. Most of your alternatives are already Chinese anyway.
>>
Those metal bands around analog sticks, some 8bitdo have them, what are they for? Not shaving off plastic rubbing on plastic?

Also after you get used to concave left and top buttons it's hard to back
>>

>>749053029
The dpad feels like shit but it's still surprisingly very functional
>>
>>748996648
Why is the Saber Plus so high? Honest question, is it because of the price?
>>
>>749055136
the fuck is on the sticks? glass?
>>
I recently bought a vader 5 pro v2, what am I in for?
>>
>>749056707
shits pretty good all things considered, the C and Z buttons are effectively worthless but aside from that the only issues are with its software, and some tired hands if you leave the 2 extra paddles plugged in, besides that it's pretty much the better version of the elite series 2
>>
>>749056018
Is there a reason it shouldn't be high? Aside from what's apparently an afterthought d-pad it seemed solid in all of hardware, software, and price.
