baby steps is a game where you walk uphill. the most difficult challenge is optional and an npc taunts you right before you reach it. there's an alternate route to the end next to it, but if you give up and take that path, the walk of shame, you will get an achievement for it
>>
>>749006176
>>749006606
kek talking like anybody else plays that slop. Having that trash in your library is shameful enough, who cares about the achievement.

why did you buy a literal walking simulator with quirk chungus writing and expect us to pat you on the back? no one is going to judge you for having particular achievements in it, they're going to judge you for buying unfunny gay slop.
it's QWOP long after QWOP lost its novelty. it's an intentionally tedious and boring game with jokes that aren't funny unless you're 10. is that real enough conversation for you? or does "real conversation" require liking the game and sucking you off for playing it?
>>
>>749005921
SAM? That finally stopped working a few months ago because Valve updated how Steam's achievements are handled. Unless they updated it since then, but I haven't checked. I don't use it that often.
>>
>>749007338
not sure why you quoted the other anon who didn't play it. anyway as for me, it was for the challenge. it's funny that out of everything you said, you omitted the one most important defining feature about it. did you read the op? i merely answered the question. what is your purpose here? to seethe that someone else played a game you don't like? that happens everywhere all the time and you sperg out on me on this one occasion? get lost, dweeb
>>
>>749006606
Meh, that seems like a pretty common indie game trope. So many of those quirky low concept games have quick/bad/shameful endings that you get achievements for.
>>
>>749007751

Off the top of my head:
>KILLING SPREE (Left 4 Dead 2)
Earn a Gold Medal on every Survival map.
>Dead God (The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth)
100% Compete the entire game on the Repentance DLC.
>Rabi-Ribi! (Rabi-Ribi)
Complete every achievement.
This game is so insanely hard that well after a decade, less than 1% of players have gotten every achievement in this game. In my opinion, getting this legitimately is one of the hardest things you could do in any game ever.

If a game is not a "run based" game where it is expected that you will play through it multiple times and the length is under 1 hour per run, specific run-based achievements are fine.

But missible achivements just encourage people to look up lists and guides before they start playing.

No, it's exactly the same. You're not doing anything productive with your time, you're playing fucking videogames to have fun. If you're not having fun doing the achievement challenge then there's no point in doing it, and THAT'S THE POINT. Literally the same thing with doing any challenge. There isn't a $5 gift card waiting for you at the end, you're doing it for the thrill, just for fun.

So do I. But you really shouldn't need to.

This is one that really irked me. Basically you needed to ride a carriage everywhere for the entire game and intentionally drive like a maniac for 80-90% of the total game runtime to get this. It was doable in a normal playthrough but only if you were grinding it from the very start.

I hate these ones. It just encourages savescumming or wasting the player's time since most often different choices in games make minimal difference anyway.
My favorite type of achievements (and what I think achievements should be all about) are ones that challenge the player to do something above and beyond what the game normally expects from them. The easiest example are speedrun achievements, it doesn't have to be anything crazy difficult either, just a time set by the devs that requires someone actually pays attention during the level and does the most obvious things they can to save time. Think the relics in Crash games

I have never once a day in my life mentally pronounced FAQ as FAK, in English anyway, it was always F-A-Q.
In french, yeah I'd read it as FAK.
>>
>>749045020
Okay, what game is this?
>>
>>749017049
No this acxhievenment is so difficult to get that its basically on the same level as doing a hardmode with all negatives
>>
>>749008058
No one is forcing you to play them but if someone wants to do it then who gives a fuck?

Those Metal Slug achievements that make you have to play with each character 100 times

why actually put in impossible achievements, steam games love doing that for some reason
>>
>>749047050
Given how unstable DR2's netcode is to this day, that sounds like a complete chore.

It's called roleplaying.
Just because you're character is evil, doesn't mean you are evil.
>>
>>749047895
No, you don't get it. Every action you take in games exactly mirrors what you would do in real life. This is also why every main character must be literally me, otherwise I cannot get immersed.
There are probably people who actually think this way.
>>
>>749008073
The PS4 takes screenshots when you get achievements. My screen shot for this one is of my home screen because I got killed trying to dodge a zombie and ragequit
>>
>game has non-stacking difficulty achievement
>only have achievement for the hardest difficulty you can select from a fresh save
>>
>>749047895
>Just because you're character is evil, doesn't mean you are evil.
You're still the one making the decisions and performing the actions. It's not like you're watching a movie or reading a book.

never played ys, but the tooltip seems to imply there was at least one ruby, while the reviewer claims he didn't encounter any of them. who is at fault here?

that's actually not the worst one..
all the TIR (terror is reality) online ones were a nightmare, since it used to use windows live it's absolute spaghetti and they never fixed it, even with pulling together people for a night of achivo hunting expect lots of network issues
>>
>>749048560
so it's the reviewers fault? he didn't see any rubies, nor did he see the tooltip
>>
>>749005921
Sometimes when I replay a game I like to use SAM to lock all the achievements so I can re-earn them
>>

that makes me sad

You can finish this game in an hour or less. Even if you replay it on Hard difficulty a couple of times, you're looking at an achievement for idling for 90+ hours.
>>
I remember some Tiger Woods game on 360 had some bullshit like become the number 1 player in the world.

The best part is there's an achievement for getting all achievements.
>>

A toy and a game are two different things, world changing events have been decided over games.
>>
>>749050590
>world changing events have been decided over games.
people being retarded doesn't change the definition
vidya are toys
>>
>>749047130
I do not. And I will always give a game a negative review if I can't skip the credits - no matter how much I might have enjoyed the game. I won't stand for that shit
>>
>>749005562
Any of them. I hate them and wish I could just turn them off completely.
