Solid 8.5/10, definitely an improvement on the first game.
>>
From the couple sloptoubers I saw play it it looks pretty solid. I would buy it if I had a better pc. Mine can't handle modern games these days

does it have any of the gameplay from the first game at all?

Fight for control

it has some borrowed abilities but it's very different

This game heavily reminded of look outside, especially near the end. Need more games with world ending eldritch entities as the main focal point
>>
>>749006529
The game plays completely different from the first. For starters, you get three weapons that manifest depending on whether you're light or heavy attacking or using a finisher. Then the abilites you unlock as you progress usually come in two flavors: summons or telekinetic powers. The enemy variety is also greatly expanded on; the mold from the first game is essentially an entire new faction to fight now.
>>
I sort of like the Darksiders thing with each game having a different protagonist. My guess is if they get to make a Control 3, it'll be both Faden's playable, swapping between each on the fly. Or perhaps they'll introduce a third protagonist(?) Who can say, I feel like a sequel could go literally anywhere with the way it ended.
>>
it pales in comparison to 1, especially in the worldbuilding and writing department. Still pretty good.

Resonant feels like a step forward but a step back at the same time. For everything it expands on with the world, it's hyperfocused on the hedron at the expense of everything else. Even the mold gets more story presence than the hiss who take a backseat and become mooks that just get in your way. What it did do right was capture a certain level of emotional pathos that was missing in the first game. The first had a sleek, noir, very cold way of presenting its narrative but resonant feels more...raw, and I like it a tiny bit more for that, even if the execution could've been a little tighter.

The first game was like a 3/10 so better isn't hard
>>
>>749010340
that was very deliberate and intentional given the omnipresence of Severd Circle 2 in every fault. And it didn't explain the whole backstory, we still don't know where Jesse came from

>And it didn't explain the whole backstory, we still don't know where Jesse came from
She's clearly a hedron or some extra dimensional entity that got trapped in human form somehow. Dylan being a conduit for the hiss now means she'll never be made whole. Control 3 is probably going to have a mass invasion of hedrons come in to take out their corrupted brethren while dylan goes to a pattern fucked dark place to try and find a way to stop it.

The visitor would easily one tap the hedron, unless its influence stops short of interdimensional beings

AW2 DLC had the text adventure, during the TIm Breaker Night Springs episode

Sooo, when are we getting Severed Circle 3?

I'm hesitant to get it. I loved The Oldest House, it was clearly the protagonist of the game and a great one at that. The SCP flare to it was also great. Conversely I gave zero fucks about Jesse and Dylan. Should I give Resonant a chance?
>>
I doubt it’s better than control or AW2. I only played an hour so far, but I hate when games retcon characters. Dylan was an asshole and hated his sister and they basically had to change his whole character to fit main character role.

What the FUCK was the whole not mother thing about?
>>
Oh also did they patch photo mode in yet? I don’t understand why include environment detail and story telling but no deduced zoom button or photo mode
>>
>>749005720
It plays well but open world slop with scaling enemies and meaningless busywork will always be slop and a chore to get through
>>
>>749011889
>Dylan was an asshole and hated his sister
Dylan was possessed by the hiss which amplified his negative emotions tenfold. The game does a good job going over why he acts different now.
>I doubt it’s better than control or AW2
It's better than Control but not AW2. It comes close in some regards but overall AW2 is just the tighter and more focused experience.

I bought the first game on sale and played a couple hours. I really dont like the Jessie as a character and her acting is ass. the setting is cool tho. Does she get better or is this just a grin and bare with it for the sake of the setting?
>>
i wanna buy it but i don't remember a lot from the first game so i think i'll have to replay it

>She's clearly a hedron or some extra dimensional entity that got trapped in human form somehow.
I don't think that's it, as far as we know the hedron/hiss dimension wasn't opened until Dylan and Jesse used the slide projector. Ordinary could have been a place of power and Jesse somehow manifested through unknown means for unknown reasons.
My guess? They're tying it with Alan Wake writing her into existence, as hinted in the AWE dlc, but I hope that's not the case because it feels too easy, and Wake's powers stem from the dark presence which is only works within Brightfalls, from what we know, so it wouldn't make much sense even, so they'd have to play into his parautilitarians power having evolved or whatever. Another guess is Jesse is similar to Fra, comes from god knows where and is able to rewrite memories, and she might have rewritten her own memories.
