>while wearing this item if you press a button if an enemy attacks you it damages your stamina bar which recovers really fast instead of your health bar for which you have to use limited items to replenishand people want me to NOT use this busted mechanic?
>>749014763Yes because rolling or sprinting away takes less stamina overall when you're tanking multiple hits. Which is why twin dragon greatshield is superior because even stronger enemies like pursuer bounce off, interrupting their combos, while it remains light enough that you can easily robflynn.
>>749014763If you're taking so much damage that using it is a necessity, then you're doing something wrong. It's also very sub-optimal as your damage output will suffer. Then again it's very useful for extending the amount of time fighting, which lets you get a better grasp on enemy patterns.
>>749014763There is no difference between the Souls games stamina bar and the Halo games shield mechanic. That being said, Souls games are baby's first action RPG.
>>749014763you lame nigga
>>749016467How can it be baby when it's the hardest one?
two handing a big sword is probably easier.
This is how 95% of casuals beat DLC Radahn
>>749014763In 2 and before sure. In the games after that bosses attack chains just burn through your stamina way too fast, I don't think greatshields or magic shields are even enough most of the time.
>>749016857Even the worst 100% physical block shield is perfectly usable in elden ring.
>>749014763Shields really trigger the spergs for some reason. I remember HBomberGuy had a big rant about shields in his DS2 video.
The problem with shields is that the majority of souls enthusiasts are bottom of the barrel retardIQ cattle, and can only go all in or shields or all in on dodging So if a shield doesn't let you facetank every attack from every boss, it is literally unusable
>>749016587It isn't hard you just feel challenged.
>>749017069>So if a shield doesn't let you facetank every attack from every boss, it is literally unusableUh yeah. Dodging is better so if Im using a shield its purely for the fantasy. If I have to use both then the fantasy dies and I might as well just use dodging
>>749014763Don't listen to them. All their opinions were cultivated by a British. They'll say DS2 is trying to actually teach you not to use shields when it gives you a shield merchant before a weapon merchant. Because that's your brain on beans and toast. Also they aren't good enough at the game to level up their primary damage stat and health and endurance. They can maybe garner enough souls to level 2/3.>>749015161This guy gets it.>>749016596Sadly also true. STR builds tend to be meta. I did a coop run of Elden Ring and my friend was running an int build and was just stunned with how often I was stance breaking with Giant Crusher. If you play with STR as your primary damage stat there's no reason not to two hand, especially seeing as you don't have to worry about FP so you can have maximum healing flask allotment and high poise armour, which even with equip load at the soft cap and taking giants jar talisman, a greatshield would put you into fat roll. While dodging *is* probably more efficient, I would say if you care about efficiency, why aren't you using the Mace in every Souls game? It's literally the highest damage output for the least level investment and gets more from STR scaling than any other weapon. Because you don't actually care about the most efficient tactic, you just want to sperg out.
>>749017069>and can only go all in or shields or all in on dodgingThat's called having a build, which is what a good game is about. Build commitment should be enforced at all times.>So if a shield doesn't let you facetank every attack from every boss, it is literally unusableYes, correct.
>>749018698>>749017117point proven
>>749017117You can dodge while holding block. It can often save you when you press roll too late.
>>749018698>>can only go all in or shields or all in on dodging>That's called having a buildBoth dodging and blocking benefit from the same stat.
Crutches hamper your skill growth as a gamer, limiting your potential and the amount of games you can play. You will never be able to play Monster Hunter if you used shields in Souls.
>>749019457>You will never be able to play Monster Hunter if you used shields in Souls.Meanwhile: >>749016621
>>749016061blocking doesnt mean you block every attack. you can do spacing while blocking and avoid attacks just by walking around. it's like reverse rolling because in rolling you want to spend stamina to avoid taking damage while with blocking you want to avoid getting hit so you dont lose stamina to blocking.
I think shield are great mechanically, but I have a problem with how when the enemies blow exceeds your stamina is only staggers youthis isn't punishing enough, you will often recover before the next attack of the enemy, exceeding your stamina bar should also have you suffer the full damage of the final blowthat's not even getting into how ridiculous greatshields can get, I first experienced it in DS where I could spend the entire Sif fight guarding without ever depleting my stamina
>Demon's SoulsUse any 100% phys medium shield>Dark SoulsCarry a special effect shield on your back>Dark Souls 2No shields only dual wield weapons>Dark Souls 3Shields are bad but not having a shield is bad as well. Suffer.>Elden RingThe base game has several viable shields thanks to the ash of war systemGreatshields rule the DLC
>>749019514You have to get to the point where that skill activates first.
>>749019729Nah I think that's too much It should just not let you put your guard up until your stamina full replenishes, maybe at a lower rate
>>749019514A soulsbab just wouldn't be able to do that for 40 minutesThey fight something for 2 minutes and go "sheeeeesh, that was one heck of a fight i think im done for the day"
