I hate that fag so much it's unreal, thx for the tip
Is a single musou bodyguard better in this game or should I go for a group of archers?
>>

>>
>>749015931
yeah, it's pretty good
>>
>>749015931
Yes

>>749016065
Archer group looks like the only thing that's functional in the first place. Melee bodyguards are too passive, and musou bodyguard wastes a lot of time just guarding. Shame because all these things worked properly in the og, this game needs a patch already.
>>
>>749016112
What's so good about it? Is it just 3 with better graphics?
>>
>>749016282
sigh you dont feel the power of their maaagiiiic
>>
Lord Cao Cao! Who are we deceiving and betraying today, you little scoundrel you
>>
>>749016065
Archer groups with support order is already strong in DW3, but the remastered further buff the bow by giving charged/musou arrow the ability to pierce.
Half the peons that are surrounding you will be stunned by your bodyguards.
>>
>>749016235
hmm okay, should I use bow or crossbow?

>Is it just 3 with better graphics?
No, despite the name it's a full remake.
For me, the original is still better, but this is still going to be a much more playable game than any newer musou, purely because they kept the more aggressive enemies. Hopefully a future update will fix the off-screen battle sim speed, since currently you can't really take much advantage of the morale system unless you stick to Normal and below.

>>749016367
It doesn't feel like there's a huge difference in this remaster, but crossbow used to be better because of the faster fire rate.
>>
>>749016530
man this game is way harder than newer games, I'm starting to struggle on normal kek
in newer games even chaos is a meme
>>
>main camp is in trouble
>legit 0 enemy officers, just peons much further away then the main force
>officers struggling against peons in general
siege of hefei castle seems weird
>>
How do I get into this story?
I know that the romance of the three kingdoms is one of chinas epics. I just don't really know where to begin since so much media has been made about it.
>>
>>749016836
The "main camp is in trouble" message now triggers as soon any of the commander troops are engaged with a higher morale enemy. That includes gate troops that happen to belong to your commander's unit. It's also something they changed from the OG for whatever reason.
The generic "X is in trouble" message triggers with 3 stars morale difference, also from troops engaging each other even if their unit leader is 50km away.
>>
>>749016905
start at the beginning anon
>>
I fear the big peons more than I do officers, all officers do is block but the big guys just attack constantly.
>>
>>749016946
that's weird, also I just watched sun quan musou my officers to death at 1hp, made me kek
>>
How different is this game compared to DW4? That's the one I put the most time into.
>>
>>749016905
Read the novels. They're not even that long (although they can be long-winded).
>>
>>749016905
DW4 lets you read a summary in the encyclopedia.
You can also find things like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFKMJmnYUTc or the two chink shows, people usually recommend the 2010 but I hear the older one is also cool.

People have already complained about how fast the battle sim goes in the remaster a lot in the steam forums at least. Hopefully it will get patched.
For comparison, if you are good enough at the game you could save everyone even on Shu side on Very Hard. Keeping your defense low helps extending ally survival time, but I'm not sure this works in the remaster.

is cao cao still the best like in the original?
>>
So does the weapon itself decide which move will trigger the elemental attack? On his tier 3 it was the getsuga beam but now it's the C4 jump which seems more awkward.
>>
>>749018802
Not sure since what made him good was having Steel, and now that's just everyone if you want.
Once I can at least play every character with a 3rd/4th/5th weapon and Steel element, I'm going to see which ones can use it better. I can predict Cao Cao won't be any better than anyone who can use a multihit/wide proc, even including the likes of Sun Shangxiang.
>>
I just got fucking fighter juggled by xiahou dun. C4 up into the air and back down, then follows up with another 5 or 6 hit combo.

I can't tell if enemies are more aggressive in higher difficulty stages or not, though you obviously get staggered more easily.
>>
>>749019119
C5 I mean. Always forget to count the first one.
>>
>>749018984
All 3rd weapons so far proc element on C6
4th and 5th can use different charge attacks, some of them have two procs on the same weapon.
For originally element-less 4th and 5th, they actually had an unused proc set in the og, now you can see it by giving them an element through fusion.

The element you are using doesn't change which attack they are using, so yes, it's weapon-dependant.
>>
>>749019119
>I can't tell if enemies are more aggressive in higher difficulty stages or not
Yes they are. Very obvious difference if you go for Normal to Hard for instance.
>>
HOW ARE THESE FUCKERS MAGICALLY GETTING BACK ON THEIR HORSES
>>
>>749019705
By pressing left stick DUH
>>
>>749019160
For Zhou Yu 4th, it's both C2 and C5. He's one of the characters with double proc.
C2 is good for squad leaders because on you can oneshot them quickly, also against Guard Captains.
C5 is fine, just don't jump every time and it can help clear crowds and officers
>>
>>749019808
IT'S NOT FAIR
>>
>>749018984
Zhang Jiao can shoot lightning ball as his musou attack with his 5th weapon.
I assume you can shoot purple balls with steel element.

I went back and played the original with a fresh save to compare classic settings of the remastered edition. You get your shit pushed in far, far more in the remaster.
>>
>>749020856
I've been playing the original right before this dropped, and can confirm that early game is worse in the remaster, but late game becomes a joke when you can stack all the good stats on one weapon or even Steel element.
In the og, bodyguards are also far more useful
>>
>>749021050
>In the og, bodyguards are also far more useful
In the remaster, since charged arrows do piece. Your bodyguards can stun a lot of peons at the same time.
>>
>>749021134
It's cool but we are talking about "can just leave them to solo an officer" tier of useful in the og. There are some japs who let bodyguards clear the entire stage on yt for funsies.
Or in higher difficulties, they can take aggro off you at least, if on Shield order they won't be killed easily. Here it doesn't happen too often.
>>
You can unlock characters on beginner right? I need to do Zhuge Liangs bullshit musou.
>>
>>749021296
You can.
For items, you have to play on Easy or above instead.
For 4th weapons, Hard or above.

>>
Character design was at its best in this game. Look at Sima Yi and Zhuge Liang, for example. No anime shit, nothing overdesigned and even as a novice, upon seeing the character art for both, you'd know that they're both strategists/commanders/ruler type of people.
>>
What did Sun Quan mean by this?
>>
>>749022425
>How does that translate to a stage?
DW6 actually did it pretty well by making it a direct assault on Xuchang. Other games often focus on the whole "Sun Ce vs mystic" angle by having a mystic try to assassinate him.

For DW3, I would honestly say throw in a cutscene after Sun Ce's conquests if you aren't playing as him.
>>
>>749022635

>>749022813

I'm having trouble consistently getting Perfect combos on some characters for farming becuase how aggressive peons are and all the air recoveries that interrupts your combo.

well that was embarrassing
>>
>>749023029
I'm getting them without trying because the new combo window is very large
>>
>>749023073
old DW3 peons generally ignore you if you're currently getting juggled by an officer. Peons hitting you in the air mid juggle is only a DW4 thing.
So this AI behavior is entirely new.

>>
>>749023891
All regular items can drop on any map but higher flags means higher chance for better stats. Game difficulty, combo points and Luck stat also affects this. With a certain combination of those, it's possible to obtain "limit break" items.
>>
>>749024102
I know all this. How do you think I got +25 tiger amulet ? The max stat in OG is +20. +25 is maxed via limit break. You need to do chaos late stages with 1000-1500 combo points before grabbing any items for optimised results which im doing

You can start on Hard/Classic settings, but expect to get your ass kicked in early game if you don't play very carefully or abuse guard cancel. Gets better as you progress, because there are a lot of stat upgrade drops and weapon fusion can make strong weapons easily enough. Don't say you weren't warned, it's harder than the og.
Don't even bother starting on Chaos.

I couldn't believe Liu Bei dies in Zhang Liao's Changban (stage 2) and nothing changes for the rest of the story.
>>
The morale/battle sim changes are so much more evident in hard mode over normal, i wonder if it's an accident or if they've changed something on purpose. Maybe they think people enjoy their allies being useless and needing saved so they made them even suckier on hard mode.
>>
>>749035251
Allies being kinda shit in Origins was counterbalanced by allies healing when you high fived them, even if you immediately pissed off elsewhere afterwards. But that doesn't happen in 3, so I'm not sure what the deal is here.

Accident most likely.
Higher difficulty apparently raises attack stats, and health, but not defense at the same rate they did in the og. Since stats do matter a lot in off-screen sim, as a side-effect they will all happen quickier since everyone is doing more damage, and your own side begins in morale disadvantage so they are the ones suffering from the change the most.

answer the question, virginboy.

>Yi Ling Gan Ning vs Ma Chao always seemed to last for a while in the og

>West side officer always lasted longer on Nanman Campaign

What the fuck!

with the new turbo aggressive NPCs and there being more of them , Pang Tong sucks even more than before. C4 and C6 just leave you with your cheeks open for insertion even when you add steel to your weapon
Oh well, Ziluan's pretty good, and Taishi Ci is fucking busted. All kinds of people are taking their new spots on the top now

so who is good with animation cancelling normals? Zhou Yu is pretty great with it, as is Lu Bu (not a shock)

Odd because I played Yiling on Wu side, Hard mode, and Gan Ning always beat the shit out of Ma Chao after the fire attack.
Everyone else fucked up though.

Allies being made of paper in origins made the game such a fucking chore. You had to constantly babysit your allies or the battle wouldn't proceed at all. It was bad enough that I just dropped the game after finishing one route.
>>
>>749036557
are ally stats based on your stats? thats the only explanation for the devastation ive encountered; being under leveled hurts them too
>>
Im making a musou game and the mechanics are interesting to think about. I'm going for old school style where you capture bases and whatnot but I'm thinking the morale system is kind of pointless and can be dropped. The only upside I see of it is you can do an event and get good morale despite having poor map control, but that can be accomplished without the morale system. Aside from those niche events, the morale system doesn't seem to do anything you can't tell by looking at the minimap and seeing it being painted red or blue.
>>
>>749036671
Hope it gets fixed soon.
Just give more defense to everyone off-screen if you are playing on Hard or Chaos.
>>
>>749031167
kek wtf is this
>>749033686
>why no Wei Nanman
How would that even make sense geographically? Only after BTFO'ing both Shu and Wu, and Meng Huo would have to go beyond full retard to bark at the top dog of unified China
>>
>>749036836
>and Meng Huo would have to go beyond full retard
I mean, that's not an unlikely scenario
>>
>>749036754
Probably just the normal enemy scaling to your stats while your allies stay the same, but on both instances, I think the difference compared to the opposite side, which would often last much shorter in the og but now reversed, is the number of enemy officers present
>>
>>749036895
Yeah, i'm reading the southern campaign wikipedia article, and literally everyone else told Yong Kai to go fuck himself, only Meng Huo listened to him
>>
>>749032082
...got what he fucking deserved.
>>
>>749036836

Fellow men, I am stunned at how good this game feels. It's been so long since I played an actual video game. You can charge straight at the enemy leader, farm the map for weapons, kill Lu Bu. I love that the common soldiers gather around their commanders. What the fuck its so good.
>>
>>749036758
I'd keep it, but add more ways to affect morale during battle. Both for you and the enemies, and not in a fully predetermined fashion like events.
>>
>>749037662
Now wait until you play the original.
As somebody who came straight from it before release, I think remastered is mostly worse but still more playable than numusou, so I don't really regret it.
>>
>>749037815
>keep it
>Aside from those niche events, the morale system doesn't seem to do anything you can't tell by looking at the minimap and seeing it being painted red or blue.
But why tho? What does it add that isn't already there by way of map/gamestate?
>>
>>749037662
this demaster sucks ass. you can't kill lu bu in the original game because he was an actual monster there until this easy as fuck piece of shit game made for fags

Yes you can. With similar strats to the remaster even, like red health musou or arrows.
>>
The only time I've seen a proper morale turnaround in the player's favor is yiling on wu side if the fire attack succeeds. Every other time it just seems like it stacks the map against the player, but maybe it was a lot more nuanced in the og. Hell sometimes I've seen a playable officer lose to a generic's unit AFTER the general was already slain
>>
>>749038108
he's harder in this one than in the original at the same difficulty levels, Mr. LARPer. He's also beatable in the same exact ways as the original.
>>
>>749038374
my brother just cleared Naman on hard and killed every single officer only to watch all his allies die to normal troops
it's broken, but funny

If they ever make Dynasty Warriors 10 who would be possible good female additions to be playable?
>>
>>749038269
Easily replicated by giving someone a buff for certain circumstances. but I think I have some ignorance here. are you implying there's individual morale in some of these games? I need to look into that if so.
But if it's just morale bar high = my allies win more and morale bar is tied to your map state, it's a win/lose more system that doesn't add anything.
>>
So did anybody tested how good is marching drum now with alm the morale complaints?
>>
>>749038759
>are you implying there's individual morale in some of these games?
In old DW yes.
Everyone has their own morale amount, so you should keep an eye to who is fighting who to determine who needs saving or who can survive. 3 also adds a bit of randomness to enemy starting morale, and the increases you get on your side.

I asked Google Gemini and it gave me the following.

If Koei Tecmo ever develops a traditional numbered Dynasty Warriors 10 that expands the roster beyond recent releases, there are several historical and literary figures from the Three Kingdoms era who would make fantastic additions.

Historically, Koei has drawn female characters from actual historical texts, novel folklore, or strategic spin-off titles (like Dynasty Warriors Blast). Based on gaps in the current factions, here are the strongest potential female candidates:

1. Cao Wei: Lady Bian (Bian Wang)
Who she is: Cao Cao’s primary wife and Empress Dowager of Wei, she was the mother of Cao Pi, Cao Zhang, Cao Zhi, and Cao Xiong.

Why she fits: Wei is heavily lacking in prominent female characters compared to Shu or Wu (having only Zhenji and Wang Yi). Lady Bian is historically noted for her calm dignity, frugality, and political stability during a chaotic era. In a game, she could offer a sharp contrast to the more martial or tragic female characters, perhaps wielding a refined court weapon like a traditional fan, scroll, or dual jade-inlaid short swords, managing logistics and state morale behind the scenes.

2. Shu Han: Ma Yunlu
Who she is: A popular fictionalized figure from folklore and historical fiction (though heavily requested by fans for decades), she is presented as the younger sister of Ma Chao and Ma Dai, and eventual wife of Zhao Yun.

Why she fits: Shu’s roster relies heavily on the extended Guan family for female warriors (Guan Yinping and Bao Sanniang). Adding Ma Yunlu brings a representative from the Xiliang cavalry forces. She is traditionally depicted as a fierce, spear-wielding horsewoman who could match her brother Ma Chao's aggressive riding style, adding a high-speed, cavalry-focused female archetype to Shu.

3. Eastern Wu: Sun Luban (or Sun Luyu)
Who she is: The daughters of Sun Quan. Sun Luban (the eldest) was notoriously politically savvy, sharp-tongued, and deeply involved in the violent imperial succession struggles of late Wu. Her younger sister, Sun Luyu, was known for being more virtuous and gentle.

Why she fits: Wu’s current female lineup (Sun Shangxiang, Daqiao, Xiaoqiao, Lianshi) mostly occupies early-to-mid era storylines. Sun Luban would introduce a rare "schemer/manipulator" archetype to the female roster. Her narrative integration into the messy late-Wu political infighting would give the Wu storyline much-needed drama in the post-Sun Quan era.
4. Jin Dynasty: Xiahou Lingnu
Who she is: A noblewoman of the Cao-Xiahou clan during the tumultuous rise of the Sima family. When her husband was killed, her family pressured her to remarry. In an extreme act of loyalty and defiance, she cut off her own ears and nose to mutilate herself so no one would force her into marriage.

Why she fits: She represents the intense moral dilemmas and friction during the Sima clan's usurpation of Wei. While historically tragic, Koei could adapt her into a fiercely resilient, blade-wielding warrior who fights for the dying honor of the Cao-Wei state, slotting naturally into the Jin or late-Wei transition chapters.

5. Nanman / Other: Huaman
Who she is: The legendary daughter of Meng Huo and Zhurong from Romance of the Three Kingdoms folklore, who later marries Guan Suo in popular tradition.

Why she fits: If Koei ever brings back or expands the Nanman campaign levels, Huaman is the most obvious choice to join her parents. She would inject vibrant energy, jungle-themed aesthetics, and unique weaponry (like throwing daggers, a blowdart system, or a spiked club) to round out the "Other" faction.

Who out of these factions do you think is in the most desperate need of a fresh face?

Or you could get DW7XL on steam if you care about the story
