>*vanishes your party members*for fucks sake
>muh familyShut up nigger
>My wife created you because she was sad. You have my apologies and that of my family. Now die. This is fine because they were an accident
the novelty of this game was how the story was told>acshully, most of you are npc's>here's the REAL characters
I really fucking hate it when a game takes your party members away without warning, especially when that means losing their equipment. FFIV is one of my favorite JRPGs but god fucking damn is it one of the worst cases of doing that shit.
I just started Act 3. I expected something like Chrono Ark, but close enough. pretty nice lore.
>>749017810It'd be fine if you can have them back like in fight against Bourgeon by Breaking him. Renoir's permanent vanish is just too unfair.
>>749017810>>749017893>vanishes MaelleWouldn't that break the whole story? That would send Maelle back into the real (?) world, from which she'd immediately jump back in again but this time as a proper Painter, knowing everything.
>>749016534>This is fine because they were an accidentSo were you, what's your point?
Simon kicks them from the painting
He just sends them to the backstage tea party to chill for a bit
I don't like asking serious questions on 4chan, but since reddit is an awful forum that auto deletes every new thread I make, I'm just gonna ask them here.1. What had Aline been doing in Lumiere? she was supposed to escape reality doing happy family stuff, but wasn't she just sobbing on top of Monolith this entire time? did she even paint her family? cuz Painted Renoir and Painted Verso (oblivious of the truth?) were part of Expedition (0) to KILL her. and even after Exp00 where Painted Renoir chose her side, her beloved Painted Verso ran away, so they were never together this whole 100 years. So... what was the point of Aline entering the canvas?2. Did they ever explain how Painted Renoir and Painted Verso conveniently started the 1st expedition? was it Renoir's influence from the shadow to incite them both after the Fracture that he caused?3. Who's Clea? she seems to be Alicia's elder sister, but she was so rude to Aline and Renoir, she called them by names4. What's up with Painted Alicia (masked, burnt, mute)? was she physically real or just in Maelle's mind this entire time? she kinda disappeared and never mentioned again. if she was physically real, how was she on Paintress side from the beginning, while Paint Renoir and Painted Verso had to go on an Expedition to meet Aline.
>>749017489Are you retarded? His first claim is that no, they are not "lesser" or "fakes" but he will kill them all to save his family regardless.
Verso was right.
>>749017489How do you know OUR world isn't some painted world painted by a sadistic painter who loves watching his creation struggle and suffer?
>>7490195921 - She was on top of the monolith when she first entered the painting after Verso's death. It was only when Renoir followed and stopped Gommaging everything that she had to stay to contain him, because if it was not for Aline, Renoir would have insta-deleted fucking everything minute one. That's what started the Expeditions, and that wasn't even until like... year 70 or so?2 - They literally started the expeditions because they finally realized people were dying way too early, and there was a system to it, and that it originated from the monolith. It's no big surprise that the few pensioners over 90 go, but people get alarmed when suddenly all the 70 year olds go simultaneously.3 - Verso and Alicia's older sister. She didn't really care about the painting, she just wanted to fuck over those sumbitch Writers in the real world. The Clea in the painting is a painting babyVerso made that Clea stripped all personality out of so it could mass-produce monsters.4 - Painted Alicia was an Aline creation because Aline blamed Alicia for the fire, so Aline made her ugly and stupid and in pain.Or that's about how I remember it. It has been a while.
>>749019623Are you? They're still npc's and nothing changes that. I don't remember what you're referring to as his 'first claim'. He has had more than enough of existing in the painting and he deletes them instantly where the rules allow him to do so.
>>749019773Because if it were the world would be a much nastier place.
>>749017489>>749020282The people of Lumiere are as much humans as the Painters themselves. If "has been created" is the criteria for deeming someone not human, I have bad news for you. Even without ending up in a religious discussion the Painters are provably created beings as they inhabit a videogame. The biggest problem with the game's story was that at the end of act 2 the story shifts from them fighting for their survival to a family squabble about escapism. The question of what counts as a real human and what doesn't would have been a much more interesting one, and it could still have fit the family squabble beside it.
>>7490198931. So what's Aline's plan? does she even have a winning chance against Renoir?2. That didn't answer the question. their 1st ever expedition was conveniently led by Painted Renoir and Verso, people close to Aline?4. So Aline was able to create Alicia as she wished her to be, but not Verso (and Renoir)? as they still have free will to side with/betray Aline. isn't it weird that Verso was her sole motivation for escaping the real world, but she can't create her ideal Verso that stays with her? It';s weird that Painted Verso was born in Lumiere and had to go on an Expedition with Painted Renoir, who was also born in Lumiere(?) to even meet Aline.
>>749016461>*dodges*Now what?
>>7490207041 - Hold on, because she's completely lost in mourning and the painting slowly killing her. No.2 - They were painted, just like everybody else. As Aline painted them instead of babyVerso, they were much more capable than the rest of them (except gigachad Simon that babyVerso painted as He-Man before Clea took him over). More capable let them simply be elected to go because damn Renoir and Verso are so smart!4 - Verso and Renoir were also painted by Aline, Renoir for example was changed to be LOYAL specifically to Aline. Remember, Aline has been in the painting for a longass time, and Renoir has been there for relative decades just trying to crowbar her back out so she doesn't schizo out and die from painting radiation.
>>749020443That's just because you didn't catch the painter's attention. Pray that it stays that way until you die.
>>749020627The family still see them as lesser beings, as creations, and the only reason they have such emotional investment is because of the dead brother and how it affects all the members in the household.Only the big sister is in a position to view the situation with a clearer head, because she must deal with irl situations of the fallout, which is why she seems more antagonistic than any of them.
>>749021014>Verso and Renoir were also painted by Alinethen why were they born in Lumiere?why did they have to go on an Expedition? you know, the thing that benefit Renoirif Aline painted them, then there wouldn't be Expedition 0 as Aline, P.Verso and P.Renoir (and P.Alicia too I guess) would've been living together as fake family.
>>749016461crazy how people on /v/ are getting filtered by him
>>749020627Humans are le bad. we, painted creatures, must live forever in the our painting world.
>>749020282>They're still npc'sSame with the painter, their npc opinions don't matter to me at all.
>>749021098Yes that would have been the point. Alicia/Maelle having lived with them for "all" her life would see them as human and side with them, while Renoir would not. The character's sides don't even change as Maelle remains on Lumiere's side, Renoir still wants to destroy the painting, and Verso is the usual bitch. The only thing that would really have changed is that the underlying struggle would have stayed consistent with acts 1 and 2 instead of switching over to the Dessendre's family issues and completely forgetting about the more important question.
test
>>749021237They were born in Lumiere because they were painted by Aline when she withdrew into the painting. I think you're not quite getting just how long she has (relatively) been there. She painted the family she wanted - Verso back, Renoir loyal and submissive to her and Alicia being punished. They went on the expedition because they went on the expedition on search and rescue - they only learned that Lumiere had been transported (from Old Lumiere) well into the Gommages, so the first expeditions were less about knowing about the Paintress and more just to figure out what the fuck is going on.Aline wasn't living with her fake family because she had to stay on the Monolith in case Renoir followed her, as I said again one more time, if she wasn't there to contest him, he could delete everything instantly. She made her fake little doll family while constantly looking over her shoulder to see if Renoir came to kick her sand castle over.
>>749021413>Aline wasn't living with her fake family because she had to stay on the MonolithSo Aline was living with her entire painted family in Lumiere before Renoir came to pursue her into the canvas?
>>749021503Are you just being incapable of reading on purpose
>>749021598The timeline regarding Alina and her painted family is a mess
>>749016461
>>749018461>>vanishes Maellehe kinda does that in the cutscene after he kills gustavemaelle is sent back by renoir
>>749019592>but wasn't she just sobbing on top of Monolith this entire timeno, she was doing whatever with the fake family until renoir came in and caused the fracture, trapping her there
>>749021503>>749021651>Aline enters the painting and settles in Old Lumiere with her painted family>Renoir enters the painting to destroy it>big DBZ fight, presumably>Old Lumiere is destroyed, Renoir is trapped under the monolith>Aline creates Lumiere with new people>Aline settles on top of the monolith to keep Renoir in his cuckcage as long as possible>expeditions happen>eventually Aline's strength wanes and Renoir is able to start the gommage>expeditions change to trying to stop the paintress
>>749022226I see, my problem was the definition of "Expedition". So when P.Renoir and P.Verso went to the monolith, it wasn't "a journey from old Lumiere to Monolith". They were already in the main continent to begin with...
How come the painter's version of him can erase things from the canvas?
>>749019592>but she was so rude to Aline and Renoir, she called them by namesFinding this rude is some american cultural thing. Yes Clea is a bitch but using names is not why
