Vanilla Skyrim is actually a pretty good game.
must resist...urge...to make........ stealth archer joke
>>749018239I always play one handed + shieldI really don't understand the stealth archer appeal. I mean, I do, it's pretty fun, but one handed and board is better for me
>>749018181Theres a reason everyone played skyrim.>>749018291I prefer 1h and magic myself.
>>749018181It was fun when I was 14 yeah
>>749018291Sword and shield is the most satisfying melee combo I think. I always wanted to do a 2handed playthrough but it gets too boring.I really hope they add dodging in first person in TES6 similar to games like vermintide, dying light, etc. Also a forward kick attack won't happen but would be cool. Anything that isn't the same ole melee spam attacking like prior games. Blocking with a shield or 2hand weapon, or doing bashes in Skyrim really makes combat more interesting, they should expand on that.
>>749018239nobody normal plays stealth archerthat's just a memeonly hecking redditors play like that
>>749018181it becomes a better game after you remove level scaling and replace it with encounter zones
>>749018181I've played thousands of hours of Skyrim with no non-canon content, only small qol stuff and graphics.
I usually just use a reshade. Thinking of trying that Mantella mod to talk to npcs with ai, would love to have actual lore discussions with npcs
>>749018181I woudn't want to play it without mods
>>749019632always funny how these guys always show the stupidest looking modded garbage with such sheer confidence
>>749019803You sound mad
>>749019825>take a shit on the floor>someone mentions the smell>"u mad lol"
>>749019938Seething even, maybe it's time for a daiper change
>>749018181That's a popular opinion
>>749020338not on /v/
>>749018181Bethesda games are good for one blind playthrough. Thats why normalfags love them,The more you know about the games, the more you start to see how shallow everything actually is.
>>749018181I get the urge sometimes to start a new game on Skyrim but then I remember basically every line of every quest and get bored>>749020593This, so much this
>>749019981calm down it's just internet commentslul
>>7490208681v1 me bitch
>>749020868>still boiling with rage, all over a little webmFucking kek
>>749018181Based and fun pilled.
>>749020997Why even be this mad? What's the point? You do know you don't have to be like that.
>>749018239I only start fights with a stealth bow attack. Sometimes I try to take out a whole bunch of fucks with it for fun but i normally I run right the fuck in with my big ass sword and start swinging like a retard. Real Nord shit.
>>749018181that's clearly modded, khajiit don't look like that.
>>749020593literally the opposite for me, the more I play Skyrim the more I love it
>>749019632I think this is cool anon. Don't let others drag you down.
>>749018181It was ok in 2011 but I've played it modded so much that I can't go back to vanilla.
>>749018181I agree but it has no replay value. You play it once and that's it. A second playthrough will just leave you disappointed by how little variety there is. Mods don't really change much, and in my opinion they're way overrated. Fallout games are much better suited to the sandbox experience that people are trying so hard to create in Skyrim
>>749018181I agree but only when you play it on a Switch Lite. A dumbed down game like that is perfect for a handheld device. I genuinely got over hundred hours in Skyrim on Switch Lite.
WOW i should really not be thinking about fucking hagsHOWEVER
I installed it again recently, it's aged horribly, I was unpleasantly reminded that sprint jumping doesn't work, animations are jank, textures look badI don't even think it's worth spending 100s of hours modding the turd to get it playable
>>749018181Morrowind is no where as bad as /v/ makes it out to be. Yes it is a little wonky but not close to awful. There l said it.
>>749021935/v/ loves morrowind though
cons>jank movement>jank menu navigation>jank gameplay>boring combat>pretty sure there is no fov slider and fps is still locked to 60>intro is too longpros>first person fantasy games are rare>huge map to explore>memorable characters and story>tons of questswide as an ocean, deep as a puddleit only has a top spot because no other studio can or want to make a similar game
>>749018181Pretty much, except for UI and high-level gameplayFirst one is fixed with skyui, the other you just llearn to cope with.Oh, and also creation club DLCs are noncanon vomit for people with average indian iq.
>>749021972Have you been in a Morrowind thread lately? It is one guy pumping his mod arguing with everyone else saying Morrowind is awful. It isn't awful by any stretch. I don't know if anons believe it is or they just like teasing the mod maker.
>>749018181There's this guy on my friend list with over 5k hours on skyrim, wtf could he possibly be doing? We're on console so it couldn't be mods
>>749018181agreed
>>749022142Doing radiant quests.
>>749018181This is a popular opinion.Retarded /v/troonoid opinion is the unpopular one.
>>749018181unpopular where? on this tranny infested site?
>>749020593I think people sometimes go into The Elder Scrolls expecting the wrong kind of RPG. More varied quests are always welcome, but TES was never really about delivering a Baldur’s Gate style experience where most of the depth comes from dialogue trees, branching quests and heavily authored choices. What TES does best is the world itself, at least since PGE was written. It gives you a big fantasy space filled with systems that overlap enough to make the place feel like it exists beyond whatever quest you happen to be doing through faking and player centered illusions. NPC routines, factions, crime, stealing, exploration, physics, magic, schedules and all the little interactions between them are a huge part of what makes these games feel different. In that sense TES sits somewhere between an RPG, an immersive sim and a world simulation game. It obviously does not go as deep into simulation as Kenshi or Dwarf Fortress and it is not as tightly designed as something like Thief, Deus Ex or Dishonored, but it takes ideas from all of those directions. So to me the ideal Elder Scrolls game is not necessarily the deepest RPG possible. It is a game where the world feels alive, consistent and interconnected enough that you can mess around with it and believe in it. Better quests absolutely help, but they are only one part of what makes TES work.
>>749018181>>749022080Toxootransmosis moment
>>749018181it's not. too repetitive.
>>749018181It's music and world are 10/10
>>749018181i have literally never had technical issues or crashes when playing vanilla fallout 3 or fallout new vegas despite playing both on multiple different computers over the years
>Play through the game without the unofficial patch or whatever it's called>Have to use the console dozens of times to fix quests and NPCs and even get unstuck from terrainI have to wonder why they never bothered to fix all these bugs when they're so well-documented. They could have even asked the community if they could include the fixes in the community patches or something. Anything would be better than just leaving them in.
>>749018181It's designless slop like all B*thesda games. And yes, that includes both Daggerfall and Morrowind.
>>749018181it's a timeless classic, a perfect video game but the proles ITT will never agree or accept perfection because they don't know dick from ass or shit from fuck
>>749022004>memorable charactersThe only thing memorable about them is how they keep harassing you to talk about the cloud district or how they work for Belethor.>and storyBig evil dragon destroy world, you chosen one kill evil dragon, save world.
>>749018181It is but it undeniably gets better with a few mods, and I don't even mean QoL stuff to make the game easier, just stuff for more variety like immersive armors and weapons, they're shit most of the time but its better than finding iron swords on 50% of the enemies in the game
>>749027912>QoL>on skyrim of all thingsYou did not beat the game.
>>749018239I actually never got that jokeI played the game a shit ton and never played stealth archer
>>749028078I agree, it doesn't need QoL which is why I said it specifically gets better with additions to the base game's variety rather than tweaks to it. You can already grab like 50 fucking cheese blocks and eat them in the middle of a fight so you never die, QoL is unnecessary
>>749022004>skyrim>memorable characters and storyI guess characters you could argue, but story? Skyrim's writing is pure dogshit. It has the worst main quest of the modern games by far and the Guild Quest writing is inexcusably bad.
>>749018717I never like using the swords in the game because they all have this dull like to them
>>749021084He cheats in single-player games, leave him alone he's clearly going through somthing
>>749018291Bow in general is fun because it allows you to use your own skill more than melee. And stealth makes you feel cool I guess. It is also op which can be fun for some time.
>>749020593Playing Skyrim instead of Morrowind is like watching a remake of a movie based on a book instead of reading the book.
>>749018181Nah, 1000+ mods + LLM + real snow + sex dungeons
>>749018181yep
>>749018181That's not an unpopular opinion. In fact going by sheer numbers it is the default opinion. Skyrim is one of the most beloved games of all time. It has not just spawned mimics, it has spawned genres.
>>749018291what is the fun of sword and board? In fact, what is the point of the "board" part? Blocking in skyrim is a waste of time.
>>749019632the sudden change to the awful anime model was a pretty good jumpscare anon.
>>749019409Mantella is shit. Use SkyrimNet
>>749018181based
>>749028989>It's not x, it's ysaar skyrim is a good game saar
>>749018181Yeah it is. /v/ is just being contrarian as usual and you know it
>>749018181I tried to get my wife into videogames and she liked skyrim for the first 25 hours. Then she said to me, "What is the point of this game?". She promptly stopped playing.
>>749018181post a screen or a webm where you are playing vanilla toddslopyou people will instale 300GB of mods just to stare at boobs for 2 minutes and then never touch this trash again
>>749029062Blocking with a shield on expert, master and legendary is crucial to succeed. Plus the perks are awesome
>>749028489Playing Skyrim over Morrowind is like watching an IMAX movie vs a rotoscope one.Don't kid yourself.
>>749018654>casually admitting to breaking global rule 2
I think the biggest problem when it comes to games like Skyrim isnt the fact that their shit but that amount of people who are going to completely ignore what it does wrong and focus on the most basic core gameplay that is killing, leveling, looting and moving around the map and being perfectly satisfied. Skyrim doesnt have to live up to the expextations set up Todd or even the description in the Steam page, it just has to tick a few boxes and everyone believes the game delivered everything that was promised to them and more and will never stop to think that anything could ever be improved. Thus the series stagnates game after game, the target audience not noticing or caring because they are only there for the simple gameplay.
>>749036065anon....
>>749019632>ragdoll kicking in on the guy getting sconed with an icicle
>>749019632I hope this is satire
>Jump off a cliff face to a lower ledge making my way down a mountain side>I die mid fall just because This is annoying, at least le me plummet to my death if the fall was really going to kill me.
Is vanilla destruction as unplayable shit as they say?
>>749036694It's fun, but only practical to be used on adept difficulty. There is no way to improve magical damage, just reduce the mana cost, which makes it sort of useless compared to weapons
>>749036694Fireball is the only relevant spell
>>749018181It's ok to play it the first time vanilla for like 40-50hs at most. But after that it gets really boring despite having a lot more quest a exploration left to do. Installing a massive amount of mods if what really brings this game to life and makes it worth put hundreds of hours in it
>>749021935/v is ObliviGOD board so yeah
>>749018181Skyrim is an excellent roleplaying sandbox and a clear improvement over Oblivion (that's not to say it's better in every respect but taken as a whole it's a strong iteration on the franchise). If you're looking for a contemporary spiritual successor to Ultima, it's the best game out there. But it became SO popular that everyone felt compelled to have an opinion about it even if those opinions basically amount to "I wish this game was Dark Souls or World of Warcraft or The Witcher instead." It doesn't help that some of those people are Morrowind fans who clearly misinterpreted the core vision of the series. (It should not come as a shock to you that the studio that made Daggerfall decided to double down on radiant systems and dungeon diving post-Morrowind.)
>>749036694Very dull and on par with most weapons until you get most upgrades and enough magicka to cast advanced stuff.
>>749018181Living Skyrim IV is where its at
>>749037772Based
>>749018181fallout new vegas would be nothing without the groundwork fallout 3 laid out and the people that shit on fo3 are video essay trannies and contrarians
>>749039087>Reusing assets from 3 was the most sifnifcant part of New Vegas
>>749037995>Skyrim>roleplayingthats one of its core issuesthere is barely any roleplaying involved, regarding the quests that is.
>>749039873Skyrim had more choice and consequences than every prior TES game combined. This is a fact.
>>749039962lmaooooOblivion's existence proves you wrong
The combat is and always was so fucking shit I couldn't finish the game. The magic schools all look cool on paper but in reality they were clunky as fuck
>>749040015How so? Oblivion had exactly one quest with choice and consequence. The consequences were fairly minor.Next time try using facts instead of unwarranted arrogance.
The people who hate it is because they didnt played as stealth archer. The people who love it is because they played as stealth archer.
>>749018181That’s not an unpopular opinion, sport.
>>749018181It's hardly an unpopular opinion.I agree though. I keep Skyrim installed on my Switch so I always have a vanilla installation to use.I always play as a spell sword.
>>749039873>storyfags when you inform them there's more to roleplaying that clicking a dialogue option to play a different cutscene
>>749040180holy bait
>>749041137That's really the biggest downside to Skyrim's popularity. It's got hoards of RPG fans on all sides who just don't understand what it's trying to do, and complain that it doesn't stack up to completely different games. One guy will say that it's unacceptable that a 2011 game has the same animation set for all weapons within a grip-type while Dark Souls managed to have unique animations for each type in the same year. Then you'll hear someone else say that it's unacceptable for the game to have such a lackluster dialogue system when games like Fallout New Vegas managed to be so much better in the year before. And yet, there's still no "Skyrim Killer" that does what this game does better.
>>749018291>stealth archerOperator/commando build.>sword&board/two-handedYour typical GI.
>>749019632Not bad until the end with that parry and that abomination.
>>749018181Man, I need to play again. This thread made me hear Unbroken Road in my head.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK3q3Jb3TCQBut yeah OP, while vanilla is nice and all the right mods enhance it just more.
