Mostly tech, QOL, graphics. What we are supposed to get is, a more social world, less power fantasy bloat, less aggressive monetization, additions that are smaller in scope (less power fantasy), trying to rein in the end game content somewhat, and focus more on the levelling and give people other motivations than the end game treadmill of raiding once you reach max level. More horizontal progression, less vertical progression.Has to be pointed out that Blizzard can't be trusted at all. Almost everyone should go in expecting something temporary, for the sake of their own mental health. If you truly want to support the game, quit once the monetization starts raping you. If the game truly is "forever" then there isn't much to lose quitting the subscription. The levelling experience alone is still worth it if you want something social.

>>749030640Adding some info about Retail since my post was all too negative about it: the game has become more of a lobby game where you queue up for the type of content you want to run, fly or teleport from place to place and have fun with it, instead of the long journey type of game that Classic is. It's more of an "Tab-based combat Action RPG" than an actual RPG you immerse yourself into. There are many many ways to play and content to run.

Doing that leveling for the first time is a great experience. Unfortunately, the servers are kind of dead at the moment due to the hype from...WoW Forever, which is coming out in a month. It's a bastardized version of Classic, but it will be a lot easier for new players to get into and will have a huge population for the first few months.
