anyone tried the sequel beta?

I tried the original recently and really liked some parts of it.
I like the backpacking adventure feel to the game,
but you hit a wall eventually where the game pushes your shit in constantly
progression stops and the only way forward is to start looking up guides online as to how to actually play this game
as the game has a very narrow band of viable skill expression
and the game refuses to explain itself why your current build isn't working

but then the guides tell me to
"pick these skills"
"pick this faction"
"collect these items"
"get this legacy item and restart the fucking game"
"now you can start play the game"

and after reading through multiple guides I'm honestly just exhausted and lost all interest in playing because my path is already set for me
I wanted to explore the world, not read guides dammit!
