It's not to shill a song that didn't get noticed and wants more attention, it exists to get a quick glance at the new songs that were posted for the first time in this thread. We are going to need more people mixing songs so we can work through all the submitted vocals in time this year.

Here's a resource of torrents for plugins you can use to help you get started with mixing your vocals and stuff later on, I pulled all of them from RuTracker: https://files.catbox.moe/vosvme.zip
It also includes some guides, and a link for both Nvidia and AMD instrumental extractors.

For audio software, I recommend REAPER. It's not as easy as Audacity, but once you learn it you'll be able to do whatever you need: https://www.reaper.fm/download.php - Mixing template is contained in the included in the ZIP I posted earlier.
Modern Audacity is apparently quite capable enough, but I haven't tested it. You can also use Ardour, which is FOSS.

Want to preview some finished songs? You can help out by timing the lyrics while you do! It's easy, and any done now will lower the pile of things we have to rush done after the 15th.

Download the audio and copy the lyrics for any song we don't have Timed Lyrics for on the Finished tab.

First, go to the website listed above. Paste the lyrics into the text area then click 'Synchronize to music'. You will be taken to a new page. Click the Audio button and select the matching music file. Then start the playback with the START button.

Now all you need to do is look at the lyrics on screen, and click "Next Line" (or your spacebar) as the line starts being sung. The lyric in the text area will be highlighted white letting you know the line was tagged. If you mess up, you can pause with the Continue button (now a timer) and click the button next to any lyric to rewind the song timing to that point. It's not super strict on timing, you're basically just listening to the song and clicking when each line starts.

When you reach the end of the lyrics you posted, the 'Next Line' button should now be replaced with a 'Get File' button which will download the .lrc file to your PC.

Now, just open the .lrc file with a text editor (even plain Notepad works) and take only the timed lyric lines alongside timestamps and paste them into Rentry. Here's an example: https://rentry.co/ypef847z

To pretty up the file optionally but recommended:
1. Read along as you time, and if the singfag changed lyrics, fix it to match what was sang in the text afterwards. Delete stuff like directions on pronunciation too.
2. Add an extra [00:00.00] timing to the start of the text, it makes the start of the song clean.
3. Delete the website's advertising bit at the end.

Made some adjustments to my Easy parody after Anon's feedback.
The song's a bit more vague now, but it also makes more sense because of it. Now it's a general "don't give up on a hard game" song. I think it works a lot better now. The title has also changed to reflect this. The old title was kind of a relic when it was a bit more of a "stop begging for an easy mode in hard games" song anyway.

I usually just have a handul of takes for higher/lower pitch, sometimes doing voices or putting on an accent. When I'm lazy I copy/paste some of them multiple times and even apply artificial pitch shift to some if I can avoid it fucking them up, then pan them all differently, then reverb the entire group at once.

Protip: don't put reverb directly on the track. Instead, create a Send to a different track, and put the reverb on that track. This has two major benefits - you get independent control of the dry and wet signal, and you can send all your vocals to the same reverb, making them sound more cohesive.

I see it as more of an idea of a personification of nostalgic gaming begging the player to come back to their childhood, because they have lost the spark that made them enjoy vidya.
Which is why I set it in a kind of sliding era.
Like, it mentions N64 and GBC, but it also mentions the dreamcast, and cites 3D sonic in a non-negative light.
In essence, the point of the song is more of a "You used to love playing games so much, everything's different now, and you've lost that spark, don't you want to come back to that?"

That's honestly kind of the point.
You can go back to your childhood all you want but it's not going to be the same as when you originally experienced it. You're an adult now, you're a different person with different sensibilities and different priorities.
Recently, I noticed on steam that they had added 3D Dinosaur Adventure, and Dinosaur Adventure 3D, which yes, is very confusing. But those games were very important to my childhood, I played them for hours and hours and hours when I was a kid.
I revisited them and it just... Wasn't there anymore.
I did the same thing with Halo 2 yesterday. Same result. I was just kind of going through the motions.
I don't necessarily think "Old Good, New Bad" is the whole story to it for the vibe my song is trying to capture, the new is just a convenient scapegoat because of the obvious negatives, while all the old is being looked at in a very rose-tinted way.
There was a lyric change the singer requested that I do think reflects this. The original was a bit sadder, and more directly referenced the player's state as an adult whose life sucks now.
I probably could have implied that theme better that it's kind of fruitless to do so. It'll never be quite the same as when you were younger, and you'll probably never feel quite that way about games again

I kinda wish the lyrics had more like "oh don't worry if you aren't feeling the spark yet, you just need to try even harder!!!" to a point of desperation. I totally get that you aren't trying to just say "old good new bad," it's just more like,
OG Static never explicitly says, "Hey isn't it kind of fucked up to keep repeating the same things over and over again even when things are worse and breaking down? Isn't it unhealthy to think of yourself as the brightest star and constantly seek external validation that it's ok not to change?" but it implies that in the lyrics without condemning CRT Miku, it's a very carefully and brilliantly written song
maybe my media literacy is just bad, but I don't get a similar sense of self awareness through your lyrics, which is sad because it would be a great fit for this song! it's not quite copying the song and transposing it into games (it's not about an old console being afraid of being forgotten) but about how no matter how hard you try, you can't ever recreate your childhood nostalgia, so maybe you need to find a different way to generate that spark (perhaps by playing great games like Triforce Heroes lmao)
anyway thanks for giving me more thoughts, I really love and respect writers who think deeply about their lyrics and try to draw out the thematic connections, those are always my favorite songs even when they're not sung well (and Fuzzy sounds like it will be sung super well!!)

Show me the place where he inserted the blade is such a good line with so many layers (implied abuse, possibly physical and or sexual and or both, but also literally about the mundane cooking show thing where the singee is trying to make some food and fucked it up and the singer is trying to help), and then both suggesting how very innocuous words or phrases can trigger PTSD and flashbacks because of unintentional phrasing, while also suggesting how we try to therapize not directly but through the mundane conversations and interactions and everyday lives for things we can't speak of directly (makes me think of the novel speak), and I feel like if I can figure out something with a similar amount of gravitas for that line, the rest will fall into place, but trying to think do something that has all of those nuances is killing me. it would be easy to do Deltaslop because that game uses almost the same metaphor with the pie knife being the knife used to open Fountains, and Susie and Kris are two traumatized kids finding comfort in one another or it could even be about Kris feeling cucked and abandoned by Noelle and Susie, but it almost lines up too well and I feel like the song wouldn't be as interesting if it can basically just be an animatic. so I want to do something different but I want to keep the artistry in the metaphor. which is also one of my favorite songs of all time. I'm trying to think of a good emotionslop game that will work as the theme for this song. It would be easy to just make up some lyrics about any game with traumatized characters which is like every other RPG out there, but I'm trying to think of something that captures at least some of the metaphorical depth of the titular line.
For example, two (or more) characters who were traumatized and now are living a domestic life, and there's some kind of mundane activity that they might talk about that could double as a reference to their trauma.

the next best thing I can think of would have to be mother 2/3. another game series with trauma out the wazoo, maybe you could liken "the blade" to giygas' desire to consume the earth and all its people to sate its cosmic appetite, and the consequences that such foreboding evil influence inevitably has on the world.

mother 2 is about a boy who has psychic powers, who teams up with friends, to whom he is tied by the red thread of fate, to save the world and prevent an ancient alien life form from invading and destroying the planet. mother 3 follows a young boy named lucas and his brother claus, who was corrupted by giyga's influence.

another good game might be lisa, but I don't know as much about that game. I really should get around to playing it.

Personally Earthbound to me feels like a kinda meh topic specifically because it's the cookie cutter option. We literally already have songs mocking "Earthbound-Inspired Games" because of how played out and oversatured Earthbound is in gaming rhetoric, which one doesn't mean we can't do songs on it but if we're already doing 1 that's a notable thing to bring up. It's not the only game that can make you cry, they should try to pick something they relate to personally imo. There are a lot of game IPs known for hiding some emotional depth perfect for centering a song around... like Telltale's Walking Dead, Portal, Outer Wilds, Persona ect.
