>>749034472unironically no. part of what made it so great was the fact that the Internet as a whole was still relatively new at the time, and there weren't nearly as many fan sites. Nowadays, you can immediately look up the answer to any puzzle, or a guide for a quest, or the 100% most efficient method of gaining XP in any skill. All of that has completely ruined the game by erasing all the "mystery".

I only remember playing runescape back when it was hosted with a bunch of other cheap games like bomerman on their website.You used to be able to mine without caring that your inventory was full, same with fishing. You would just automatically drop what would have gone into your bag.Then they introduced stamina to put an end to it where you had to keep going to a bed to rest after doing any action too much.It was so bad they changed it to sprinting instead but introduced random events to try and kill you off or add hazards to things you normally did like fishing spawning whirlpools and destroying your fishing equipment.I don' actually know what runescape became after that because my account was lost to time.

Consistently profitable PVM and dumping noted skilling mats onto every drop table ruined the game
>>749038627Funny how there isn't a single osrs-exclusive boss that doesn't have a very generous drop table (they tried that with maggot king and the playerbase chimped out immediately) when even in 2014 when osrs started to get exclusive bosses, the norm in rs3 was still that 99% of the profit comes from uniques. I don't think it was until gwd2, 2016, when rs3 bosses started shitting out normal loot too
All they had to do was tax the shit out of the GE to get the best of both worlds, you don't want to or can't find a buyer/seller fine but you pay for convenience that way your incentivised to interact with the community to get a better price. The GE has become a necessary evil because of all the rare obscure items that you might need for progression.

runescape unironically got better when they added the coin pouch, toolbelt, and lodestones and anyone who says otherwise is coping. it is very relaxing to not have to do inventory tetris every time you want to do a farm run. it's amazing to not have to bring gp with you everywhere you go. it's amazing to not have to walk across the entire map every time you want to do something.
