How's it going, devanons?
I'm slowly trudging along learning as I make a porn game. Feeling a bit down because of all the AI shit.
I'd be set for life if I could get at least 300 patreon bucks per month

>Feeling a bit down because of all the AI shit
Why? It's not like it can make a project by itself.
Just code lol.

using AI to make my own game
it's based

You can integrate AI agents directly inside Godot/Unity and have it do literally everything.
Eats tokens like a mf but theres some shenanigans you can do

>Feeling a bit down because of all the AI shit.
I'm having mixed feelings about it. On the one hand I feel a bit of despair, on the other I feel excitement. Indie devs are going to be able to do some crazy shit if they apply AI well.
>>
>>749044415
Can't even bring myself to start desu
>>
>>749044687
How you doing it? Having it help you along or fully automated?
>>
>>749044878
a bit of both. It's not as fast or easy as people say but it's faster and better than by myself since I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing.

>You can integrate AI agents directly inside Godot/Unity and have it do literally everything.
Only in a serviceable way.
It's shit to try to code on top of it.
If you vibecode, your project will be stuck as vibecoded because ai is the only thing that can make changes without breaking any of the spaghetti it made.
That being said, if you're ok with that then just do it? Why would it matter?

what the hell are you gonna do with only 300 bucks a month?

You guys pay for agents or just yolo freestyle? What you using? Tried Cursor/Grok but hit limit really fast, like in 10 minutes
>>
>>749045185
I've the 300 plan for grok so go the free cursor heavy tier or whater the max is for free
>>
>>749045185
paying for astra and it's solid enough but will probably take a year or so of consistent prompting and reevaluating to make the game I'm trying to make. The obvious danger is memory loss with the agent where it forgets what you've already done and have to constantly remind it. That's why I'm guessing it'll take a year or so.
>>
>>749045363
Easiest fix for this is to use it for features instead of project management.
Just how proompts aren't just magic words and require a million steps like inpainting, and sometimes even including manual retouches, vibecoding should be done a bit less liberally.

Stop fantasizing about having sex with other men, anon, it's very gay.
>>
>>749044415
Why Godot?
just make a VN using renpy, they are the best paying games anyways for solo devs, and if you are not solo and have friends just use unity like a normal person
>>
>>749044878
Not him but I’ve been using it for cutscenes, voice lines and finalizing character designs for reference purposes. Still designing the levels and models on my own for now but might pay some guy on fiverr to make character models for me with how long those take to do one by one when I suck at 3D modeling to begin with.
>>
>>749045660
While I'm making a VNish one on Godot (tons of interactions and minigames), Renpy would definitely be better for what I'm currently doing.
However I hope I can translate the shit I'm learning to other games in the future, instead of being stuck with Renpyslop.

only if your a jeet or some other low IQ street shitter, and "literally everything" being things you can find for free online.

i will make yyyou goin to OP

>>
>>749045905
Renpy uses python, GDscript (godot) is based on python.
Assuming you don't just vibecode and actually learn, it translates almost 1 to 1.
Use the game dev thread that shows up from time to time, is good to share progress and ask questions there.

I had Claude vibecode a C++ GDExtension implementing hierarchical flowfield pathfinding.
>>
I'm not working on anything but a game idea just came to me in a dream and now I can't get back to sleep
Was wondering if I could just oneshot prompt it like all those Twitter grifters seem to be doing but I guess that's not possible huh
>>
>>749044734
>cant change anything afterwards couse you didnt build it
>can only reliably do cookie cutter crap

Why would i ever rely on AI when i can code for real?
>>
>>749046337
please explain this to the layman vibecoder who knows nothing
>>
>>749045905
>Renpyslop
Then make good games. the engine does not really matter as long as the game is good.
Godot is just extra steps for everything vs Unity.
I don't know what game you making, but I used https://www.visionaire-studio.net/cms/features.html in the past and really liked working with it. but it's not free.
>>
>>749046315
I've used both and I much prefer godot.
It's a lot more beginner friendly as well.
It doesn't require an account to download, the projects are not several gigabytes each, and the engine itself is very light.
You can try both if you'd like though.
>>
>>749046430
If you pay for an agent you could do it
Free ones will most likely hit the usage limit 10% in.
>>
>>749046527
>Godot is just extra steps for everything vs Unity.
Blatantly not true.
Maybe in 2021 back in 3.x.
>>
>>749046520
Flowfield algorithms are basically planes filled with vectors, they are quite performative as a pathfinding solution for games needing lots of units as you are able to tell all units what direction they should try to follow without much iteration as they just need to look at the "floor" and follow the pretty virtual arrow

>It can do everything

It is just a more sofisticated autocomplete, nothing more. No one has lost a job because of it. It is no different from pressing the Tab key while working with a Linux terminal. It is built to help and it does help sometimes. Current hype reminds me about early Bitcoin and Blockchain days.

t. software developer who has been making his own game in Godot, without AI
>>
>>749045660
Godot gives you so much more freedom over Renpy and has a 10x better interface.
Renpy is good if you have 0 background in coding or have no drive to learn how due to its helmet interface.
Godot is good because it lets you get much more creative with the VN itself and lets you have a distinguished identity, especially if you have animations since Godot has dedicated animation tools, also if you plan to add minigames/ other non VN mechanics Godot is one of the best engines for that sort of thing
