Do i made a mistake by starting my introduction to the series with og version of the second game? Like, i get it, it's basically a first game in this genre they make, considering the first one was a fighter game instead, but holy shit this is clunky. Camera is too close and it's hard to quickly turn it when you need to. No targeting. Your main way of attacking enemies is a 4 hit combo, which depend of character you playing doesn't feel like it was designed around fighting huge number of enemies at the same time at all. Speaking of characters: most of the standard ones fucking sucks, i didn't try all of them yet, but the one i tried either have either a moveset issue,(Xu Zhu especially, feels like a joke character with how you get stunned after every musou attack use) lack of damage, or both. Dian Wei was cool, but even with him i feel to be forced to grind yellow turban stage to progress to the next ones comfortably.

Yes, play DW3XL instead.

Thing i didn't know as i started playing DW 2: is that apparently DW 2 and 3 have essentially the same stages and story, so starting with this one was really pointless i guess.

If you want to pretend it’s the good ol days, start with 4. It’s got cheesy VAs but not as le funny and a good mix of seriousness and good gameplay.

Beat story:7
Beat gameplay: 4/8
Best music:7 and 8
