Different guy, I feel like they're a cheap way to make RPGs more exciting without actually designing an engaging RPG. It could just be nostalgia, but I feel like only Mario got it right. Also, if the game has that issue where there's just 1 move that's too good, so there's no reason to spam it every battle, it's a graver flaw when you need to do a QTE each time.
