How does one actually go about getting into this game these days?Like, what the different jobs excel at or how to farm and build them?Yeah the game is mostly dead but what if I wanted to give it a try when one of those new private servers pop up?It's basically impossible to find any real guides that would help beginners.

>>749050403>It's basically impossible to find any real guides that would help beginners.there are quite a few guides out there but they usually target a specific iteration of the game or even worse, a specific server's mix. depending on how legacy the server you join is, they probably have guides on their message board for every class. if you're just playing classic 99/50 or 99/75 there are enough resources to get by. renewal stuff is less catalogued and generally varies a lot more, and iro itself doesn't even have many guides for later content. i guess that's where making friends comes in.

The magic is just kind of gone for me now. I loved manually exploring new maps and discovering good grind spots and gear drops. Making my own class builds was a lot of fun.

>>749055817the wiki does a decent job at explaining the classes. if you are playing an older version, use the gamefaqs guides as there are basically guides on every meta build. it's not really as simple as 1 class = 1 role, especially older version where there was decent build variety, but the classes are fairly traditional rpg fare. wizard = long cast time high damage, crusdaer = high hp tank class, assassin = high atk spd crit, merchant = use money to do damage

Anyway, stay away from high rate servers, look for something at 5x exp at most. Thief is the easiest class for beginners but very basic, followed by swordsman then mage. Avoid acolytes first.

It's not designed the same way as post-WoW MMOs.Truly the most fun you will ever possibly have in RO, is the first time you're playing, when you're just slowly pushing through, figuring out what's where, where you can go and fight and where you can't, what areas are suited for you and which aren't, exploring new maps and running the fuck away from shit, etc.

the problem with a game like this is that every single person playing it now is an ultra-autist pro that knows all the optimal ways to play, so if you just want to fuck around and experience the game at a modest level, you'll be 100% playing by yourself (or with whatever friend you manage to convince playing)
