To me, the most ridiculous thing about this story isn't that Kannon is one of Shannon's alter egos (which proves that everyone in that island is retarded or schizophrenic), but that Maria has a condition never before depicted in the entire world of fiction (or in the real world, for that matter): instead of recognizing people through sight, hearing, touch, etc., she recognizes them by the way they present themselves to her. If a busty woman says, "I'm your grandfather Kinzo!", Maria will literally see an old, alcoholic, incestuous oldfart standing right in front of her. And what's worse: realizing that Maria has this condition essential to solving the mystery.To me, that's definitive proof that the author of Umineko is a terrible storyteller.

So she will indulge someone who genuinely plays along with her fantasies. Maybe it's a little unrealistic because even a child might realize they're in a life or death situation and just tell the truth of what they actually saw but it is also established that Maria trusted the busty lady.
