As someone who lives in the uk, may allah forgive me, i can say that the design and attention to detail put into every inch of the setting of St.Amelia is fucking immaculate.That is the only good thing i can say about Townfall.>Music? entirely forgettable.>Characters? one dimension and uninteresting>Monsters? worst since Downpour>Gameplay? dogshit "cop a squat and crabwalk around patrolling mallcops" stealth like Amnesia but worse.Its such a waste of a setting and art style. Walking around the town is great. The same way f's Ebisugaoka sold a portrayal of 60's japan in the boonies Townfall really pulls off a mid 90's uk town in all respects. Its fucking immaculate. But the gameplay is just the worst in the series and makes it impossible to recommend.Like its so bad i honestly would have preffered a walking sim like Dear Esther or Everybody's Gone to the Rapture instead.What a waste. The absolute state of it.

Combat got a bit samey but thats never been the series strong suit and the characters were memorable, music was fantastic, enemies were nice riffs on Sh1-4 monsters and it actually ties into the mythos and expands on by explaining the cult didnt just go from europe to america but anywhere white claudia would grow to insert themselves into the local religion to twist it into something evil over time.Townfall is just "what if we did the amnesiac jacobs ladderman like SH2...again?". I dont know why western devs can't stop imitating 2. Its a fantastic game but it already exists and at best they will make an inferior imitation. They could have leaned into celtic stuff or why people suddenly felt the need to built a town on a lifeless, uninhabited island a few generations back but nope. Jacobs Ladder. Again. 'member? that movie? i 'member.
They did a really good job with that line of bunting floating in the wind. It was fun seeing it literally everywhere
