I am pretty dogshit at games that require having good aim to do well. I play on PC with mouse and keyboard for pretty much all shooting games. However, I am dog shit at pretty much all shooting games. I do better in games with higher TTK like arena shooters. However, I am complete dog shit in games like counter strike or games with lower TTK's. What can I do to be better at shooters?

This is a side question but my mouse is doing some weird shit where it seemingly hangs randomly while moving my mouse along the pad. Right now I have it set to 800 DPI. Not even sure how mouse settings like DPI impact your ability to aim.

Use your brain and think harder while playing so even if you lose the aim game you're ahead in weapons/armor/health/map control/etc and can tilt your odds. Instead of just preparing to shoot gamers, actively try to picture where they are, what they're most likely going to be moving towards, either in preparation or reaction. This doesn't work in all games, eg super low TTK ones where whoever sees and clicks the other guy first always wins. Just don't play those games. They actually suck.

have you tried cleaning the read eye? Just take a q-tip and wipe it clean.

A good way to get better at shooters is to turn your sensitivity down in game, and get yourself a bigger mousepad. It makes aiming a more deliberate action instead of a twitch or a flick.

I do have a larger mousepad. Does DPI actually impact anything when it comes to aiming?

have your tried cleaning the mouse, mousepad, is the mousepad on a flat surface.
are you sure all the isnt some software bullshit like mouse acceleration or some ingame option fucking it up? its not just the game you have to worry about windows will fuck with you and if you had to install software for the mouse that will fuck with you too.
dpi is essentially sensitivity on the hardware side vs setting it ingame.

You might just be playing at a low framerate. 60 fps is low for shooters and tracking moving targets becomes vastly easier the higher you go. FPS games are unironically one of the most p2w genres for that reason.

You don't need to be more accurate you just need to shoot more bullets.
