The game's production cost was $40 million.
They've already recouped their costs.
That's what matters most.
>>
>>749103387
Waiting for a steam sale. I just grabbed pragmata for 50 bucks. Will grab dawnwalker when it's a similar price. (Both should have fucking launched at 50).
>>
>>749103387
It's not a bad game, but there's not that much to discuss once you complete it.
Maybe they'll add something interesting in the first patch coming soon. Or announce a DLC though I'm not sure how that would work.
>>
/v/ doesn't care about this game
>>
>>749103871
>but there's not that much to discuss once you complete it
Yeah, there is
The great world building, which characters are cool and which ones suck, the best quests, where and when the next game should take place. Stories of what choices you made in the game.

There's plenty to talk about. And we would if anyone actually played this game.
>>
>>749103957
>The great world building
There are vampires, and fairies, mountain trolls and werewolves (not appearing in this game), and uh...
> which characters are cool and which ones suck
Brencis, Bakir, and Mihai are cool in very different ways. Isbrand was cool before he got mindbroken, but I don't know how much longer I can endure listening to his ptsd attacks. The rebels suck.
>the best quests
Easily Lunar Tournament, what a ride.
The cathedral part of the sword quest was great, collecting the shards less so.
Vicho gets a honorable mention for how easily missable the second part is.
I liked the sanzhani quest that sent you into the kobold gave because the dialogue gave me a chuckle. The ultimate reward for doing all quests was a great idea too, very flavorful.
>where and when the next game should take place
If they want to play it safe I'd like Ludwig II era Bavaria or Paracelsus era Switzerland.
If they are feeling more adventurous maybe they could do something in the Aztec Empire.
>>
>>749103387
I havent finished yet. Im on day 20 or so. Was trying to do some side quests and exploraiton + geting buffed so I can face that fucker who imprisoned my lovely family!
Problem is I have all the parts to build a new PC but since I have never done it i've been delaying it. I want to continue playing with new PC since on this one it lags a lot in a city and I want maximum experience.
sick game tho, i like it.
>>
>>749105891
It isn't a bad idea to wait for the patch anyway since they are apparently unfucking the combat camera and disengaging. There's a mod for it but I haven't tried it yet. Ideally though I'd like them to restore full movement during combat, so you could run or teleport freely.
>>
>>749103387
I was hesitant to try it because I find the whole notion of a "good vampire" to be retarded. But I pirated it, and it was absoloutely terrible. I stopped playing almost imediatley when an adult man ran around "bullying" the MC by shouting at him the most childish "insults" I have ever seen . "I bet you touch your girlfriends boobs". "Your mother stink" and dumb shit like that. But the game treats it serious. And then when you catch him, the father of this ADULT HUMAN MALE lets you punish his son by very lightly "whipping him with a small stick, which (((Cohen))) does, but seems reluctant, no matter which choice you make. As if he feels terrible for doing something so horrible as corporal punishment ON AN ADULT MAN THAT USES BOOBIES AS AN INSULT.

>The great world building
On one hand, the world building does seem pretty cool. Especially the Anchovies stuff.
On the other hand, FUCK them for the way they had books be randomly placed. I explored every fucking inch of every house and still had a bunch of books missing. I might have missed something cool for all I know.
>which characters are cool and which ones suck
I like Coen, Anca, Brencis, Floris, Mihai and Drago. Didn't mind Ambrus, Lacra, Vicho and Neberu but wasn't particularly enamored with them either.
Didn't really like anyone else.
>the best quests
First off, the prologue. I'm still mad that they changed the game to have its time limit castrated because the prologue promised great thing and it was the one thing that remained unchanged.
Outside of the prologue you got the Convent quest with Anca, which was incredible (The one in the ruins after less so), the part where you go to the caves and later to hell with Lacra and the Lunar Tournament, the other quest in this game that has some sort of time limit associated with it.

I also have a soft spot for the quest where you find the one dead werewolf. I thought it was a cool way to introduce the werewolves without the budget to actually implement them.

>where and when the next game should take place
Someone in another thread suggested Russia during Ivan the Terrible.
>>
>>749105082
>Easily Lunar Tournament, what a ride.
why? you just follow the path and kill the same 5 enemies you kill for the entire game. This time without your gear so it can be even more tedious
>>
>>749108450
NTA but it's cool the things you can do before the tournament with your limited time and it affects the game later, also you can't use your vampire powers or you get found out.
>>
>>749103387
Best RPG I have played in years, they have surpassed CDPR.
>>
>>749108706
Forgot to add, terrible pick of engine though, UE5 is shitty.
>>
>>749107737

I don't like a single quest except the final one and the one with the wizard in a tower. Who cares about meme context when you are going to face the same opponents each time, killing them in the same way and get nothing as a reward because of the retire scaling system. The only reward is the CONTEXT but when that becomes repetative or you are involved with uninteresting characters, it feels like a chore.

Not like quests require any special gifts or powers or approach to solving. You follow your witcher sense until you find a group of the same 5 enemies and you kill them. Every single time.

The worst offense was when I was following that super mysterious quest to find remains of this long forgotten epic pagan hero that could kill everything with his mighty sword, only to find his tomb and its a literal enemy model I have fought at least 50 times before that and IN THE VERY PROLOGUE. Its beyond lazy.
Same moveset, same pattern. Same sound effects.
>>
>>749108450
I have a soft spot for game show quests, so the premise was already appealing. Mixing them with ridiculous over the top blood sports commentary is just good fun, and a nice change of pace.
But as the other anon said, that quest is the one that gives you the most choice and consequence, even if all of it only affects how the quest plays out. The best part is that you can go through the tournament, maintain you cover to the end, never drop the act, and at the end just grab your reward and leave without fighting Bakir. It's easily the most fun I've had with a quest in this game.
>>
>>749109243
Good. Now tell me, what was the reward?
>>
>>749109243
>Mixing them with ridiculous over the top blood sports commentary is just good fun, and a nice change of pace.
what? theres like ONE Line for each encounter
>>
I started it but I'm waiting on the October patch to continue playing.
>>
>>749109390
You are given a choice between multiple pieces of the same level scaled loot that you find everywhere, or if you prefer just cash.
But of course, that isn't the point. You would be able to take everything, including skill books and Bakir's unique gear if only you've fought him.
The point is that the one thing you want from him he won't give to you, and yet you can still decide to take the consolation prize and leave without a fight, betraying the person who arranged this opportunity for you.
>>
>>749109525
That's ignoring the many different opportunities to abort the tournament through choice or skill use, putting yourself into varying degrees of disadvantage equipment and opponent-wise for the boss encounter. Come on man, there isn't anything else in Dawnwalker coming anywhere close to being this freeform.
>>
>>749108898
Small budget, please understand.
But jokes aside, it's just a tradeoff. They wanted a decent combat system that feels rewarding, so adding new enemy types is a pain in the ass. For me the context is more important than the enemy types, though I do hope they will improve on all departments for the sequel.

The loot system, on the other hand, is something that is completely indefensible.
>>
>>749109243
>and at the end just grab your reward and leave without fighting Bakir
I did this accidentally and then loaded back in. This game definitely has issues with its dialogue system. Why would I assume that Coen says "Sure, give me a magic bracelet of infinite power" and then not kill him anyways? But no, he just leaves and tells the jester guy to fuck off. Loaded back in immediately after I was done laughing.
>>
>>749103526

The time mechanic was a poor choice and it's 25% woke so it didn't Chud's blessing.
>>
>>749110703
Disregard that, I think it's time for me to catch some sleep.

I didn't even do that. I called you a chuddie and a filtered casual.

it's too expensive for what it is and from what i heard gameplay is not really all that good. i don't realy care if it has a good story or whatever if gameplay, the most important part of a videogame to me is shit
i will buy it on a good discount. i have so many other games to play that dawnwalker is being like my 10th priority
>>
>>749111375
The combat system itself is better than it has any right to be. Now encounter design, on the other hand.
>>
Cannot play sexy vampiress, male characters are boring (although, the witch tattoo armor makes Coen very lickable).
>>
>>749103387
I didnt forget it, im just waiting for a few more patches to iron out all the kinks also i dont have the time holy fuck so many good games released
>>
Be honest anon, you modded out the time limit
>>

I haven't finished it yet I don't want to get spoiled
>>
>>749103387
There's a thread in the catalog though.
>>
I haven't tried it yet, but can you just run into Brencis castle and just try to kill him day 1 without doing any quests?
>>
>>749111375
I like it on the hardest difficulty. Great mix of action and rpg
>>
>>749114064
I did not. And I'm mad the devs essentially modded it themselevs right before release.
>>
>>749114234
Yeah, and the ending will be the same. Don't expect your choices to matter much aside from the final slideshow. There's no morality system either so it doesn't matter how many people you kill.
>>
Disliked the game, very disapointing, time limit was a pain in the ass from the start with the prologue where you cant fully explore the village and the relation you have with the villagers
Then, theres the open world who's too big for its own good, its mostly just attack this camp or destroys material, that or dogs/wolf and bears

Boyard stuff gets annoying very quickly but on top of that the Main Quests are very undevelopped, they end way too quickly and you're left with the impression they cut it short, except the Alin story, that was kino actually
So does Side quests, although they were some great gems like Virgo or the Matriarch daughter
Then theres the shitty DEI quest, this game felt like a reddit of Kcd2 with the faggots, jews, muh strong wise independant woman, the men who act too rash and ofc they managed to find a way to put a nigger on it
But worst of all was time limit, it was sold as a way to make each experience unique but no matter what you do, the endings are more or less the same, Lunka becomes a vampire even if it doesnt make sense if the 30 days expire and on top of that, if you really wanna enjoy fully the ending, you have to do all sidequests in the prologue which you ironicly cant

It was a great game that was really immersive and well written

I'd give it a 9/10

When I started the Anca quest with the font, in her hovel she said she had a letter for me. I assumed she auto-gave it to me but I checked a bit later and all letters have a green tick on them. What was that letter?

Is there a timer in the game? I really don't like the idea; I like to wander around and do side quests

But this is not forgotten - if anything, this will live on for much longer than even many good games. Concord is a game with a vast amount of fanbase even if it only lived for like 2 weeks. Avowed is a discount gayer Concord - it will live on forever.
>>
>>749119087
Certain things, mainly quests and generic things like bandit camps, take time slots. You have 8 for day, 8 for night, for 30 day/nights. Fast travelling, moving around, exploring, killing things are all free - though with the latter, not if its a side activity like a camp or a quest thing. The point is, you're nkt rushed, you just have to pick and choose what to do that moves time on. If you run out of time the game continues but your family is dead. You could also just save before the boss's castle, finish the game, then reload and do all the content you ignored.
>>
>>749119457
i see. thanks

I beat the game, it was fine. I still kinda wished there was a mode to give you unlimited time to do every quest after you beat it.

you have to be an extremely shit gamer to run out of time, i killed the big 3, did the legendary armor and sword quest, romanced the hag (best girl) and did all the other unique side quests and had like 13 days left.
you get a full day/night back for completing one of them as well.

play on the hardest difficulty on your first play through, makes the combat fun
>>
>>749119621
It's a matter of principle. There are other ways to make the game harder

its not about making the game difficult though? I think you missed the point of the time system
>>
>>749103387
Everything I've seen about this game makes it look like an Indian-tier game.
>>
The time resource mechanic is pretty interesting but has a lot of stupid shit attached to it. I don't like how learning perks takes up an hour. I don't like how repairing shrines takes an hour. I did a quest last night that said it would take 4hrs but ended up taking 12 instead.
I want the devs to continue developing it instead of tossing it. But there is no point in doing some activities because the time it takes is more valuable than the reward they offer.
>>
>>749119953
Svartrau is way too clean for that to be true.
>>
>>749119958
It actually takes up 90 mins because there are 16 segments to a 24 hour period. But yeah, agreed. What does and doesn't take time, and how much time it takes, is badly done. And the fact that you may initiate a questline that says 2 time bits, but you have no idea how many stages there are and therefore no idea how much total time it'll take (like that blind nigger's quest must take about 20+).
>>
>>749103387
Not a lot of meat on the bones. At its core 70% of the game is ubisoft tier collectathon marking shit off the map.
>>
>>749119942
Can you explain to me what the point is? I beat the game with plenty of time left, having done everything I wanted to do. My character was so powerful Brencis wasn't even a challenge. I loaded a save before getting the endings I wanted and did what I missed. Genuinely what does the timer add to this game?
>>
>>749120165
>And the fact that you may initiate a questline that says 2 time bits, but you have no idea how many stages there are
I did a Quest called Home Sweet Home which said it would take 4 segments. After I finished I had lost nearly an entire day. Then I found out that if you keep doing the "loop" of that quest 4 times then you actually just lose 1hr. I have no clue if that's intended or was a bug.
