With the speeds you have to hit, you have no idea how tight you have to take corners before it's too late, throwing you into a pointless trial and error loop.

Anon is complaining that he can't reasonably contend with the courses since he doesn't know what they are like ahead of time and it isn't obvious just how tight turns are and how much he needs to slow down. If anon had a co-driver calling out how tight a turn is, then anon would know how tight the turn is and be able to adjust speed. Rally using notes about the track and call outs supports the idea that it is important to have some warning about how you should handle a turn beyond what you can see, which seems like a reasonable complaint to me. Takedown builds are incredibly strong too, especially if you get the favor that allows for more parts on your craft. A lot of the best takedown parts are compounding increases that carry on through the current run regardless of what race you're on. Liking this game a lot so far but man the podracing implementation has been REALLY lackluster. Just played a multiplayer campaign and it went more or less like this:

You're not hitting 900 on ramjet without absolute god roll parts all maxed out to legendary, which is the same situation with afterburner.

Afterburner is clunkier to build but safer because it's not cucked by the elements. Afterburner works no matter the situation, and the Afterburner style is completely viable for Chamo difficultyt. Ramjet has more parts and synergies but a stiff breeze or non-ambient temps will fuck it, but you can also weaponize those elements to work in your favor.

Anon the ONLY actually unfair thing the game does is yank a token off you if you crash out on the pod racing segment on Jakku. Pick the survivor class so you have guaranteed shield to mitigate some of the tight corners. Doesn't even compromise speed since it gets a natural speed boost before crashes. Brake + Drift lets you take corners extremely tight. Pick upgrades that scale with takedowns so you can hang back a bit slower to watch the glowing racers take the several differents routes and react and learn the corners and while also scaling your own speed

I think people only think this because some of the early racers/styles you unlock are HEAVILY ramjet focused. Afterburner is great and valid but it's something you need to lean into and make sure you get good upgrades for, if you're trying to do afterburner focus on Biddy or Quill you're just shooting yourself in the foot and if you get cucked by RNG then eh can't do much, it happens with every build

Is it your first run? Because Chapter 2 ramps up the speed and enemy aggression, and it increases again in Chapter 3.

You're not expected to win on the first run, you don't have anything unlocked. You don't have any of the favors that give extra part slots or more money, and you don't have the Legendary cards that give 200% bonuses. The first run is always going to fail before the finale because you can't scale properly.

Malik really is a bastard. I've been playing him and you feel like such a scumbag spamming ion bolts and ramjet slamming into people to get the surge off. The worst part about the playstyle is it actually works shockingly well, especially if you get the multi-bolt upgrade so you can taze half the lobby at the start.

He's stupidly good for making credits, to the point sometimes it can be worth throwing the lead just to inflict more system malfunctions or takedowns on players. Everyone will hate you just as you said though, half the lobby turns red cause you'll have inevitably screwed them somehow
