Why Nintendo abandoned Mario Kart World as soon as it released? They even went back and updated MK8 instead
This shit was sold at $80 and has had zero fucking updates almost 2 years since then
Sonic Crossworlds was fucking robbed from GOTY by this turd that not even the most cultist tendie likes
>>
I'm not saying it is the best Mario Kart game, I'm not saying that.

But I do appreciate the interconnectivity between all the tracks, the "world" aspect. It could have been better, but I like it.

>interconnected tracks
Didnt SSX3 do that shit like 23 years ago. Except people actually liked it.
>>

Idk, probably, and even outside of racing games, any game that builds a massive world like GTA, Dark Souls, BotW etc could easily just make boundaries like that so it's not like MKW is doing anything truly unique in terms of building a world.
Alls I'm saying is that I like it.

>>749389479
Yeah, I love to race on straight roads too.

An open world Mario Kart sounds like a dream come true. I don't understand how Nintendo squandered it so badly. And then the disrespect they threw towards the people who spent $80 on it. Absurdity.

how, genuinely? it sounds so stupid to me

I would agree if the new DLC were mostly new tracks and not just mute characters.

I used to spend a lot of time driving around the maps on Mario Kart games to see more details about the world, especially Double Dash. It felt like one giant world and I wanted to drive further to see what else was out there. Then you have all the NPCs cheering you on from the side and can see houses and stuff around the tracks. It looked fun to explore. But they didn't make the world lively in World. Also when you create an open world racing game, you would expect special events and things around the map specifically tailored for the map itself. See the Mario Kart Wii tournaments, or Mario Kart DS's missions. I expected a lot more of stuff like that, you know boss fights, challenges like hitting x amount of Goombas, or racing backwards down the track, etc. You got some stuff like that, but it didn't seem like much thought or attention was put into it.
For example, you have Nabbit sometimes out in the wild. Why not have him challenge you to a race around a portion of the track instead? You got the Bullies in the game- why not have a boss battle where you need to knock X amount of them into the lava? You got Fuzzies, why not give them an effect that disorients you, and you have a challenge to finish 3 laps where there are Fuzzies everywhere making you disoriented? I don't know man, stuff like that sounds fun to me.

I used to do that too, but I knew for a fact they couldn't match what I imagined with an open world. It's a "never meet your heroes" kind of situation

and to be terribly honest, I'm fucking tired of seeing every Nintendo IP going open world

What kind of DLC would even work for MK World anyway? The whole gimmick was the stupid "open world" that connects each track, it's not like they can just add new full tracks to the game, and likewise they added as many characters they felt would fit, not saying they're good, but at this point I've accepted they're never adding shit like the RPG characters or characters from the Wario, Yoshi, or DK games, sans the odd exception like Funky Kong

Don't even get me started on crossover characters, which were one and done thing with MK8

SSX3 was an extreme let down.

I think they could have done this without making a stupid world by just having the game generate a path to the next track regardless of location.
>>
>>749389343
>zero fucking updates
bait used to be subtle
>>
>>749393127
who could ever forget them graciously letting you race on the tiny throwback tracks that were already in the game, thanks nintendo

>>749389343
>MKW gets all QOL updates and no content
>Crossworlds gets all content and zero QOL
interesting
>>
>>749393213
Nintendo and Sega are both very retarded but for different reasons
>>
>>749391389
ages ago I thought it'd be neat if every track was connected and you could race through all of them on one big circuit. of course my idea was that it'd be all actual race courses and not 90% empty fucking highway which is obviously where me and nintendo differed
>>
I wish they did it like Diddy Kong Racing and had a main adventure mode and bosses and such

Because it isn't fun. What fun is a racing game where the track is a suggestion and you can't tell what's considered in bounds or out of bounds without spending hours falling off it in various angles?

Mario Kart World is the epitome of modern Nintendo, a 5/10 game that is worse than every entry before it but is for some reason heralded as the greatest thing ever by people who booted it up for a couple of hours at launch and have spent more time trying to justify their purchase on 4chan than actually playing it.

Every single exclusive for the console is like this and it's never going to get better.
>>
>>749393503
sonic is a good lil whore
>>
>>749393616
sega genuinely being unable to afford their own game development is funny
