I think Rogue needs better class systems and sub class perks. Not for combat, Sneak attack is fine but they should really be the kings of raw utility. The way the class is built it's almost never worth sticking to Rogue instead of multi classing into Ranger or Fighter or even Wizard for Arcane Trickster.Still Gloomstalker Assassin Dark Urge was fun.

Although it's not like there is anything to synergize with the characters don't really have flavourful fighting styles especially the meleeAnd another big thing about gear progression is visual, seeing your character look more and more badass. The artstyle in BG1/2 don't help with that. (In BG3 your gear starts out looking pretty simple meanwhile for some reason BG1/2 made the default helmet this extravagant bulky thing with wings looking like something you should get from endgame)
