Yeah I really have no idea what the fuck could have caused all this sudden interest in the Switch 2. Couldn't be gaming's Barbenheimer moment or anything like that. In all seriousness though, OotMake is like the perfect counter programming against GTA6: it's only on Switch 2, it ropes in several people who aren't really into games anymore (like 90% of people who are going to buy GTA6 who only buy one game a decade that has Grand Theft Auto in the title), the game is pretty much the antithesis of what GTA6 is. GTA6 is supposed to be the "future of gaming" and trying to be as realistic as possible in the typical boring Rockstar way that normies eat up; OoTmake is the ultimate retelling of gaming's greatest fable, a testament of the 3D game that was the foundation for all 3D adventure games that followed after it.

Also on top of OoTmake, you have a library already loaded with upgraded Switch 1 games, Bananza, Mario Kart, Prime 4, Pokopia, Star Fox, Fire Emblem, pretty damn near something for everyone. Oh yeah and Switch 2 Sports coming out soon. Switch 2 is also the cheapest console now and gaming PCs very rapidly became unaffordable to most people.

I think the biggest factor is the third party support. Switch 2 has received enough current-gen multiplats that people are starting to view it as a direct PS5 competitor. This is happening just as Playstation and Xbox hike all of their prices. The Switch 2 went up too, but every other console went up a lot more. It's the cheapest current-gen console available. The public perception now is that Switch 2 can deliver the PS5 experience with handheld flexibility as long as you can tolerate reasonable graphical compromises. That's attractive.

The other reason is the exclusives. FOMO is a big driver of Nintendo hardware sales, and nornies don't want to miss out on the Ocarina remake. Having Pokopia content all over people's social media feeds drove a ton of Switch 2 purchases. Nintendo knows how to keep that going.

Even as a Nintendo fanboy, Bananza doesn't look that appealing to me, I'm sort of bored of Mario Kart. Pokopia looks okay I guess but not something I really care about. As for why I haven't just bought one even though I know I'm almost certainly going to eventually? I mean, pretty much just comes down to money man. It's a tough economy out there right now. $700 isn't something I can easily spend for something that might end up just collecting dust for awhile. I know, I'm going to buy it eventually, why does it matter if I drop the money now or in a year? I guess it doesn't really, but you never know, I just think it's better to hold onto my cash until I really want the thing. I would think a lot of people are in a similar situation. People don't have a lot of disposable income right now, they want to be really, extra certain before they go in for a big purchase.
I do sort of regret not getting in before the price hike, but it is what it is.

The only SW2 game I'd kinda want to play is Bananza, but even then it's only "kinda" so it's one of those games I'd maybe pick up if I already had the console, but certainly not something I'd buy a console for. Other than that I can't think of anything at all.

Bought switch 1 OLED version, played 2 games exclusive to nintendo and forgot about it for 1.5 years. Wanted to sold it like 3 month ago so I lurked for how much I could get rid of it and I was surprised how 95% of people selling these were same as me: used it a few times, maybe for 1-2 months and forgot about it. I don't know maybe it's because I'm european and nintendo is really japanese/american thing but it's just not like playstation or pc it feels like it doesn't have much to offer. Maybe steamdeck would be better as it's just your pc steam library but on smaller screen you take to bed with you.

The only Switch 2 exclusive that has ever made me want to get a Nintendo Switch of any kind (whether Switch 1 or Switch 2) is Metroid Ravenous.
The game has a very, very high bar to pass for me to actually get a Switch 2 -- the high bar being it should at least be as good as Zexion.

The first party games are definitely lacking but OTOH it does seem like it's more of a viable 3rd party platform this gen than the Switch 1 was, if you can stomach the game prices. Some of the Switch 2 ports so far surpass the Series S in terms of fidelity and performance and once the games advertised on the last Direct release, it's pretty much within spitting distance of PS5 and Xbox with current gen 3rd party titles.

It has some genuinely fun map design, the individual Part 1 stories and characters are enjoyable, and it's easily got the best worldbuilding of any FE and even any JRPG I've played. As a first timer, this fire emblem game is the biggest piece of time wasting dogshit ive ever seen from nintendo. Damn near every scene is just a bunch of exposition dumping for some overly convoluted setting. Theres a bunch of secondary gameplay that is so unbaked they just let you skip it so you can get to the next exposition dump. Even the strategy battles have an auto-play feature.

With those 3, I bought it and I've played my switch 2 a lot. Way more than my Steam deck. I bought a deck earlier in the year because I prefer portable games and thought it would be a cool emulation machine. I haven't used it in months. Last game I played was Digimon and binding of Isaac I think?

I don't see Switch 2s in public in my town. Then again my town is a shithole full of fent, meth, and illegals now. And the schools have a ban on electronics. Though I mostly see kids playing gatchas and Roblox on phones in public.
