>Meet Anon. Age: thirty-four. Occupation: professional bystander to his own existence. He is a citizen of a digital metropolis, currently navigating a neighborhood known simply as /v/. In this roiling corner of the ether, Anon does not play games; he merely deconstructs them, armoring his profound isolation in fifteen layers of razor-sharp irony and a chronically online, hyper-satiated state of severe coomer dependency. He believes he is a master of the bait, a king of the charts, safely insulated behind a wall of total anonymity.

>What Anon doesn't realize is that the keyboard beneath his fingertips is about to enter a command he cannot delete. He has just logged off from reality, and posted a thread straight into... The Twilight Zone.

It probably is possible to construct a pretty compelling episode intro for an Anon on /v/, consisting of language appropriate for the air at the time.
I don't really approve of the chunk between "Anon does not play games;" and "He believes he is a master...". I'm not digging up old Twilight Zone episodes to check if they used expressions that might lean a little too hard into jargon, concerning "master of the bait" in particular. Coomer, being inappropriate aside, is probably too niche for a general television audience.
>enter a command he cannot delete
submit something he cannot delete*
>and posted a thread straight into...
I'd opt for something more along the lines of "starting a thread in...", personally
I'm too tired beyond the obvious of "Anon" needing to be replaced with someone's actual name but in this context it's fine you know what I'm getting at.

How would a Twilight Zone video game even play? A core essence of the very show is the twist ending (not always, but undoubtedly still key to the essence), so how does that translate into gameplay? The easy mode answer is just an interactive episode, ie a visual novel, and yes that's probably the best way. But can you think of a more creative concept? Harder still, can you think of a concept which has replay value? I would say off the bat here that 'multiple possible twist endings' would be very hard to do with a good story that makes sense simultaneously, thought it could be done if you just leaned into a really silly concept where the multiple possible twists don't need to make sense.
>>
What did we think of the reboot? I saw the first(?) episode with the guy on the plane and I thought it was okay.

I don't know how to do Twilight Zone specifically, but there are games that do twists in the gameplay. Tunic has whole mechanics available to you from the start that you simply don't know how to activate until you find documents telling you. But if you knew ahead of time, you could do it before finding any documents. There are games that fuck with your UI like Nier Automata or Eternal Darkness. You could do 'twists' in that vein.
>>
>>749434320
Probably something like World of Horror where there's sort-of "pre written" stories, but the game has a highly replayable structure with a lot of variables. Point-and-click format goes with the player's natural urge to investigating the world and figure out its core mystery.
>>
>>749434456
Just buy a external disc drive. That way, you can play DVDs on your computer.

There's no need to be rude. Don't you think that there's probably an unspoken reason why I don't just buy a new one? It's because I'm saving up my money right now. I could just by a new DVD player anyway, but then I could just buy a lot of things, you have to stick rigidly to saving up or it defeats the purpose. That's why I can't (or won't) just buy a new DVD player, now that you know the reason I hope you would retract the hurtful comment.

It's an OCD type of thing. They have to screen everything for their obsession first or their mind won't stay quiet. It's a constant fixation, imagine if you really really had to piss but no matter how much you piss it doesn't go away, it's that urgent for them. It's an almost physical urge to constantly check for indians/trannies/nazis/my little pony/etc behind every corner. The worst part is that at any time they could develop a new fixation and there's nothing they can do about it, it just happens one day and they're helpless. Then they come here to post about it and we all have to read it.

>>
>>749434320
Narrative driven game would be the easiest sell, you could do an infocom text adventure, a Lucasarts/Myst-like graphical adventure, a walking sim or a visual novel. Maybe an escape the room kind of game.
Beyond that, I dunno a creepypasta cliche meta-style game where you have a “haunted game” that slowly degenerates into something else would work.
You could do adaptations of individual episodes if you were inclined.
The spirit of Twilight Zone is a black and white look, a person caught in a weird situation, and an unexpected twist.

the problem with the twighlight zone is that its episodes are typically driven by an illogical character flaw of the protagonist. how do you make the player act out something that's obviously detrimental? without the player just immediately deciding oh okay, I'll just make the obvious grow as a person choice.
gamifying usually implies logical resource driven behavior.

The episode from the first season, which aired in 1959, about the guy who travels back in time to an idyllic small town in the 1880s really drives home the fact that every generation looks back on an idealized past. I remember watching it back in the 90s and thinking that the 50s were supposed to be a golden age, but back then they just looked further back. I guess you'd go all the way back to antiquity doing this if you kept tracing it further.

I know for a fact it at least goes back to the 16th century.
Then there's the ancient greek myths about the ages of man and how the current age is the weakest.

I think you'd have to go all the way back to prehistoric times, with nomadic peoples who were living the same way their ancestors lived for millennia. No, even they probably yearned for the times passed down in oral tradition, when giant beasts made of delicious meat roamed the earth and hunting was way easier.

walking distance makes me fucking tear my heart out and it's one of two episodes of any television to do that more than once, i can't even watch it these days

if rod serling was a cardboard cutout of a leftist he wouldn't have written 'the shelter'. it's basically directly counter to any sort of leftwing framing.
he had ideological blinders certainly but they didn't cover everything.

it annoys me to enjoy things where if the creator knew i existed and who i was, they would tell me to fuck off and not enjoy the things they've made

i don't enjoy many things anymore

Why do you think Liquid Death makes hundreds of millions of dollars?

They bought into the Nigger-Spic cycle when it was still the Union cycle.

my LITERAL boomer mother (74) refuses to eat food
like I try to urge her to eat more eggs, give her protein shakes - nothing, says "she can't"
bro you CAN
you CAN eat, you should, or you will fucking die because you weigh... 40 kilos or some shit
she then complains about her health while LITERALLY starving herself and looking like a mummy
oh well, these people are fucking stubborn as hell
she LITERALLY cannot believe that people can eat and work out and get bigger - like she thinks my brother, who's working out and eating, will "remain a stick" because that's "how the family is like" - and she was BAFFLED when I told her that people with muscles are not born that way - BRO YOU ARE CHRONICALLY MALNOURISHED, PROBABLY BECAUSE YOU WERE RAISED RIGHT AFTER THE FUCKING WAR AND NEVER LEARNED BETTER

What causes this, anyway? The "If you're [thing I don't like], don't buy my game/book/album/whatever?" If you're that political you'd think you're all about people 'across the aisle' consuming something you made- after all, that's the first step towards indoctrination into your own views instead of theirs, wink wink- but instead it's "fuck off I hate you" posturing. Maybe I'm schizo but it also always feels a little class/have-havenot based too, like they're going "I don't need your support, I'm already rich and popular from my own clan."

>dude racism bad
There's nothing else to get
Twilight Zone is only popular now and rightfully so for twist endings and more generalized human-condition ironies
We're 60 years removed from the Civil Rights act and no one who isn't already convinced on Multiculturalism (TM) will be convinced, the lines are more concrete now than ever, those episodes are unwatchable schlock, and not once did the jewboy from New York speak against his fellow rich kikes

>served in the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 11th Airborne Division.
>First battle was in the Philippines at Leyte
>transferred to the 511th's demolition platoon, nicknamed "The Death Squad" for its high casualty rate.
>Fought in the battle of Manila, i.e The Stalingrad of the East
>regiment had a 50% casualty rate, with over 400 men killed or wounded.
Not as bad as some of the units in the pacific, but shit, a tour like that is going to put years on you
>>
>>749441212
His squad mates spoke about him. He wasnt good at it (who would be?) and he struggled a lot in that environment. He had a very brutal tour at the worst job ever basically that he wasn't built for, it probably aged him 20 years.
