Why the fuck wouldn't they ship it with a local model, are they retarded

It would be a right shame if someone set up a macro to spam the demo with token requests.

It likely doesn't work on local models + most browns don't have a pc that can run a local model

>The game is also popular in Asia, where there isn’t such a stigma around generative AI, which people in the West tend to hate because it’s a theft engine that sucks up the planet’s energy like Shinra.
what the hell is going on at ign, they must be hiring "writers" off the street for 10 bucks an article

the scam is AI was only as powerful and fast enough with the more processors it has in the cloud achieved generative engine

none of these are local as it would take forever with private computers centers

If they only paid, say $50k to get viral marketing for the demo, are they really retarded? People are only going to play this shit for 2 hours and never touch it again and probably paid $10 for the full game when it releases.
>>
>>749456365
>none of these are local as it would take forever with private computers centers
Wrong.
"The developers announced that they are looking at two ways to keep the game afloat. The first would involve introducing a local AI model to handle the in-game conversations, either entirely or as a secondary tool, which would obviously eliminate the cost issue. The second option would be to introduce a pricing model that would account for AI usage. "

It wouldn't cost $360k a year because the price of AI models continue to go down each month.

The devs are just playing the waiting game.

You'd probably need a beefy graphics card with tons of VRAM to run a local model and a 3D video game at the same time. Running 8GB or even 16GB might see heavy chugging and frame rate drops depending on the model size. Min graphics requirements would skyrocket.
>>

>>749456840
Your brain is not functioning.
They only need an AI model to handle voices.

Chatgpt and Claude are overkill because they specialize in every field (i.e art, math, code, science etc).
>>
>>749456072
Who else but quagmire
>>
>>749455904
I tried this game but didn't get the appeal. You'd think that with an advanced reactive ai you'd be able to give super detailed instructions on the fly. But she can't do something as simple as "just turn the wheel very very slightly to the right" it has to be the same rotation every time
>>
>>749457040
the game demo is just a window between the player and an AI. the AI functions cost money. the demo is free

Retards in this thread think running this technology is expensive, but the N64 could do it nearly 30 years ago.

The developers went overkill using frontier AI models for a game.
>>
>>749455904
/b/rothers we should epic raid the demo and rack up millions of dollars in bills xD
>>
>>749455904
So instead of commissioning artists or lord forbid actually doing their own work, they'd rather dump the same amount of money into "creating" something with zero style or love put in.

Remember when AI was supposed to handle manual labor/entry level retail so people could invest themselves in the creative fields?

It does
>Speech to text (your voice)
>LLM response generation (the text of the sister's response)
>Dynamic action generation (what the sister does)
>Text to AI voice (what the sister says)
So it's got quite a bit going on there. Which is probably why they have it hooked up to multiple AI APIs.

Even if it was just AI voice generation, those models still need about 8-16GB of VRAM.
>>
>>749457334
>So instead of commissioning artists or lord forbid actually doing their own work
I seen enough artists that break down in the slightest, delete everything, then pretend that didn't happen, or virtue signal something while doing art of that thing. This is mostly western artists. They're all cancers.

Nigga there was speech to text video games on 4mb consoles. >>749457296

>Even if it was just AI voice generation, those models still need about 8-16GB of VRAM.

It could actually be done with 2GB of memory.

• STT (Whisper Tiny): ~150MB
• LLM (Qwen 0.8B): ~1,000MB
• TTS (Piper): ~300MB
• Total Baseline AI RAM: ~1.45 GB

With further optimization (it's a simple driving game) I bet 1GB is possible.
>>
>>749456840
You need tons of RAM too. Minimum 16gb vram card (5060 ti and above) with 64gb ram and 1TB sata ssd to store the model weights
>>
>>749457502
Wait so it's basically like a local agent hooked up to an API but instead of writing codes it... roleplays as an npc? (and controls the car while at it too)
Ya know, I think AIbros are having a massive case of Stockholm syndrome with AI.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.
There are many tricks they can employ because they're not running a scientifically accurate AI.

Also, it's a fucking video game.
It's the same logic with how they take high poly models and make the low poly ones look very close to it.
>>
>>749457771
You're expecting a modern developer to optimize their game to a razor's edge. Lmao.
>>

Those are important for young people to get some work experience, why would you want to replace them? Hell l’m starting a minimum wage job in the mornings at American Eagle just to get some extra cash on the side and AI automates all the annoying bits of my full time job.

>>

have you ever tried local?
it would be absovute nightmare to make sure it runs on every potatoes in addition to the game itself
>>
>>749455904
I'm a game dev that's been working on my own project for about 7 years, without AI. I could have probably done this with a TTS algorithm and a behaviour tree.

But that's the problem with GAI. Developers throwing shit at the wall and not understanding how anything works under the hood. This is not a success, this is a massive failure, because they will never make any money, and it will be forgotten next week.
>>
>>749458614

Not wanting to invest in their own PC is their damn fault.

Hell, Call of Duty uses AI and they make BILLIONS.

The customer is a retard from Kolkata. They could never afford video games in the first place.

This is my main complaint. How come the people pushing are retarded? You can learn most you need to know about AI even local in like 1-2 months yet every other time i see some AI stuff making the rounds its one prompt tier slop,

That's a lot of time relatively speaking. You could go through programming tutorials and be started making a game the old fashioned way in that amount of time.
>>
>>749459028
If the dev is crafty they could even add a scalable Ai, like how people set graphic settings. When the Ai is set to NONE, it would just be just fakish Ai that follows a behaviour tree ruleset instead

Incorrect.
You're forgetting that inflation and cost of living exist.
Every year making games [at triple AAA levels] gets more expensive.

So they have to either double profits or save money somewhere.
AI provides that solution.
