First of all, it's not decompiling, but anyway.

Not much is going to change. Maybe companies like Adobe and Microsoft will go cloud only exclusively, which is a problem for consumers.

I don't think anything is going to change when it comes to video games at a corporate level. We will get more piracy and mods, which is cool.

Upscaling and frame gen are 2 different things. Upscaling like DLSS takes a hardware rendered frame and modifies it with a higher res. Frame gen is what people refer to when they mean fake frames, because those frames are completely AI made with no hardware rendering to go off of, besides the previous and next frames. I honestly prefer DLSS to that shitty TAA that smears the entire screen and still has artifacts.

I have a 5090 now and I got a 4090 at launch and I've tooled around with Frame Gen for far the entire time it's been available and to come to the conclusion that: it sucks. It's a midwit trap.

You need a base framerate of about 80 for the game to "feel" good after FG. And that goes for everything, shooters, online, offline. You could get away with less if you're playing 4 niggas in a row, but those games usually run at hundreds of fps already. You need that high frame rate because FG doesn't actually double the base frame rate. Turing it on gets you a GPU penalty. It's more like 1.8-3.2 X FG, not 2-4 X like people pretend.

Even if the game "feels" good in a test scene, the dips with FG on are actually LOWER than without. When I look at a fps trace of a game, without FG runs 70-90 fps with the deepest dips into 60. With FG on, it runs 140-170. Great! But then the deepest dips are down into 90. That's with FG on, so the actual game is running at 45 fps in those intense moments, when you actually need the frames. I's rather the game run 90 fps when smooth and 60 when I have to make quick decisions, than 170 smooth and then crash out to 45 actionable frames.

And FG does have artifacts. D4 with FG used to have plant models flicker back and forth when FG was on, like the AI couldn't figure out the z-culling. That's insane, because D4 is isometric with a fixed camera.

Most games won't allow you to use FG without DLSS, so it's hard to tease out from where artifacts come. D4 is an exception, but the practical impact is that anyone wanting to use FG has to watch the DLSS smearing as well.

I used FG pretty successfully in Cyberpunk and Bloodlines 2. That's 2 games out of around 50 that I've tried it in.

The point I was making is that with servers it is possible to mitigate the issues, while with local it is not. This is the copyright clause in the US. Every part of this is being ignored because the Supreme Court isn't acting as a check on congress expanding copyright law. They have granted retroactive extensions with undefined durations, they have protected things that aren't writings or discoveries and none of this is being done with any motive related to promoting science or useful arts.

Anyone can publish anything, anywhere on the globe via the internet. Laws are only being enforced selectively if at all. If a company like Steam actually followed copyright law, then they would need to allow EU citizens to resell used digital games. Nintendo managed to sue an unemployed man for copyright infringement and it does nothing. Denuvo is attempting a manhunt on some random guy. It is genuinely impossible to actually make use of something in the public domain if it's not globally in the public domain, because you can just get sued in the country where it is still protected.
Copyright law is a bloated, overly bureaucratic law that is only useful for companies looking to bleed one another dry.
