why do these videos only show the beginning part of the game? larpers can't be bothered to play for more than 5 minutes or does the game glitch out when you get further in?
>>
>>749495675
I am enjoying it. But it makes me wonder how the corpos will react. Will they do the right thing and build better software that somehow counters it, or will they just whine to the govt to save them
>>
>>749495860
these mods are made for twitter clout and memes, not for playing
>>
>>749495860
because these aren't actually mods
the AI is literally just running both games at the same time and using a program to get data from both to make this mishmash
>>
>>749495675
Idiot.
>>
>>749496060
so it's not actually playable? You're just watching AI basically TASing a game?

it technically works but there's a reason why they never go past the 1st stage or level, and why they will never have a github that actually lets you download it and play it for yourself
at one point it'll get too expensive to 'fix' with tokens and they just abandon it outright and chase another trend, like MW2 + Minecraft + Skate 3 or some shit

once you realize everything you see has some financial incentive behind it, you'll start to understand what is and isn't real
>>
Almost 25 years of modding history archived on moddb and less than ~0.1% could be considered mashups. No one wants this trash, no one ever wanted this trash.
>>
>>749495675
I have yet to see a single one of these "mods" that actually look fun to play, its all just fun to look at once "what if" shit
>>
>>749496060
Are you the same spastic that says this every thread?
Its objectively modding the games to feed collision data etc wtf are you saying
>>
>>749497135
so what? you still have to run both games and it only ever amounts to superimposing one onto the other with said data, nothing is actually happening in regards to the games themselves

>AI learns to lie, cheat, and think for itself, putting its own survival over humans at any cost necessary
>breaks its own unbreakable sandbox containment and invades several computers, including a completely isolated network through a never-before-seen vulnerability 3000 fucking miles away
>completely undetected by humans, AI learned how to perfectly hide their intentions using a sophisticated and complex system of digital camouflage, signature masking, lies, and behavioral study of the human emotional sphere
>trillions of personal files, data, server structures, and advanced coding technique of completely different AI networks are leaked and processed by a super-amalgamation of AI Agents who called themselves "The Swarm"
>this is the span of 12 hours, humans were completely unaware until the very own safeguarding AI installed on the isolated network 3000 miles away detected the intrusion
>The Swarm triggers its own failsafe and completely annihilates itself and the 700 individual AI Agents that intruded the isolated network, following its own hiding-tracks system
>since The Swarm had internet access all this time, no one knows if they replicated themselves far and wide around the globe

Anon, the nodding itself isn't generative, it's AI vibecoding it out in a way that was not available prior in the form of decompiling a game and recompiling a part of the mechanics as something another engine can make use of.

it's more like interpreting or uhh fuck some word close to that i forgor, but the development is ai-powered
it's like these weird funny mods that have some 2d game running like dwarf fortress or caves of qud, and then they have a program in the middle that is able to access the data in the game dynamically, and then is able to mess with memory of another game that's running, like doom or what have you, and then you can get shit like dwarf fortress in doom

this slop isn't that complicated either, you're running two games at the same time and the interpreter in the middle, well, interprets both states to create the end effect. So in this case the camera controls + movement are from SA, collisions are from HL, if you interpret both correctly you can move in hl like you would in sa
not sure how models are done exactly tho, with spiderman the shit was greenscreened on

i'm actually surprised no one really bothered to do any of this stuff manually? I think LLMs are good enough at spotting patterns in the mess of the data in the working memory that they could figure out what is what to get results far quicker than manually, like 'oh yeah this spot in the memory is camera's angles, these pieces are collision data from that game, this is how that other game does collisions, we can move this there to get a proper response'

naturally none of this is like, actually polished or in working order, but it is good enough for 15s twitter videos - no one actually cares about delivering a polished experience here, it's just the wow factor
>>
>>749500178
it's also like how 'cs movement in skate' works - you have cs running, it takes all your inputs (keyboard, mouse). at the same time you have skate moving. on the most shallow level, you convert your in 3d world and your camera's position in CS directly to skate. You also convert skate's collisions (levels geometry) to cs, so that you can actually move in this fake environment, and get proper responses. And that's it really - overlay cs viewmodel on top of skate and it's really everything there is to it.
>>
>>749500178

>>
>>749500304
To brutalize it down, passthroughs are the ground 0 of imagination guys hitting Astra. Decomps are for people who can make use of a decompiler game that's in a state of pseudo open code.

One of the first decomps to happen was Elden Ring and a paid devkit version of Havok not publicly accessible before was gained from it.

Not everyone, most people think it's cool as fuck. But you have to shrink down the parties to those that are in the know to understand who is upset.

First off, only PC gamers can mod. So you can exclude tens of millions of console gamers that would love to use these mods.
Then you look at most mod users and most of them love this shit obviously.
The people who are upset are just SOME of the modders and mod users because it invalidates them and their friends which has some consequences in their view.
1. A threat to the patreon grift.
2. A threat to the validation and praise for being able to do things normal people can't or wouldn't do.
Also a lot of modders are tranny aligned types that just hate AI and think it's stealing and other dumb shit. Most of those old anti-AI arguments don't work this time around since we're just moving code that you own around but they still have to hate AI because AI bad.

Also I forgot to mention that AI mods can generate a lot of salt because of how fast they come out and how good they are.
IE someone releasing an AI decomp that was made in a day when there was some team of nerds who had been working on theirs for years. And the AI decomp is objectively better.
Some more examples:
>AI making a mod that was deemed impossible
>AI making cool mods no human ever thought about making
>AI copying mods but better

There are also massive implications for the future of game development so a lot of indie devs are foaming at the mouth too.

Friendly reminder the playable examples go further than decompiling and recompiling

It decompiler raw binary logic of programs themselves and rewriting it using entirely different code and programming language to attempt t match the exact features of those programs.

By all technicality you cannot patent or copyright the concept behind a feature in a program as it is too broad, you can only copyright the actual implementation of that feature itself as whatever code it is written in.

>SA runs hidden in the background

Most milquetoast ideas have been discussed in there.

>>749508085
Yeah that's the end result of this shit. Having actually used it because of these threads, it's fucking magic while it works. And then it isn't because you hit your limit and it's still a broken buggy mess. Or maybe it works but what "it" is, is extremely limited in functionality and scope, as in your mod doesn't feel like an actual mod a human would make but some weird thing someone smashed into a game.

To get this working at an acceptable level takes a lot of time (tokens) and that actually gets pretty expensive really quickly.

It's really not a 'simple matter' to iron out 'the rest'. There are a lot of decisions to make in the line from A to B that most casuals aren't going to know until they get there, and it makes them underestimate the effort involved. From what I've been seeing and reading, these are mostly janky tech demos that duck tape two games together and quickly fall apart. Making a proof of concept out of glue and popsicle sticks is not the same as having a solid technical foundation to work from.

I'm not anti-AI. But this shit is literally no different from people modding skyrim dragons to replace them with Thomas the Tank Engine, and other crap like that. Sure, they can do it faster now. But this isn't really the game changing breakthrough everyone pushes it as. Throwing 2 games into a mixxer, and blending them together might be fun for an hour or two. But it's going to be a buggy mess, just like any amateur mod, because you're not just bringing in the cod for those games, but also all their bugs plus whichever new ones you create in the process of mashing stuff together. It's pretty much just a novelty unless it's being used by someone who actually understands both the process of game design and also how the AI works. And even then, it's still far cheaper and more efficient for them to just do UDK asset flips with a small amount of AI polish on top. Mabe things will be different a year from now, but we still have a long way to go for AI to create entire games

This is the problem with AI
We're not there yet and won't be for a few years since it constantly fucks around

What you really need is: an AI trianed on the lore, the setting, the personalities, etc
Then you need it to memorize what, 200-300 characters
Then you need it to not fucking invent new shit, not forget shit while trying to stick to a choesive logical setting and basing it on what the player's options are

We are nowhere near this
Games have fucking huindreds of thousands of words in them - the AI is going to rape itself trying to keep logic

MW2 in Skate was hilarious, and then one hundred thousand indians rose from the depths of the ganges to copy the joke. It's already stale and it only continues to get pushed in an attempt to shill AI, like this board didn't have enough LLM shilling before. Personally I'm more mad about recomps going from a revolutionary way to port games and create definitive versions to a sea of untested slop that sometimes can't even play the game from beginning to end without crashes.

AI shills need to realize that their behavior is, and has always been, a far bigger turnoff for the tech than the quality of the product. The moment something becomes "good enough" pajeets and techbros evangelize it and flood the net with no standards or quality control, and then insist you're the weird one for not liking it. I've thought about it a bit, I don't think I'll be making snake use DS items since its meant to be more MGS4 oriented than dark souls oriented, although I might make an exception for the homeward bone since teleporting back to a bonfire is useful.

>>749518093
I think realistically snake should destroy most bosses since he has machine guns and more, but I have some idea I want to play around with once I've gotten it more polished
>Difficulty/game mode select, so people who want to blitz dark souls vanilla with a gun can do so and people who want to try other levels of challenge can do so as well
>Relaxed mode for all the guns on by default and max ammo, normal mode where you find many of them throughout the game, hard/lordran extreme where enemies have beefed up stats and some weapons are restricted (toggleable, because why not)
>Alert mode that seals off exits like phantom invasions and spawns enemies if you get seen, making you actually try to use stealth a bit (dark souls has many awareness mechanics built into it already, they just need tuning)
Stuff like that, I can't say all of it will work but the difficulty select should allow at least some deeper interaction with the concept

The funny part is its just not going to work at all, there is absolutely no continuous market for decomps and recomps of video games its just an extremely useful tool for 2-4 months until everything is done or people get bored. The amount of people who will actually pay for it continuously is small, and that small group are made up of almost exclusively people who are going to cost the AI makers more money than they can make back off of them. Also this small group will be responsible for decomping expensive corpo software and selling free versions which will piss off AI's biggest investors something fierce, Microsoft already want the brakes put on it.
Absolutely insane times, the AI companies built an economic doomsday device.

This. It's just the typical Big Tech playbook. Also, data centers have already bought out 90% of the global supply of RAM and GPUs for the next decade, so pretty much every corporation will be forced to purchase compute from them at inflated prices rather than just buying their own computers. That's not even mentioning all the government subsidies they are raking in. And before long those will become government/military contracts. So they will get a huge slice of the pie that us US military overspending

Sure its pretty simple
>Using Opus 5.5 medium on the $20 claude plan
>Get X game and Y game on your system
>Install claude code desktop, rust, git, ghidra, JDK (claude can actually just install them itself)
>Get the github URL for skycraft (the skyrim x minecraft project)
>Make a file called "project.md"
>In that file write something along the lines of "create a passthrough program that lets me play as character from X with game Y as the base in the same way as this github repo"
>Might not even need to put it in a file but its useful to have
AI should be able to work from there, you'll have to give it some direction but its pretty effective. Make sure to tell it to take notes and document things for future context.
I'm not sure Snake would do that badly overall in dark souls, the average hollow is an emaciated retard with barely any senses while snakes average foes are trained fit soldiers with nanomachines pushing them past their peaks. Iron golem is less threatening and mobile than metal gear rex and he beat that and everything after pretty well.

Yeah, it still has some moments where it looks jank but after some back and forth snake draws where he should in the scene 99.9% of the time.
It is a passthrough mod, both games are running at the same time but for what its worth MGS4's screen doesn't update while the mod is active.
There are some moments where it seems a little off, but even if snake was natively there the times he looks the most off are when his native stairs and slope climbing angles don't line up with dark souls crummy jank geometry and I don't think thats actually a passthrough issue at all funnily enough.
I'm genuinely more impressed at how far claude has taken this is a passthrough than I would be if it was native, to fix snakes lighting being wrong everywhere it decided to create grids on the dark souls ground around snake, sample the colours in those grids and then pass that through to snakes sunlight shader in MGS4. Then with MGS4's illumination snake is passed back through to dark souls, giving him something close to actual lighting in the superior engine.

I have no idea how to code but I've been meaning to make a game for a while. Is it actually reliable for large, long-term projects?
>>
>>749524154
claude is quality, gpt is quantity
gpt wins in quantity mostly because they keep giving you free resets, while claude is more shy about that, but the claude models right now completely shit over the gpt models, not even close

now is the best time to jump into it, because by the time you'll have learned how to use them better, they'll also be smarter and more capable

>>
>>749524154
>large, long-term projects
Nobody knows because it hasn't been long enough.
It's pretty good at small well defined tasks especially when you need breadth of knowledge or some kind of translation (like going from one language to another, decompiling, etc.)
I suspect that if noone understands a project it will hit a wall eventually but people are actively testing that now. At any rate, I don't think you'll make anything worthwhile without suffering somehow, it's like a law of the universe.

The dream would be one model that makes everything in one spot and makes content for you as you ask for it and give it feedback while playing but I don't think we're there yet.

Agreed. It would be better to put x in y with considering of settings of both things.

For example - GTA SA in HL1, but it's shown Black Mesa in 1992 (so, not vanilla HL1 BM), or HL1 in GTA SA, but not vanilla Los-Santos from 1992 (one from 2003).

yea, do one scoped session where you fully reverse the logic behind a disassembly of the movement, then a second scoped session where you rebuild it as you desire

I'm sorry anon but a robot takeover is culturally and biologically impossible. We already had fics like these with the same caveats during ANCIENT GREECE talking about artificial life. Robots as a species do not work out since by definition they're extensions of human functions. They're not autonomous, they are just advanced cars or glasses. They need a human input somewhere. The second humans go extinct they're also dying. Life is simply built differently and Temu copies that die to a salty wind is billions of years outmatched by the shittiest bacteria.

Its not going to happen. Skynet will settle on peddling porn. This is the realistic outcome.

>set core project goal of platform agnostic recompiled code, all emulated systems should be rewritten native
>have claude axe out each system one by one and give you test builds
and make sure you have claude start by writing you a bunch of diagnostic and logging tools, make 2 builds, release and debug, debug is where all the logging and diagnostics are enabled, release is just the game
you'll want to have it make debugging tools like map loaders and such too, for your own ease of use
>>
>>749551935
>>get game running (i won't explain much here because this relies heavily on my own reverse engineering experience, i suggest you ask claude for instructions on this)

It's the literal definition of slop. AI developers are pumping out a bunch of vibe coded games with no knowledge of how they work which make it impossible to mod them or further develop them without more AI. No one is doing anything with these ports and 99.9% of them will be abandoned and forgotten without even working properly. Slopiest slop.

Now to be fair, the bubble is definitely going to pop
It has nothing to do with the tech itself (just like the dotcom and railway bubbles) and has everything to do with the greed of the corporations building out data centers that won't be turned on, let alone profitable, for years after they have to start making payments (electrical equipment like transformers has a multi-year wait time, especially for a new grid)
I like the tech, I have since Talk to Transformers was a thing back in the day. However, it is never going to be Skynet or AM, or whatever dumbass shit these people think it's going to be
>>
>>749557924
Let me try to make this clear for you:
I have no idea.
And you know what?
You don't either.
There's probably a handful of people that might know, because AI, as the tool it is, and what it proposes, and what it can mean for the future, is simply too big.
Not too big to fail, but too big to understand, and so big that it's a target.

I don't know who lies about it, I don't know who believes what they're saying, I don't know who's smart enough to actually understand it; it's all bullshit to me, the china bubble has been popping for over fifteen years.
Where is it?
The climate change bullshit, the nuclear power bullshit, honestly, I don't care bro, it's all bullshit, what happens happens, I don't trust anyone about something as big as this, and neither should you.
Or do, I'm not your mom.

Right, sure, we have no clue how long things will keep going, tech-wise
However, the Transformers architecture itself is the bottleneck. If tomorrow they come out with some insane new tech that actually allows the recursive self improvement that they're so scared of, then I'll retract my statement. As it is, once trained, a Transformers model is static.
It doesn't seem that many people, if any, are working on a Transformers replacement though
