Gust seems to suck at balancing games unless they're iterating on a formula they've used a bunch of times before, so while both Blue Reflection games have good base mechanics, the difficulty is low enough that there's not much incentive to really engage with them (barring the highest unlockable difficulty in Second Light.)BR1 is more unique and ambitious in terms of the mechanics, character-driven narrative, and general structure, and I actually like it more than Second Light, but it's harder to recommend due to its slow pacing and somewhat repetitive structure. Second Light is a more well-rounded game that doesn't quite manage to reach BR1's high points, but also lacks any notable flaws outside of the balance issues.
