It could be worse. In the older patches nothing under the pyramid was implemented yet so the underground desert was just a slightly bigger snowy chasm that was just as empty but with slightly tougher enemies

i love this game, but i have a few complaints about it
i absolutely hate how items can randomly shift by a pixel when loading an area back into memory. one of the core things i've had to learn by experience is how and where to store potions so they don't randomly break.
relatedly, in my latest game, a pouch i stored somewhere randomly burst, and then i lost my kuulokivi (and a tablet) when they rolled away, both for no fucking reason
i have no idea why these bugs haven't been fixed yet

nearly got vaporzied by a stupid mook offscreen when an undiscovered nuke wand deleted an entire map block early in my run before having the health to withstand the explosion. fortunately i was just outside the blast radius

The thing about Noita is that there always a hundred different things you can do to improve. If you get just a little bit better at wand building, a little bit better at dodging, a little bit better at using terrain, and so forth, it can add up to a huge difference in your performance. Whenever you die try to figure out a way to prevent it from happening next time. Don't be too greedy, when your health gets low go to the next holy mountain. It's usually a good idea to move on around 40% HP.

by paging in and out parts of the save file like any other game or program that has to chunk the environment
the map is broken up into blocks on a regular grid. it's not that hard to hash by (x,y) and grow saves as new blocks are accessed.
as far as i can tell, the game only updates a 3x3 or 5x5 blocks at a time, save for some special interactions (i think worms can affect the map farther away, but only up to a certain distance, even if their logic is run beyond that; you sometimes find worm tunnels that end on block boundaries)

Almost certainly, yeah. The reward after solving the cauldron puzzle, which I think was the last part of the game to be solved, is this text:
SEEKING TRUTH, THE WISE FIND INSTEAD ITS PROFOUND ABSENCE
I suspect the eyes were probably a hint at the cauldron puzzle that never got figured out.
