What are yours? I went to Galloping Ghost Arcade yesterday with some buds for my birthday and played a fuckton of creepy themed games to celebrate Spooky Month.
topsters.org for this format.

Did a mostly-blind first playthrough of SotN. Because it was mostly blind I didn't get the inverted castle but getting the bad ending was a very fun 5-6 hours even if bosses became a joke once I had a decent weapon and knew what my motion inputs were. My favorite part outside of the music was genuinely seeing the direct translations of Rondo's level design into the map.

Nice. I've got some good memories with HotD4 and AvP on cabs. They didn't have Scarlet Dawn with all those other HotDs there?
>>749521301
I kinda bounced off of Dark Ages despite really liking 2016 & Eternal, just didn't click.

You should go for the real endings.

Oddly enough, no.

Playing SotN for the first time as my first metroidvania and I'll be honest I'm disappointed and getting tilted with it kicking me to the main menu every death and not having a easy way to heal when I need too

>dying in SotN
I'll give you the first 2 or 3 boss fights, but: Really? The game is one of the easiest in the entire series, if not THE easiest.
>>
>>749522653
Save points heal you for free every time and you can find potions and meat enough early on to carry you until you get to the shop and get Dark Metamorphosis. Legit just save before and after every boss and every time you pass one until you're too strong for it to matter.

that's the issue i'm not having a hard time with the bosses it's more just general chaff slowly wearing me down and then i kinda get into the mindset of entering a boss fight hurt and already thinking im going to have to reload and get back here all over again, it's just really fucking annoying and time wasting to do the whole game over, main menu etc.
I don't even think i'm that far in but i entered the underground caverns last time i played but haven't played since

just fucked around with slopcomps today, finally played PT, it sucked, insane how overhyped it became when it's just a cliche walking sim

>>749520964
nice Halloween themed lineup, wish I had that kind of arcade, tried emulating HOTD and RE Survivor with mouse but it's not the same

so what's your favorite from the megastructure parking/climbing subgenre?

why L4D1?

SOTN was such a letdown for me after RoB (GOAT), amazing music and style but game design is such a joke, I also need to revisit it for the inverted castle, had more fun with Circle Of The Moon or non-Castlevania ripoffs it inspired
>>
>>749523172
Every major boss has a save point 1-2 rooms away and by the time you're halfway into the normal castle you can tank hits and just smash most of them easily. If it's that big of an issue look up the health-ups on a map.

I think my opinion of SotN is tempered by playing it right after a couple Rondo playthroughs yeah. Rondo has just enough going on mechanically and in terms of secrets/branches while being challenging and still having a semblance of destroying bosses if you stockpile Hearts for Item Crashes (which still requires keeping a Life going long enough). SotN feels great to play but once you get over that underpowered early hump I didn't really find 95% of what was put in front of me engaging; it's either easy or annoying outside of a handful of bosses and rooms. I'll probably play Aria & Portait since those seem like the most interesting of the handheld trilogies.
>>
>>749523084
I know about the save points but with the enemies just respawning it's kinda pointless feeling to make a run back depending on how far i've gotten i might as well just try my luck and reload but i had no idea there was a healing spell thank you.
>>749523475
That's the problem man i end up dying to the normal enemies the bosses haven't been an issue i think it's just the blind exploration the chaff eventually wears me down if I'm being impatient etc.
>>749523420
I was planning on skipping the classic castlevanias so my cope is that Circle of the Moon and those games going forward will feel better but i do keep seeing the love for RoB i might have to give it a try at least

>I'll probably play Aria & Portait since those seem like the most interesting of the handheld trilogies.
Both of those are better than SotN in my opinion.
AoS is short and to-the-point with no inverted castle BS. SotN is a bit of a gimmicky mess design-wise, AoS's toolset and control mappings are much more sensible. It's a Zero Mission situation where the lower button count actually forced them to refine the control scheme. SotN's wacky enemy drops were admittedly fun, and I think the devs picked up on that which is why AoS has that the central mechanic of the game. Not only do all enemies drop a unique ability but the drop rates are much higher and you're expected to get a bunch of abilities without any grinding. Meanwhile the built-in randomness and short length add tons of replay value and there's NG+ if you want to go for 100% and still keep having fun. AoS tries to do similar things to SotN but it's safe to say it's a much better designed game.
PoR goes back to being gimmicky, probably even more so than SotN (along with an inverted castle equivalent), but the AI companion makes it so consistently fun that I can't complain about it too much. It has a bunch of rooms where the devs just spammed enemies and let you go to town. That game brought a smile to my face, but I will say I haven't played it in a while, so I don't know if it holds up.

Hate that shit.

>the bosses haven't been an issue i think it's just the blind exploration the chaff eventually wears me down if I'm being impatient etc.
The issue might be that SotN only shows your current HP as a straight number, compounded by the fact that your max HP changes as you level up. You assume enemies are balanced around your current level but it's hard to tell how much damage you're actually receiving in a practical sense. Regular enemies can deal a wide range of damage so it can catch you off guard. With a standard health bar, this type of thing is much easier to track.

>>749523791
>I was planning on skipping the classic castlevanias
Don't do that. Classicvania is great and on top of that a decent amount of stuff in some Igavanias might be lost on you if you don't at least play 1, 3 & Rondo.
>is that Circle of the Moon
Circle is from the team that made Castlevania 64 trying to do SotN on brand new GBA hardware without a blueprint. Igarashi is back starting from Harmony.
>>
>>749527693
Igarashi ruined the series

Stasis - You use a cursor instead of moving around the character with a thumbstick, for no reason. It's not good.
nuModern Warfare - Got to where you use drones and turned it off in disgust. The mission before that made me hate it. I was right to turn it off when it was middle east before that. It's jewish, it's propaganda, and it's simply a bad game. The first mission was good though. All praise for it is bullshit from assholes. It's the worst non blops i've played of COD.
Cyberpunk + Had a save before I took the cyberware hand tattoo (don't take the cyberware hand tattoo) so did some side missions. Ok.
Marathon + A couple of months or more or much more ago, was good, but got stuck on contracts, only saw perimiter, didn't know how to change levels, only did solo, had a delay for starting runs a couple of times that lasted several minutes and one that failed to start. Need to just go straight in, other players are a bad thing to encounter, especially playing with a controller, it's a good run not meeting any. Bots are hard enough, and if you meet people you use bots (unsc) to effectively add to your own personal army, and increase your chances, fighting when bots have worn them down.
Rage 2 + Pretty good, looks better playing on remote play from ps4pro to ps5, like uses nearest neighbor scaling, up from 540p 30fps (picture is better 30fps too. Yes my connection is shit. Console to console LAN is better than pxplay or remote play to phone, there is hardly a difference console to console but still need wifi for some reason, shouldn't).
FFVIIR - Shit.
FFXVI - Looks good, uses face buttons for combat so kind of sucks. Makes it so you use them instead of moving around dodging. So just tank and heal instead of moving. And Clive looks like shit.
Far: Lone Sails + Nice little puzzle game, easy enough you can figure it out and keep travelling. Didn't finish it but probably worked out all the puzzles. Or not. Kids game.
COD: Infinite Warfare +++++ Fuck year.
Returnal ++++++++
