I legit can't stand it, it will ruin a game for me. Despite it being more "realistic" it makes me feel like I'm disconnected from my character. With more snappy "arcade" style movement, my inputs instantly translate to my character doing something and it makes me feel connected to what's happening on screen. It seems like modern games are biased towards weighty movement. At least Fromsoft had the balls to give Elden Ring snappy movement, I have issues with that game don't get me wrong (I'm no Elden Ring glazer) but the game feel was not one of them, that was an A+.
>>749526547Retarded normies do.
>>749526547Any healthy young man can jog backwards and strafe, quickly juke or two-step, and swing a sword in much less than two seconds. To say less of a very athletic if not downright superhuman warrior. You don't need to be jackie chan to move your body as fast as you can react.Characters in "realistic" games trundling around like a slovenly goateyed fatass who can't jog 20 seconds without retching out their diaphram and need a business week to accelerate up to a run are retarded.
>>749527403Yeah just look at basketball players, they do some crazy fast movements and pivots. A character fighting dragons and other crazy giant monsters should be at least as athletic as that.
>>749526547DD2 isn't weighty enough. It feels like your guy is on rollerskates at times. I prefer the feel of movement and combat when having your Greatsword out in old MH games.
>>749528445now i wanna see basketball with the players in 40lbs of armor and another 50lb pack of gear on their backs.
>>749530084The backpack is just an abstraction for the squire they don't make you manage
>>749530084I mean look at Dragon's Dogma 2, it has a system that simulates that pretty well, and even then you don't move that fast even when you're naked can carrying nothing.
No, the inescapable enemy grab into flopping all around and smashing into a wall and falling down for 20 seconds before getting two attacks off and then being stunned again is not fun at all and is easily the worst part of this fucking game. And then to make it even worse, they nerfed Warrior's speed in everything compared to the first game so this happens all the fucking time. Don't know what japanese meth they were smoking when they made that decision but its horrible and that's why I think the first game rapes this game to death.
>>749526547tranny thread
DD2 movement sucks ass. it's like moving through fucking SLUDGE at all times
>>749526547 its the main reason why i fucking hate this game.>>749527403i am middle aged,250 pounds and can still move faster and for longer than the characters in this game.
>>749526547I like it, it looks great and feels great. I treat games not just as a process but as a moving picture too so leg placement thats semi-realistic is a plus and feels immersive that way. Plus the game is so easy it's barely an issue imo, im dark souls this would probably become a problem. But yeah this and Rockstar games, Crimson Desert too - love that shit.
>>749526547I love spamming explosive arrows not
>>749532443It's pretty funny to stunlock death with them in the first game.
>>7495284451. They dont wear armor. 2. They cry like witches the second someone pushes them over.
>>749534712>Consume four Conqueror Periapt >Equip explosive arrows >Spam Fivefold Flurry >Daimon Stunlocked>Dead in 8 seconds Dd2 just can't compete
We need a nodwick pawn archtype. Just a jerk who you throw all your stuff on so you can be as light as possible.
>>749526547I've been complaining about this shit in modern games for years. The most faggy part is that every game that markets itself as having REALISTIC PHYSICS™ actually end up having physics that's 50% slower than reality. If you speed up the physics with RE Framework it feels closer to reality, but the game was never designed to run that way, so it feels off.Basically modern games are INTENTIONALLY made to run in slow motion, probably because testers (retards) get overwhelmed otherwise.
>>749526547>>749535618There was a really good video on YouTube someone posted comparing how long to took to turn around in new games vs old games, but I could never find it again. Should have made a webm.
>>749526547I enjoy it on a controller. I have a pretty good sense of how to move around without looking stupid. It's all about the finer stick movements. So as always, at the end of the day it's a skill issue.
>>749526547dodgeless combat lends itself to lower enemy speed. look at the kingsfields.
so in this game all classes suck besides magic archer right ?
>>749535923>dodgeless combat lends itself to lower enemy speedOnly in modern games. Then again, even games with dodge mechanics are slower now.
>>749527403>>749532262Lol you guys have never lifted your fatasses and walk more than a mile or two let alone done any kind of sports. You’re the kind of person who says they could take a chimp one on one. Completely detached from reality.
>>749536175Can you post counter examples of older games? I'd like to try them.
Just got absolutely destroyed by the minotaur at the end of one of trialsThat fucker easily kills my pawns then charges across the entire arena and rapes me to deathThe rest of the place was a walk in the park
It makes sense in some very specific kind of game but it kinda sucks in most action games.DD2's main problem isn't really the slow speed imo but the input delay, I'm fine with slower movement speed but DD2 tries to do what MH does by delaying your inputs to give a more weighty feedback, thing is everything has that input delay and it feels like ass, it would be fine if some specific action had it rather than every single fucking thing.
Not at all.One of the things I hate the most is delaying turning around. I don't care it's realistic. I'd rather a character not take 3 fucking seconds to turn around.
>>749526547I hate "weighty" movement the likes of which you see in a bunch of recent western games that are trying heavy kinematics and blended animation states that result in what feels like a half-second input delay and inaccurate directional movement.DD2's movement is not that. Movement has some heft to it when it comes to sprinting and the recovery on heavy attacks, but inputs are perfectly responsive and your character can turn on a dime without being forced to slowly turn around. It's the only game I know of that has captured enjoyable physics based movement, and properly played into them with its combat mechanics. The intermediate stagger states and contextual attacks are really important, and make it a departure from DD1 where you just spammed skills to shit out damage. You can take advantage of an enemy simply because their feet aren't firmly planted on the ground. It's more nuanced than shit like coded counter-hit states. The minor stumbles and flinching affect the stagger values and damage multipliers, and make it easier to knock them off-balance so you can perform a successive attack more frequently. It has more emphasis on keeping up an offensive that isn't simply hitting them and isn't visibly displayed on a UI like some other games' "stagger/poise" meter. In DD1, spamming skills was all that mattered. In DD2, melee weapons' basic attacks and core skills are some of their strongest moves because they are tuned towards inflicting those minor stagger states on enemies depending on where and how you hit them.I don't even bother with weapon skills most of the time any more, my skill slots are full of utility/support spells, I only need plain positioning tactics while alternating between all the melee weapons + longbow on Warfarer.
>>749536839Dragon's Dogma
>>749536839Literally the games this thread is about, you fucking retard.
>>749536839red dead, zelda, resident evil, gta, witcher, god of war, tomb raider ectyou should try them :)
>>749540108>>749536175follow the chain.RE, gta, RDR don't have faster combat and both tomb raider and gow have a dodge
>>749540208>Older RE, gta, RDR games don't have faster combatOh boy
>>749526547I hate how this game has MHW terrain jankiness turned up to eleven, slopes and elevations are fucking nightmare, auto climb screwed me more than helped me. Otherwise I don't really mind the slow and clunkiness of the combat. Tho DD1 is still the superior game.
>>749526547DD2 was made exclusively for low iq subhuman
Mystic Spearhand's DLC skill is so fucking underwhelming holy shit, what the fuck were they thinking??
>>749526547Weighty movement can be good if it translates to being part of the challenge, like say if you actually have to build momentum to make a jump and that's part of the game's execution requirement. If your character is just slow and has to wobble around and can't turn on a dime because le cinnamonatical realizms it's just awful and makes you feel like you're puppeteering a senior citizen.
why are you tranny nigger faggots seething this hard at game supposedly no one cares about according to you mentally ill mind shattered and buck broken faggots? why does every single DD2 thread since its release reaches bump limit since day one of its release if supposedly its such a bad game? I think you lost and blast bros actually won, bigly.
blastchads won
>>749535618Now post using levitate to break your fall in both games :)
>>749541591>>749541939What did they win?
>>749543094a massive expansion to one of their favorite games. it was released on friday were you not paying attention?
>>749543161No, I haven't heard about it. What are the new vocations?
>>749528445You mean the game where they EXPLICITLY try to barely maintain their balance to try to move as fast as possible because its in their advantage if someone knocks them over? The same game where they don't use their arms at all to make any motion and never need to commit their legs to any motion at all to put power into something? The game where they try to be as light as possible?Yeah that is DEFINITELY like planting your feet so you have stable footing and putting your entire body into a swing.
>>749543209They added back mystic knight as magick knight.Got assassin back as a thief archer hybrid arisen only vocationAnd shadowblade as another hybrid vocation
>>749543507Oh shit, I loved mystic knight. I'll have to check it out. Is shadowblade like a magic thief?
>>749526547>Fromsoft being described as having snappy movementI get what OP is trying to say, but this is proof that action game fags are full of shit.Souls games are INFAMOUS for animation priority and having to commit to swings, it was the entire discourse around the games when they were new.Now they are an established subgenre and so audience expectations have shifted to accept them as "snappy," which is outed as a completely arbitrary term.
>>749526547Depends on the game. I don't like how DD2 controls compared to the original.
The updates made the game feel better to play but it still worse than DD1
>>749526547NoTried to give DD2 a second chance but I forgot how bad the movement felt compared to DD1Apparently there used to be a mod that restored DD1 style movement but it's been nuked from the web
>>749543595Anon is lying
>>749543209Bullshit, you've been seething about it f9r a week now
>>749526547I got that feeling with RDR2. DD2 feels great to me on the other hand, it's not so bad if you've ever played Monster Hunter. Capcom's weighty movement feels more purposed to capturing a sense of heft and power, while RDR2 is just slow and sluggish because they focused on making the animations as lifelike as possible.
>interminable corridor>struggle with slimes>struggle with lich>the fucking dullahan just beheads the whole party in 0.1 seconds
I never noticed the movement in DD2 being slow or weighty, if you want to feel like you're controlling a character through 12 layers of input lag then try Killzone 2, or RDR2 if you want to experience your character being covered in honey the whole game.
>>749550105Have you tried not sucking at the game?
i just had my first encounter with the undead dragon.is there slutty costumes in the DLC?the armors and winter clothes so far are cool and all that, but i really want some skimpy outfits for my pawn.
>>749535618REmake4 and DD2 went completely overboard with the inertia for some reason, it's weird because other RE engine games feel fine.
>>749550614Wait for DD3 when we go to a tropical setting.
is hard mode a good idea for a first playthrough or does the bonus xp breaks the balance too much?
