We're out here in Norgan fucking shit up.
>>
>>749596490
is it as good as the first game yet?
>>
>>749596590
I'm having fun. Norgan is a massive region, and I've only explored maybe 40% of it. I'm just dicking around and taking my time, haven't even finished the DLC story yet.

A lot of people were/are still upset that things from the first game got removed in the second one and were never added back in, but I never cared that much. I enjoyed the first game, and the second game is just as fun to me.
>>
end of dlc spoilers: is there a point to doing more vortexes instead of bumrushing satan over and over again?
>>
>>749596956
You can Superpower satan and the super special vortex has a lot of great drops.
>>
>>749596910
I was extremely dissapointed with base DD2, and dropped it about 3 hours after arriving in the desert area years ago. Can other vocations have no actions bound now, or is it still Warrior with the most available? That shit pissed me off the most.
>>
>>749597116
What?
They increased the amount of skills you can bind from 4 to 6 for every vocation.
>>
>>749597108
awesome, that makes me feel a lot better about the endgame loop because my biggest issue with base game was replayability in the endgame
>>
I can’t play the dlc before the weekend, aaaaghh. Blast in my stead, bros
>>
>>749596590
>smaller play area (obviously) but each region is packed with things to find (that actually matters) and enemies that will rape you in hard mode
>simpler story and quest, no more main game retardation of "sneak missions"
>actually different biome instead of another "vaguely greenery medieval europe"
I won't say it's amazing but it's a much better experience than the main game, it's not even funny
>>
>>749597184
yeah with DA
>>
am i crazy or do the pawns feel completly useless in the dlc ?
especially during boss fights, they sometimes just stand around doing nothing
>>
>>749597286
I noticed for melee vocations, yeah, especially fighters
but my sorc is doing fine as long as I aggro the enemy and the archer pawns that I hired were also still pretty active
>>
>>749597286
Depends on what skills/equipment you use with them.
My thief pawn pretty much did more damage than me on the final superboss...
>>
Ay yo this place kinda fucks ngl.
>>
>>749597286
I'm at the post game and all my melee pawns can't keep up with all the teleporting and flying bosses at all. Sorcerers can barely get a spell off. Most of the mages I hire seem to be completely retarded and I'll sometimes catch them trying to climb on bosses instead of healing one of my seriously injured pawns. Archers do OK but they don't have the damage or utility to carry a fight.

I'm still going through the base game
I'm level 36 and I still haven't finished Brant's chores, not even playing on Hard
>>
>>749597286
theres some sort of bug on bosses like the giant and lesser demon where my warrior would constantly try to climb them and not fight on the ground, if the AI doesnt shit themselves they do a lot of damage with the upgraded skills
archers are top tier dps pawns overall, the upgraded cockscrew arrow is really strong
>>
>>749596590
>is it as good as the first game yet?
I'm gonna say yes. Base game felt like a downgrade in many ways, but Norgan feels less like BBI2 and more like they wanted to be a true successor to DD1. There are some things that are worse but also things that are better.

The worst thing is that it still has the slow, sluggish '''REALISTIC''' physics/animations that make you feel like you're on the moon, but that's a super-AIDS-cancer that all modern games have, even shit like BOTW. And for some reason, zoomers prefer it.

Heads up to any modders:
Equipment Stats Overhaul tanks fps, set it to like 30 or less for some reason

Also, did capcom fix the pawn AI gimping that happened with 6 skills equipped?
>>
>spell tomes fucking everywhere to incentivize actually using them at all
>Still not really anything to make actually going out of your way to do that worth it
I feel like there are a million ways that system could be made interesting
>>
>>749596590
The DLC is. It can't fix the mess that is the base game; the new dungeons are nice but the main quest, most of the side quests, music, characters and so on are still all sorts of fuck, and as far as I can tell it has done nothing to fix the encounters and base game monster variety. Haven't finished the DLC yet, but so far it is almost everything I wanted DD2 to be in terms of map, encounter and loot design.
>>
>>749597194
Farming Satan over and over will only really get you weapons with the same stats alongside that damage increase one, and then an armor or so. I've noticed they're all the same stuff after a while too. I prefer doing the vortexes for a better T4 and 5 mix for transmog too, just keep cycling between the class drop buffs.
>>
>>749597286
Are you using shitty pawns? Need to be Norgan equipped otherwise they won't do jack shit.
>>
>>749596490
Is the game actually difficult in Hard mode? I'm in NG+ right at the beginning. Does the base game stay difficult even after getting all the OP gear from the DLC?

The update last month added it to the base game. You don't need DA to use 6 skills.
>>
>>749599213
>teleporting and flying bosses
Same. I've noticed due to the faster enemies and the teleporting shit, ranged is now king. Sorcerer can't get spells off, but Archer is great with the Corkscrew shot because it can stagger enemies easier. Thief is also pretty decent for Pawns.
>>
>>749596590
>is it as good as the first game yet?
Nope because the game still feels like moving underwater, the game desperately needed a turbo mode like DMC
>>
>>749597184
>They increased the amount of skills you can bind from 4 to 6 for every vocation.
Does this make Warfarer actually great now?
>>
>>749603060
Warfarer was always the best class I dunno how or why anyone would think it wasn’t.
>>
I preordered DD2 and I still haven't played it because I couldn't make a character I liked. I hate myself.
>>
>>749602985
Hard mode just makes the game slightly harder by giving enemies slightly higher stats and more aggression it’s still not a super hard game and base game isn’t intended for super max deeps end game weapons
>>
>>749602537
They were not gifts! I earned them through hard work as a kid, writing pages and pages of neat letters so I could today have the handwriting of a Doctor!
>>
>>749596590

>>
>>749603105
Only having three skills was already a massive deal for warrior in dd1, and that's just one vocation by itself
>>
No new vocation is a big L for the expansion. What a wasted opportunity.
>>
>>749596590
If DD2 was just Norgan from the start and nothing else, the game would've been met with resounding 9's and 10's across the board rather than the mixed-leaning-positive reception it got. It's leaps and bounds above the vanilla region. Above all else, it's a lot more smartly designed.
One mixed bag about base DD2 is that Itsuno has a hard-on for "friction" for banal activities while refusing to add any real teeth to the combat, the result is that you have a massive overworld that looks awesome and feels great to traverse the first one or two times, but quickly sours when you have to walk back across it for the 10th time while every enemy encounter is nothing more than a speed bump and 99% of the loot is worthless consumables or low-tier mats you don't need.
Dark Arisen fixes this in a few key ways:
>1) Almost every enemy variety can be encountered anywhere across the region, keeping combat fresher for longer
>2) Small enemies are more resilient and dangerous (play Hard mode) - not ball-bustingly so, but they put up far more resistance compared to vanilla, large enemies are also more numerous in quantity
>3) The overworld is a lot more dense in terms of loot, verticality and open-ness, and has lots of one-way-locked shortcuts, so you feel a more palpable sense of progression when exploring as opposed to just walking in a line across a long coridoor with some junctions
>4) RNG armor and weapons drop from almost every source and are superior to what you can buy/craft, encouraging combat and going off the beaten path more than anything in the base game ever did

Every time I leave Norgan do go do another Last Rites dungeon, it feels like going underwater before resurfacing for a breath of fresh frigid northern air.

>>749602678
There is a pawn inclination that allows them to actively use the books. An NPC you meet later on in the DLC is effectively a showcase of this (being a Fighter with an infinite library stuffed up their ass).
>>
>>749602985
>Is the game actually difficult in Hard mode?
In Vermund, no. You'll outgear the strength of enemies all the same, and enemy count/distribution is still low enough that you'll rarely get overwhelmed. Because enemies spam their big attacks more often, you ironically have bigger windows to attack some of them because they're more often charging.

In Norgan, enemies are much more aggressive normally, and Hard makes them attack almost nonstop.
Your gear doesn't go way beyond them the same way you trivialize enemies in Vermund, and the enemy density often results in multiple groups and giant enemies showing up jump you simultaneously.
>>
>>749603318
Do what Eir does and 'pretend' to be a Mystic Knight with that new specialization that allows pawns to use Grimoires kek
>>
>>749596590
the base game was good on release albeit way too easy and the performance was bad. I'd say 7/10 or even 8. later patches made oxcarts and ferrystones cheaper, reduced physics quality, added retarded looking npc culling, and added permanent portcrystals to main hubs. this diluted the game to 6/10. by the dlc they added in eternal ferrystone and bunch of endgame dungeons but the game is just ruined by now and pointless. I've played the dlc area for 10 hours and so far I've liked it but it's an entirely different kind if game. DD2 is a very tragic game that first got raped by monster hunter and then later got raped by capcom's QoL obsession. the dlc seems like an actual realized vision but pairing it with the abomination that is current state DD2 base game is preposterous.

I think some AI bugs have crept in either with the DLC or even earlier with the performance overhaul. I've had fights where the AI got so utterly and completely locked up that they wouldn't do anything anymore, they'd just stand still as an ogre near the checkpoint town wailed on them. Had to run away and force teleport them out before they started behaving normal again.

Before buying the expansion, explain to me how you access the new dungeons across the base game. As far as I know you get to the DLC region in Vernworth, but there are plenty of new dungeons all across the base game. Do you go back and forth or are you supposed to do all the dungeons first and then go to the DLC region?
>>
>>749603497
Wish I could do what all of the guardsmen NPCs with spears do and use spear/quarterstaff techniques.
Gimme an Advanced Green "Armsman" vocation that uses all of the spears and polearms the game has but you can't use... and make his R1 a pole vault so I can evade vertically and do plunging attacks.
>>
>>749603650
There’s a sidequest that leads you to the first optional dungeon where you get a compass that shows you the other optional dungeons. You’re intended to go back and forth.

Too much loot, in fact. You'll spend a lot time just managing your inventory, even if you ignore the special stats and just go for highest STR of MAG. The progression is so fast that it seems pointless to keep track of it, I wonder if there's any point in bothering with the special stats if the game doesnt bring anything that challenges the stat caps. I haven't got to the very end though...
>>
>>749603597
Same, i feel like the pawns get stuck way more in the dlc, either on some rocks, going atop of a downed monster and doing absolutely nothing, climbing on a monster to do nothing, and even the pathfinding seems to be worse.
>>
>>749603318
My only hope is for the custom skill modder to make the custom vocation mod when he's able to.
>>
>>749603597
they broke pathfinding on elevated terrain. the troll near vernworth, on the road to melve used to jump down instantly for ambush. in current game it cant figure out how to come down from the hill and just spergs around the ledge.

>>
>>749603905
Still not enough but there's a lot better options than the base game. Also you can transmog the hybrid vocation armor too, since there were some good ones.
>>
>>749603335
While you are right, it's questionable if it is possible to create as content rich of game from scratch. Expansion heavily builds on top base game's foundation. Plus it does sacrifice some aspects such as NPS dense areas, NPC interaction, simplifies quests and travel.
Overall it's fixing mistakes, not building ambitions ideas from ground up.
>>
>>749603060
>Does this make Warfarer actually great now?
With mods it makes it better. I have one that let's you bind rearmament to a button combo and each weapon has six skills that you can change at a vocation guild, but you need to have the specific weapon equipped to tweak that load out in the guild. This mod also let's you use master skills. Another great mod is the one that gives every class double jump and dodge roll, and then a third mod that expands the pawn commands so you can force fighter/warrior pawns to do their launch move for platforming even of they don't have it equipped, summon all the pawns to you, or force your mage to cast their buff. I cannot begin to describe how much I've blasted. Literally, the double jump uses thief's powder explosion jump so the blast sound effect plays a lot. Dd2 is so much more fun when you can actually platform and switch classes on the fly.
>>
>>749603874
just the metal panties
>>
all the game needs now is monster cocks mod
>>
>>749603256
Core skills in 2 are strong to the point melee weapons don't need any weapon skills to perform.
Those five skills slots are best used for mage and archer skills.
>>
>>749603650
Every Lost Rites dungeon you clear gives you an item that can be used to activate any obelisk in Norgan.
An activated obelisk confers three benefits:
>Can get the tier-2 version of the new skill for the class it represents
>Can get a boost to your base stats
>Can tip the scales for loot drops for 24 in-game hours (no idea if it affects quality or likelihood that relics are for that class), this can be upped to 5 days with an item you buy for Norgan Ducats (DLC seeker tokens)

>>749603806
>Until you get better gear. Then the game becomes too easy again
By no means would I call it a hard game, but the stuff in the DLC doesn't get atomized by higher level gear the way stuff in the base game does because it's a smaller range in terms of power levels (shit starts slowing down at about 50, hits a crawl at about 100, and beyond 200, levels are basically a placebo that only serve to make your pawn less-and-less hireable).
Unless the final tier of relics have like 10000 strength/magic or whatever in which case I'll eat crow.

>>749604175
Yeah but the DLC doesn't really "fix" anything in the base game or even really interact with the base game at all. It just adds a few dungeons.
Were it not for the Lost Rites, there would be basically nothing in Norgan that really links to the base game. To the point where they could've feasibly sold it as a stand-alone title for $40 or something.

Warrior has way m ore useful skills than just the same big charge attack over and over

More shit on blocking or perfect blocking, more shit to do with shield bashes or charges, more offensive options while blocking, the block-to-magic resource meter from DDO, more sigils and allowing them to be placed on bosses while climbing, something to actually let you jump in front of your pawns before they eat an attack instead of just hoping you can maintain aggro
And yeah obviously there's a lot more that could be done with spellsword shit like abyssal anguish, this is the game that included twinsword vergil and gave warrior dmc parries and timed press combos

So is this DLC connected to the base game in any way? All I'm reading about it is that it's for the most part separate, different storylines, even the lore seems to be entirely fucking separate to what happens in the base game. How does it work, do you just abandon your Arisen journey midway and just go to notFInland for adventures or does it happen after the base game's story, as stupid as that'd be?

Maybe someone would help me out, I don't want to ask at Steam since I need straight answer on whenever Dargons Dogma II uses any kind of kernel-based or similar anti-cheat solution or Enigma.

I don't buy games with Denuvo because I don't trust in the slightest the company behind it. Likewise, I don't trust Enigma developers even more. At the same time I don't want to install games that would inject anti-cheat malware. I heard that DD II removed Denuvo but have zero info if it got Enigma instead and some people claims it have something called "Capcom DRM" and call it "anti-cheat". If anyone could clarify this for me, I would be grateful. Thanks in advance.

Monster Hunter is about positioning, learning the monsters with 20+ moves and managing knockdowns and rage timers, and the expectation that if you get hit you are getting rocked (also limited Carts). It's much "tighter" and you're expected to know your weapon and the monster.
Dragon's Dogma is way more about having a party of mixed ability characters, resource management, and doing stuff like climbing on monsters to hit weakpoints and avoid damage, pushing monsters over as a group, delaying an enemy 20 seconds so your sorcerer can cast Meteor, and so on. DD1 was more arcadey and DD2 does more with momentum, weight, physics based actions etc. In contrast it's much looser, fights become chaotic clusterfucks and you're sometimes just throwing any shit at the situation you've got.

Both equally fun in different ways, and they do share some design DNA and both completely embody the fantasy of going on an expedition fighting big monsters. Don't expect "Monster Hunter but with wizards" though, cos it's not quite that.
The two series are basically alternate versions of the same Capcom brainstorming sessions that happened in the early 2000s, so I can't see why it wouldn't tickle your fancy. DD1 Dark Arisen is probably still a better game, but DD2 is now a solid 8/10 with the DLC.

It's a "duospear" so it's more of a twinblade and is evocative of a Dragoon playstyle, which personally I prefer but the game is definitely missing the obvious Lancer/Spearman playstyle.
It's fun, but it's overtly fantastical silliness and you'll be disappointed if you're looking for a Centurion or Phalanx fantasy. I do like Fighter in this game though, could never gel with it in the first game.

DD combat is messy and unpredictable. Small encounters can turn into a big group fight at any moment (this is the best part of the combat)

DD1 is more responsive and better to control, while DD2 can feel slow and clunky, and since you're coming from MH, you will definitely take some time to get use to the DD2 movement and control. But I can guarantee as a fellow MH fan there is blast to have once you get comfortable with the game.

I fully intend to be taking peoples pawns on loot runs and just standing back as trickster/mage and healing them and rewarding them justly for their efforts. I did it in DD1 and now I can do it again.

>>
>>749608904
Dont put charge abilities on warrior pawns the same way you shouldnt put the perfect block and parry on fighter pawns. This shit only works if you arent in a 4 man group and the enemy focuses on them, otherwise they see an attack coming for an ally and then start trying to parry it.

>>
>>749603158
>>749602985
>>749603335
I thought base game was good enough for difficulty the "first time" you hit each region, but that's mainly due to sluggish movement outside of Thief's dash, staggering taking 9000 frames, getting wombo combo'd by groups, and physical generally being less DPS than magic (even upgraded engame gear in NG+ Vermund did less damage than my sorceror pawn using tornado or meteor, which melted multiple HP bars while I whittled away at it). In other words enemies are dangerous if you wind up on the back foot. DLC is currently the same as well, that one ruins area just past the stone bridge and the small caves, and west of the mammoth cyclops - that was a gangbang I barely survived.

>>749604638
2nding this. I like both DDs but Crimson Desert is very good. Only bad thing is that it also has wonky movement.

>>749604513
It wouldn't be half as bad if Trickster wasn't so gimmicky.
>>
>>749608282
AI in games is incredibly stagnant. It's one of those features that requiers a lot of effort but gets noticed by players only when it works poorly. DD has it as the main selling point and still people much rather be able to do every single thing themselves and play it as pure action game than interact with Ai companions in meaningful way. See wayfarer viewed as ultimate best vocation, trickster the worst and mage being exclusively pawn vocation.
>>
why do thief pawns always want to boost me up a monsters back
>>
>>749608814
not even in the best universe was dd2 breaking even half that
>>
>>749604638

I like Crimson Desert but it's soulless. I only kept playing because I could mod in character customisation. Quirky and surprising but blander than even TES.
DD2 for all its flaws still has heart and vision, whilst CD was just a bunch of developers making cool stuff that only barely fits together cohesively.

If the devs actually did a CD with Dragon's Dogma style character and party building, and had somebody wrangle all the devs into a singular design document, then it would be fucking baller.

Power levelling can pose an issue in terms of pawn hiring but for actual game balance it means nothing, Gear dictates your strength.

You can safely start on Normal and the game will let you switch to Hard. It won't, however, let you switch down to Normal from Hard. In that sense it's probably best to stay on Normal to start, have a chill playthrough whilst you learn the ropes, and then switch to Hard later on when you feel like it's time to get sweatier.

Hard Mode makes enemies more aggressive and they stagger less easily. Some say this only applies to Norgan DLC itself but i'm not sure.
As for pawns you can just hire people from /ddg/ or other online communities, that usually works better than relying on randoms who are just hiring riftsluts or boring Kratos cosplays or whatever.

Anons, for those of you who played at launch, did Capcom really dumb down NPCs and Pawns just for performance?
I noticed NPCs and Pawns suffer from terrible pathfinding and barely react to the environment, especially dynamic obstacles like carts. Even increasing the NPC bubble only stops the sudden pop-ins.
Were NPCs actually smarter back then? What did it look like and what exactly was better?

Warrior with good support pawns feels like how the game is meant to be played, and I can't go back to not having this kind of stagger and damage. Fuck the "weighty" movement, though. Archer dungeon also sucked, a lot of micro managing pawns to stay put, yet they still fell down the second I wasn't looking.

>>
>>749613309
Apparently, it can go all the way up to tier 5. I've only gotten tier 3 so far. I figured you start getting tier 4 and 5 towards the end of the DLC, or maybe after clearing the DLC main story. I know once I reached level 100, most of the relics that I got were all tier 3. The game will still give you tier 1-2 which is just junk basically at a certain point.

I wish it had an auto recycle feature, like you can just set it to automatically sell tier 1-2 equipment, or even tier 3.

>>749613427
I thought it only showed one the map AFTER you find it. It doesn't just show them all automatically, do they? It doesn't for me. I had to discover them before they were permanently marked on the map.

>>749613446
I'm aware of the upgraded trickster search ability, but I don't really mess with trickster because it's stupid and lame. I'm not going to play it just for that one skill. I guess if you're playing Warfarer you can use Trickster just for that one skill.

Don't skim on customizing your main pawn. Look up youtube character creator videos if you must. Half the fun of DD is renting out your pawn to other people and borrowing others' since quest/monster/treasure info is shared by them. Your 3rd/4th pawn (the ones you borrow from other people) don't level up so you'll be cycling them out frequently. Stuff doesn't age or spoil in storage.

>One mixed bag about base DD2 is that Itsuno has a hard-on for "friction" for banal activities while refusing to add any real teeth to the combat

Half of the base game's quests is spent in one of the two capitals. Basically the game only ask you to go from Melve to Vermundt (can be skipped in ng+), you then have the option to visit the hidden villages then you're supposed to go to Batthal. Once the game ask you to return to the Havre you should have have plenty of ferrystones with you basically you only need to cross the map once. My pawn helpfully pointed out a ladder that was inside of a tall tower with a locked door at the base and stairs leading down inside (so you clearly gain access to the tower from a cave or what have you elsewhere). Thanks.

I would guess most people roll a Mage pawn so they can have a pocket healer. I always pick Archers.

Apparently it's still being worked on. Gotta do stuff like making sure the tier 3 skills still work alongside Dullahan's buffs I'd assume. There'd be no point to some of the changes if the new skills just completely ignore them.
I'm hoping for a release soon too because I've gotten too used to Fighter's quicker Tusk Toss and Shield Pummel being a core skill.
>>
What do people play as the most in DD2? Is it safe to assume it's the "action" vocations such as thief, archer, mystic archer, fighter, warrior, etc.? I've been playing as a mage for a good 10 hours or so now and shit's boring as fuck. The most fun I've had is making stuff fly upwards with Frigor and then hurling ice boulders at them.
>>749616003
To be fair the game's really obtuse with character creation. At first it made me think "you either start from scratch or choose one of these premades" but what the game doesn't tell you is you can actually customize the premades as well. Apparently there's also an official external character creator you can use to transfer over appearance data but most won't bother with that either.

>>749615991
It’s good but really wait for those usual sales Capcom has that’ll make it 80% off
>>
>>749615991
I bought it a month ago when they fixed the performance issues. I don't regret it but the base game does get super boring after a while. I put 60 hours into the base game and half of that was a boring slog. The DLC so far is more fun, mainly because it's harder (which the base game isnt) and the content is much more condensed.

50€ was a fine price imho.

I started playing this and not sure how to feel about it.

It's been 6 hours and I swear I've only seen 3 common enemy types between goblins, wolves and harpies. Oh and one cave had the lizard people I guess. Enemy diversity is the worst I've ever seen, somehow even worse than BotW.

Everything feels slow, which is something I enjoy. Most games nowadays are way too fast paced, this one feels more tactical.

Between the lack of enemy diversity and the lack of meaningful rewards, I don't feel much of an incentive to explore and get stuff done. Sometimes I just wish I was playing TW3 or Skyrim instead.

Pretty much. Dd1 came out of nowhere as a funny little jank game people wrote off initially but the more they played it, the more addicted they got. Soon everyone was calling it "the greatest 7/10 ever made" and yearning for it to get the budget it needed.
Dd2 came out and was a little bit disappointing but it's more of what people craved from dd1 but prettier and lacking in some areas. The dlc is pretty good so far though.
