It’s made the statement it needed to make. There’s really been nothing new in the world that would need a new message. I’d still love a new game cuz they’re fun, but the argument that there’s some kind of narrative void it needs to fill is not true.And let me stop you before you blab about AI - Deus Ex has covered every angle, and modern AI stuff really hasn’t changed previous conversations. It’s all fairly standard and predictable algorithmic nesting. No new insights around complexity, emergence, or intelligence. The real area of study that may create a need for a new Deus Ex is actually biology and psychology. Stuff like quantum consciousness and manufactured cells are big breakthroughs that will change technology and philosophy - however we’re still far from pinning it down. AI is a rudimentary topic in comparison.

Blame Square-Enix for heinous mismanagement and absurd sales expectations and blame Embracer for just buying random ass IPs without any real idea of how they would turn it into something that would make money.The most notable thing out of the old Square-Enix Europe catalog is Tomb Raider and that's because Amazon took over the IP so shit like games and TV shows are actually being made.Yeah it's probably packed to the gills with AI slop and Sony-tier game design like crafting mechanics and a cooking system for some godforsaken reason but it's at least a game being made.Deus Ex isn't being made because nobody is going to bat for Deus Ex outside of Aspyr's "remake"

This was followed by a wave of white migration out of those inner city areas, and then in the Rust Belt specifically (Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, etc.) there was a second wave as manufacturing was gutted in the 80s. Leading to these cities basically being plurality black, if not an outright majority, by the early 21st century. Which is why Deus Ex HR has so many black people in it.
