What were you thinking?
>>
>>749628074
That's not really the point. This is an inflection point in PC gaming and it means there will no longer be any technological advances in the industry anymore. We're only going backwards from here on out.
>>
>>749627663
>AMD still selling strong and planning on releasing new GPUs soon
...huh? I guess you're fucked only if you really really really cared about ray tracing gimmicks...
>>
These cards are only good for CUDA and NVENC. If all you do is play vidya, you should just get an AMD card.

Weird, I'm on PC and can still play just fine. Anybody else?

>there will no longer be any technological advances in the industry anymore
Good, every "advance" in the last 20 years has been a net negative on the medium. Hopefully AAA studios go back to making good games now.
>>
>>749628341
maybe if we reverse long enough AAA games become good again
or we drive off a cliff, whatever happens first
>>

DLSS was a tech advance and people just pissed and moaned and cried about it, might as well stop making unoptimized games aiming at future hardware and start fucking optimizing shit again.

is there even a point going beyond 3D? 3D itself began the slide of visual immersiveness > gameplay design, so ask yourself if "technological advances" for something as useless in as videogames is really a problem. Making a game 3D doesn't automatically make a game fun or well-designed.

>we need to go HIGHER and MORE immersive, with a FULL SUITE of 3D shaders and and

well hold the fuck up. that shit hasn't expanded videogame design as a craft.

Those reasons were what killed Stadia, and Luna's fate won't be any different. Doomers may claim cloud gaming will be the forced future, but is simply too impractical to be of any use except maybe in some European and US cities.

Nah. It won't be. Cloud computing can only work in major cities that have the internet infrastructure to support it, but cities aren't the entire world and when you go out to more remote areas then the internet turns into utter shit.
I'm on Starlink because I live in an area like that, and aside from Starlink the only other offers were such shit plans with hard data caps that a cloud PC would probably blow through that datacap in a day or 2. These people have their heads in the utter clouds because they have no idea what it is like to live outside of a major city.

I think they're delusional.
First of all it's all subsidized so it relies entirely on the taxpayer's willingness to keep throwing money at them which we know rarely lasts more than a few election cycles.
Secondly the PC hardware business is $330 billion dollars a year, gaming accounts for $70 billion dollars. They'd be giving up on a $70 billion dollar industry to anyone who can make cards that are within the range of the last 3-4 gens.
Thirdly the chinese are undercutting their frontier models every few months with an open source release. If their government decides to subsidize graphicis hardware undercutters they'd steal that market too.

It did not end well. All they did was create a new caste, only with additional political power besides the monetary one, and those tyrants got their due punishment in the 80s and 90s.

Trying to kill people because they have more than you ls the reason we spent millennia in caves, never building a damn thing, only raping, killing and eating each other.

Well I hope on the day the hordes turn violent your jewish master extends his hand down into the slum you inhabit and pulls you to safety. It would be terrible for a shill like you to have to be left alone with those that want your owner dead.
The 'rich' do nothing for society. The problems you mention are because jews did jewish things to other jews. Society didn't rid themselves of a problem then but were simply useful idiots. Regardless I would prefer the elites dead even if nothing changed, at least a few less children would be raped to death.

The best part is when they do it and the new thing ends up being infinitely worse (like all the people who had to implement it told them it would be) and then they act clueless and pretend that they weren't the ones who demanded it be changed in the first place.

We're set for graphics for a while, we don't need a bunch of new visual gimmicks every year, like GPUs are a goddamn smart phone.

The western industry needs a complete reboot on how they handle game development from top-to-bottom, and in the meantime just keep what we've got going, and polish the shit out of that. The visual arms race was going to hit a ceiling at some point anyway, and if you compare something like Arkham Knight to something released today, graphics haven't improved THAT fucking much in over a decade.

Why would they? they love datacenters too. Their limited steps into the consumer GPU market have so far just been underwhelming production numbers of not genuine flagship models

>>749630346
Yeah.
Mass effect came out in 2008 and for PC the minimum spec was 6800 GT or better. Which came out in 2004 April.
Crysis minimum GPU was the 6800 GT which again ibid, just 2007.

For comparison's sake imagine if a game released in 2027 that had a 4080 as a minimum GPU requirement.

So what would you guys do?

Sell your GPUs to gamers, one at a time, and deal with retailers, customer complaints, tech journos and a whole bunch of other coordination and quality assurance work.
Or sell your GPUs to datacenters in bulk, a thousand at a time, straight from the factories, minimal complaining, no marketing or fancy box designs or annoying journos running benchmarks and minimal coordination needed.

I'm not saying I like the option Nvidia have gone with, but I understand it. Like from a business perspective.

Your weird sense of self-sacrifice is odd. If your community exists solely because of your products, you don't have a community, you have a cult. I'm not "predicting" anything. Predictions leave room for doubt.
With the introduction of DLSS1 in 2018 Nvidia told the world that the future of computing will be based on machine learning technology. And here we are almost a decade later with DLSS5 and the future of graphical rendering is exactly what they said it would be. It's not a prediction if you dictate what's going to happen and no one can challenge you.
If Nvidia come out tomorrow and say that in the next 10 years you'll be streaming your games, you better either hunker down or get ready for game streaming.

The real issue was that the retards were trying to sanitize the site to sell it to big tech, big tech caught up and the offers vanished overnight, they tried to keep the show running with subscriptions, despite the large userbase, barely anyone bought one due to the lack of trust after the mass NSFW bans and site exodus years ago.
Now they are pretty much done unless Disney buys the entire thing and not just the team and the data.
That's why you never mess with gooners, for a business, the only thing worse than receiving hate is target demographics showing indifference to the paid service or product.

Being able to use one device for everything is nice. Like I said, if your interests end at goyball and GTA then a console is better than a PC but if you want to do anything else it is worth it to get a decent PC. Also paying extra for online if you want to play online games adds up to be more expensive than a PC in the long run. And piracy is way less convenient on consoles. If you play don't pay for the subscription and stick to only certain games and shows that are on the console it is worth it to only have a console, but otherwise it is better to have a decent enough PC. But I'm also the type who doesn't really play modern games with only one or two exceptions and don't mind having less frames for those games because I play others way more and use my PC for other things in general like running /tg/ stuff

There will eventually be an AI crash, probably within the next 5 years for a lot of different reasons. The most obvious reason is that the money invested into it has zero chance of being recouped. If anything extra parts might flood the market eventually, though it depends if crypto has another spike or not or if it crashes as well

AI wasn't really something most people expected to happen so it kind of prolonged the issue. If you notice a lot of the faggots who were shilling crypto and NFTs pivoted to AI. The bubble will burst one way or another because the world economy is built on pillars of crumbling sand, it's really a matter of "what will cause the crash" rather than "will the crash happen".
It's funny because we are already in a state where we haven't recovered from 2008 so we are going to be getting a crash within a crash.
AI and crypto can only function so long as the global market can dump excessive amounts of money into them, once that no longer becomes possible or investors get cold feet from not getting returns their value will drop. It will happen, just a matter of when.

Anyone who seriously thinks that AI is going to take over are delusional.
The worst thing that would happen is that we are so tremendously stupid give it nuclear codes and the ability to launch them but even if that happens it will kill itself too. AI can literally only take control as much as we let it. So long as we have the ability to unplug it and physically destroy the data centers and that it cannot maintain itself without human labor, it will continue to be reliant on us.

>>
>>749662539
Sure bro, just like when crypto "popped."
Here's a reality check:
First of all, those bubble poppings aren't even 1/10 of what you apocalypse charlatans predict.
If the bubble pops, the only thing that will happen is a temporary 10–20% price drop, just for prices to pump again after a couple of years. That's it.
The reality is that you're never going back to 2021, EVER. If you didn't build a high-end PC back then, you lost the best chance you'll ever have in your life.
Sure, getting a 20% discount might help your ego, but the fact is that you could have bought the same thing five years ago for five times less.
>>
>>749662859
>the PC GPU price spike is natural?
PS5 costs skyrocketed long before the Iran war. The PC GPU price is heavily affected by it. The point is, your argument hinges on unique circumstances and is not the normal. PCs have always been more expensive than consoles. So your PS5 argument doesn't mean anything.
>depreciation isnt a thing?
It is, but this cycle it isnt. Dont see what your point is here, are you a pajeet?
>"absurd spending" is the same price as the PS6?

>"minimal gains" that are still well beyond your current and future console?
Thats right. Because what good is hardware when you've got no games to play it on. Besides 1 or 2 exceptions over the years, PC follows the console game development cycle. You might have terabytes of RAM and a supercentre mega PC, what are you playing on it? Castlevania and goat simulator? You lost, tranny.

I don't know where you're getting "take over" from, but it has already improved itself many times over in just three years. It's going to outperform humans pretty soon, in every category.

No it won't starting thinking nor will it "take charge", but it's going to cause some redundancy issues when an algorithm can do all tech work in a few seconds while solving quantum formulas that stumped mathematicians for 50 years. Our usefulness is going to be called into question very quickly.

Crypto didn't pop. It will when a crash happens. Crypto gets 99% of it's value from speculation and not from any actual real value it has. It isn't backed by anything and isn't something you can physically use. Ironically despite people claiming it is a detached currency from the global system it needs the global system to have value. Random people in your community wouldn't accept it, it only has value because the global infrastructure and speculation fuels the value. It isn't backed up in real terms. AI managed
>>749663026
Unless it can mine metals to make robots that it can walk around and actually do stuff, all it does is devalue white collar labor. Unless it gets to a point where it can do everything including manual labor people are going to realize it isn't worth the investment and vastly scale it back to the point where it is only really used for search engines and maybe lazy people who want to pump out art. People are hyped about it because it is new or novel but there isn't ever going to be a reliable use case for it because it's just easier to deal with humans than AI hallucinations and unpredictability and the need to be plugged into technology 24/7 to even use it. The honeymoon phase will end.
>Our usefulness is going to be called into question very quickly.
You have it backwards, people are going to realize that AI doesn't actually provide meaningful value, just spreadsheet value and undercutting actual people. AI doesn't have value if all it does is undercut most people. What is the point of having AI if all it does it make life worse for most people? You are putting the cart before the horse.
