What happened (or more accurately, didn't happen) to this franchise is deeply saddening. It's even sadder knowing that, if they made a new one right now, it would at best be a moderately okay game. Adequate. But it would always lack the soul, the heart, the vision, the spirit. Knowing that....perhaps Banjo-Kazooie is already dead. R.I P.

Here's an even earlier beta logo btw.

They never wanted to make Threeie
Get over it

banjo was never good

Weird how people talk about this as a big franchise

It's literally 1 game people actually like and care about
>>
Was the GBC one any good?
>>

The one that didn't exist? You're probably thinking of Grunty's Revenge for GBA and yeah, it's pretty fun.

He's too innocent for that

How different everything would be if the devs had never looked at Mario 64 and Conker to reboot development?

Development on Conker began in 1996, then the 'Project Dream' team took a look at the game, realized their little adventure RPG wasn't going anywhere, and rebooted it into a genre they already knew how to handle—a platformer. That is how Banjo was born, and it actually managed to launch before Conker.
Consequently, the Conker team began to lose faith in the squirrel; to set him apart from the bear, they made him edgier. Thus, Conker was rebooted in 1998—the same year Banjo was released.

It's because early impressions said "Great, ANOTHER cartoon platformer" and the game itself wasn't working out

I don't even think they're a lock for Smash 6.

Phil's gone
Like him or not, he was a driving factor to make it possible

Does Yooka-Laylee have a Banjo mod yet? Does YL2 have a DK and Diddy mod yet?

i think one of the artists confirmed they fucked

i don't think people would even care as much if mumbo didn't mention it at the end of tooie. i don't really even know why people want a new banjo game, considering none of the people who made the first two even work at rare anymore. it would be like asking naughty dog to make a new crash bandicoot.

And that's a good thing. Banjo singlehandedly killed interest in Smash Ultimate for many that fucking Sans of all characters had to reignite it.
>>

people were more excited for a cuphead costume than byleth. they fucked up hard with the dlc.
>>
I literally don't know anything about Activision at all. Is them being in charge of Rare looking like a good omen for us, or nah?
>>
>>749650002
They cancelled a Crash/Spyro crossover and sent all the devs involved in the brief revival period to "support" work
The new Spyro game that did get greenlit was most definitely a Phil Spencer driven decision
>>
I've realized recently how much I prefer Tooie over Kazooie. BT isn't the better game over all I don't think, but goddamn I admire Tooie so much for all it did. BK doesn't captivate me nearly as much

Watching zoomers whine and cry and seethe at the lava quiz show is some deeply cathartic shit
