i'll be going offline for a couple of months and I'm bringing with me my laptop with Rimworld in it and other games in offline mode.Should i switch to the new engine? anybody tried it?
>>749643968So far it's brought nothing but improved performance for me.
>>749643968Depends on the mods. Most everything that relies on harmony loader is fucked until an update is pushed out. Otherwise, you're good to go
It's literally the same thing but works 2-4 times faster
>>749652912I dont get why this is an issue for whats essentially an idle game. Is it to cater to modfags that cant launch the game unless they have 1500 porn mods queued up? I know they love to complain that it takes 2.5 hours for the game to launch.
When does Rimworld 2 come out?
>>749643968Absolutely, switch to the new engine. For other good offline games stuff like Stardew Valley, Elderfield then a long rpg like Cyberpunk or Witcher would go well. Why are you going offline by the way? Just to be offline or for work?
>>749643968What submarine do you serve on
>>749653631I only played vanilla with DLC and even then, TPS dropped off a cliff if there was an uncontrolled fire or animal herd on the map.Game ran like shit for what it was, so improving it seems well worth it to even just support larger colonies.Used to be softcapped at around 10 colonists back in the day because of the performance issues. Fixing the basics makes it almost an entirely different game.
>>749653631>idle gameIt's a game with a lot of moving parts, and one of the most popular gameplay styles is to have a large colony full of pawns and animals doing different things while amassing a shit ton of buildings/crafting stations and items while spawning in more and more enemies. I hesitate to call it idle when the game specifically throws events at you, and unmodded pawns will only do daily tasks on their own and at best have simple commands like "make more x when below y amount". The player has to action everything above a braindead level of autonomy including fighting back against raids. Then add in mods that add even more shit or mechanics even if you never touch Rimjobworld. The game is very mod friendly and has a massive amount of them so yeah people will eventually install a lot of what they want that isn't in the base game.
>>749653631Anon, have you even played past 5 mins before loading a new playthrough? even vanilla endgame mountain base with all DLCs causes severe lag on 3x speed
>>749653631You cannot be idle in Rimworldyou have to click so much..do you play on the easiest difficulty or something?
>>749643968What other games?
>>749643968What porn are you bringing?
>>749643968I got a 2018 laptop. Have a mid-late game colony with 22 pawns, 12 dryads, 106 mods, on a cold bog swamp, while its constantly raining. In 1.6, I can't get a 60 FPS anymore at speed 1 and speed 4 was going at most 360 TPS, 240 when zoomed outWith 1.7, it maintains 60 FPS even on speed 3, and it can go up to 880 TPS zoomed in, and 660 TPS zoomed out so yeahHoly shit it's been great
>>749653929>large colony full of pawns In my experience with a few hundred hours the game punishes you for having more than about 6 colonists. >and animalsI usually kill them off because they're a waste of food.
