Wait so Darling just went straight to fucking her? And she went along even though she already has a family. The welcome later is the same year as the hiss invasion so they couldn't have known each other that long
>>
How do I know if I'm missing side missions and going through the main story too fast?
How much do I need to explore?
>>
>>749653145
Main quests are the Faults with Jesse and murder-death the Resonants. Rescuing Arish and the Sinkhole puts you on the path towards the endgame, though you still have plenty of game left.
Now which weapon combination and combo finisher did you losers pick?
>>
>>749653564
Dual blade with wide edge though by the end game I was using the secondary hammer (or drill depending on mood) instead to spam finishers
>>
>Alan Wake Easter Egg in the same building as one of the camera locations
>girl trapped in the taxi zone suspiciously similar to the dark place mentions seeing another woman and following her
We’re 100% playing as Alice Wake with some kind of time freeze camera mechanic in Alan Wake 3, right?
>>
>>749653056
Underhill and Darling both have a screw loose. I'm not surprised.
>>749653564
In later game I've moved to the glaive because how it hits so many enemies and if you get domination you are just death reaping the harvest. The hammer seems like the best secondary weapon by such a big margin I think I must be missing something about the others. I rotate finishers depending on where I am.
>>
>>749651608
I like that instead of trying to top the ashtray maze they just had the resonant equivalent be it’s own low-key thing. Really special moment.
>>
>Like Alan Wake (story not the shitty gameplay)
>Get Alan Wake 2 as supposedly it's better
>The game is full of gay cheap jump scares
Wtf? Now I have to get a mod to remove them.
>>
The stomp switch attack on the whip is really nice
>>
>>749653876
I think all the secondaries are pretty solid. Drill is ridiculous on single targets, whip is great for crowd control and the hammer is really strong if you have a lift build and is probably the strongest without building into anything.
>>
>>749654107
Are you scared?
>>
I should've been playing with ray tracing on 40 hours ago. The performance hit isn't even that bad
>>
>>749653876
>>749654428
I'm still mid game but a well charged whip strike just piles o falter on top of having great range and CC.

Are all the Finishers worse than the fists though?
>>
>>749654613
Game runs surprisingly well, especially compared to Alan Wake 2 which runs like hot ass on medium on my pc.
>>
Is this is a shill thread? because you are starting to sell me on the game.
What would I need to play before Control 2? and is the gameplay any good this time around? I gave up on this by Quantum Break and I have no idea how this shared universe thing work.
>>
>>749655815
>Are all the Finishers worse than the fists though?
Split pivot is pretty good and I cheesed the final boss by just abusing the huge amount of falter a charged upper cut has on smaller enemies. The fists are good for the final resonant though for the same falter reasons. I don't like the big cleave though and I have tried the spinning cleave yet or the pivot that flies around you so I have no opinions on those
>>
>>749656102
Just the first control. Playing Alan Wake 1 and 2 only improve stuff in regards to get certain references but isn't crucial to knowing the story same with quantum break. The most Alan Wake comes into play in 2 is making the conclusion to a slightly disappointing side quest a bit better by the possibilities it might mean for Alan Wake 3. You should play Alan Wake before playing one of the first Control's DLCs though
>>
>>749654168
What's the point of the other secondary weapons if you can have the hammer for instantly dealing with armored enemies, they're far too common to not use
>>
>>749656102
Resonant is pretty standalone as far as the shared universe goes, outside of the first Control obvs. In general Control is more relevant to Alan Wake than Alan Wake is to Control outside of the dedicated Alan Wake dlc(which you only need to play the first game to get anyways). Now if you tried playing Alan Wake 2 without playing Control first you’d probably get really confused.
>>
>>749656102
>>749657206
Also I found the gameplay more fun than the first control and both are significantly better than Quantum Break’s gameplay
>>
>>749656892
Drill chunks damage on annoying meaty single targets, and whip is good for crowd control, flying enemies and large scale falter padding. Armored enemies can easily be dealt with using inferno once you get it. I think the slam works on armored enemies too
>>
All these weapon choices are solved by using a weapon switcher mod
>>749657318
Ya Quantum Break sucks ass
Even if they fixed the gameplay the story is also ass
for me as far game play goes it's
MP2 > MP1 > AWAN > AW1 > CR > C1 > DR > AW2 > FBCF > a pile of human feces > QB
>>
The We Fight For Control bit was so awkwardly implemented I thought I broke the scripting or something. Really should have had you land in an arena then lock you in with enemies or something instead of just having you land wherever and scramble to find some kind of combat to go with the music.
>>
>>749654086
>Let’s just do what we did in the first game but less good

>>
>>749657624
All the music moments in the game fucking suck, it’s super weird.
They don’t even use their best music until the credits, wtf are Remedy’s people doing over there
>>
>>749656243
Resonant comes with an optional cutscene recap of the first game, so technically OP could start with it. But the recap isn't good.
>>
>>749657527
Surprising order I've heard nothing but negatives for AWAN and AW1 gameplay wise.
>>
>>749657752
I thought it was a good character bit and I was invested in the despair then hope of the situation idk
>>
>>749657795
>All the music moments in the game fucking suck, it’s super weird.
Nah escape the sinkhole, the parking garage fault and the credits roll were great
>>
>>749657842
The first 2 Alan Wakes are pretty short, especially AN, so they don't overstay their welcome. The Control games are way too long and the repetitive basic bitch gameplay doesn't help.
>>
>>749657898
>Nah escape the sinkhole
Completely falls flat because
>it’s not believable for a second you would stay down here
>the FBC have been fucking cunts to you up until that point so Zoey helping doesn’t mean much
>you're basically just walking from one room to the next for 2 minutes. It’s not even visually interesting because most of the time you're just... in rooms. Your camera doesn’t capture the impossible geometry of the place unless you have to look in a wider angle

>the parking garage
No rythm at all because you're constantly losing momentum from practicing the gravity shift + stopping to fight mobs

>the credits
I wouldn't count them as part of the gameplay
>>
I'm mildly disappointed by how easy this game was, after getting fire buff and leveling your shit a bit you've already won and the remaining 75% of the game is just a victory lap, they went way overboard with nerfing enemies and resonants were a joke.
>>
>>749658053
Aside from the pointless trek to the panopticon and the Ordinary AWE section which falls into the same trappings I think the first Control was a perfect length desu. I think both of those 2 sections I mentioned could've either be condensed or one of them at least have the thing you were sent there for be there so that it doesn't feel like a waste.
>>
Alan Wake 2 was barely put together thanks to Epic money and it still managed to get some meaty dlc. If this game doesn't I'm gonna be so fucking pissed
>>
>>749657795
The only music I liked in this game aside from the combat music is the crab cyclops chiptune you can find in one of the cafes.
>>
>>749656102
The gameplay is alright but I definitely got bored of it by the end. If you like control 1 you'll like this.
>>
needs more than three primaries

>>749658106

>>you're basically just walking from one room to the next for 2 minutes. It’s not even visually interesting because most of the time you're just... in rooms. Your camera doesn’t capture the impossible geometry of the place unless you have to look in a wider angle
It does and the tvs have you constantly looking around the area to find the next one there is no way between all the jumping and gravity shifting and turning to look for the next tv that you do not capture how breathtaking the area is unless you were just playing and navigating poorly
>No rythm at all because you're constantly losing momentum from practicing the gravity shift + stopping to fight mobs
Ok now I just know you were playing poorly

I keep forgetting to ask, what's the deal with this guy? He keeps muttering some incoherent stuff that I keep expecting him to give me some side quest
>>
So why is Dylan so powerful, anyways? He's magnitudes stronger than Jesse and doesn't need to bind to stuff to use powers. But nobody questions why, or why he's got super strength and toughness.
>>
>>749658656
nothing
>>
>>749658802
He got trained for years in an abusive training regime to develop and control his powers?
>>
>>749658953
But he never manifested those powers in training. That's why Darling and the others put him through so much shit: trying to get his powers to manifest.
>>
>>749658802
He's a parautilitarian he's always had innate powers just like Jessie has her force push melee without having to bind anything or all the weird Jedi shit she does unrelated to the OoPs she's bind or polaris. Him getting new abilities through faults though seem to imply he's borrowing power from Jessie in some capacity I guess though
>>
>>749658802
he's a man
men are stronger and tougher than women. this includes with paranatural shit
the rankings go like this from weakest to strongest:
regular woman
regular man
parautilitarian woman
parautilitarian man
>>
>>749659062
I always thought Jesse's telekinetic melee was just a gameplay thing, since it's never brought up in game.

Everything else she binds OoPs, which Dylan is unable to do.
>>
Does the "white pearls, but yellow and red in the eye" refer to Jesse and Dylan's hair colors after they were split?
>>
>>749658802
He always had huge potential. Aberrant/being in a situation where he could use his powers to help people just let him control them properly.
>>
>>749659057
its pretty heavily implied several times that dylan was highly uncooperative and holding back just to spite his captors
>>
>>749659197
>I always thought Jesse's telekinetic melee was just a gameplay thing, since it's never brought up in game.
She also has her dash. My headcanon is that she has all the abilities Dylan has but she mixes them in with the objects she binds which is why her feats with them are much more impressive than previous directors
>Everything else she binds OoPs, which Dylan is unable to do.
He could bind resonants so it might be just be a case of Darling being right and him not wanting to or not applying himself
>>
Oh right what the fuck is that aberrant thing anyway? What happened to service weapon?
>>
>>749659643
it's a piece of the Nail
>>
>>749659643
the Aberrant is a piece of the Nail that jesse found in the Foundation from the DLC of the 1st game. its heavily implied that the Board are inside it, and basically forced to help dylan even though hes defiant to them in order to keep existing

theres also the fact that dylan beats eldritch monsters to death with the thing like the absolute fucking gigachad that he is, even given his fetal alcoholic syndrome autism face
>>
>>749659643
We don't know where the SW is, we'll probably find out in Control 3.

The leading theory for most is that its the nail which would explain the board being stuck in it
>>
>>749659498
He was holding back but not because of spite, Darling correctly surmises in some documents that he's just got a really timid personality, he's afraid to hit and to get hit and a born wallflower. So he theorized (correctly) that the only way to get him to become powerful is to push him to the brink/get him in a crisis.

>>
>>749659821
darling may be a great scientist but hes a fucking retard when it comes to people. the way to get a timid person to be more assertive is not to just hit him harder, that just makes him more timid. the only reason dylan started hitting in the game is because he has a strong sense of protectiveness and responsibility. its literally the same as the shy quiet nerd kid who gets bullied and beaten relentlessly and never defends himself, but the instant the bully picks on someone the nerd sees as smaller and weaker than him, he flies into a nerd rage and beats the shit out of the bully, revealing that he could have done it all along but just never valued himself enough to stand up for himself. he needed a PURPOSE
>>
>>749659679
>>749659721
Ah gotchu, I didn't finish foundation because I was so fed up with the game at that point I straight up deleted it.
>>
>>749659890
Darling didn't have a heart, so he couldn't understand one.
>>
I wonder if the events of the foundation is what started the physicists mental decline
>>
>>749659946
think of the regular world as a board of wood, and the astral plane where the Board are as a separate board of wood.

the nail is quite literally a metaphysical paranatural NAIL which is driven through both at the same time, serving as a bridge between the two. its how the Board are able to communicate and interact with the material world. among other things. foundation was based on the hiss trying to corrupt the nail and spread to the astral realm and thus destroy it and the Board. jesse stops this from happening in the DLC
>>
>>749659978
>>749659890
Honestly Darling got some serious character assassination from 1 to 2, in 1 he was definitely kooky as hell and really weirdly passionate about science, but he was never out-and-out so cruel as in 2.
>>
>>749660053
the dev team really wanted to portray a white man as a comically cartoonishly and unrealistically evil monster. again.
>>
>>749660053
Yeah I think the same, he went from goofy and slightly sinister science obsessed weirdo to a literal child eating demon waaayyy too fast
>>
>>749660053
He kidnapped a ten-year-old and locked him underground for the rest of his life.
>>
>gets a new apartment
>it's in The Unknown
>it's probably a patterned duplicate of a place on the ground
>during a time when it is expected that the patterning will slowly subside
Why though?
>>
>>749660181
Didn't even give him a Calander
>>
>>749660181
In 1 the science team was trying to at least make sincere efforts to be accomodating to Dylan, with a lot of bespoke stuff like Treshold Kids.
>>
>>749660282
if you think threshold kids was in any way appropriate for a young child then you're fucking psycho, because that show was full of grotesque crazy shit with a side order of pro-FBC propaganda sprinkled on top
>>
>>749660375
Well okay but I think thats just supposed to be because it's funny as hell for us to watch, being made by nerdy ass graduates and paranormal researchers. And Dylan did say he loved it.
But of course I just mean that he got portrayed to be a demonic ass insane boomer in 2 with none of the charm he had. Like come on, the Casper we see in 2 could never have made this. In 1 he spends half the game telling Jesse she's super cool and to believe in herself.. literally different person.
>>
>>749660518
jesse is a girl
people and especially men are infamously far too accommodating and easy on girls in practically all scenarios, compared to boys
>>
>>749660076
>>749660053
>>749660181
>>749660282
In 1 you see the hints that Dylan was treated like absolute shit by the FBC. 2 just spells it out.

One moment I appreciated in 1 was how even when Dylan thinks Jesse gave up and forgot about him he still refuses to give them any hint to where she might be.
>>
>>749659536
>He could bind resonants so it might be just be a case of Darling being right and him not wanting to or not applying himself
Does he bind resonants though? It seems more like he just absorbs their powers.
>>
>>749660779
Pope says that he binds them
>>
>>749660840
Pope says that but she's guessing. Resonants are completely new. Every time Dylan 'binds' one he fucking kills it.

It's not like with an OoP where if the object is somehow destroyed the connection stops.
>>
>>749660876
He kills the patterened vessel. I don't think that this is the same thing.
>>
>>749660518
He supported Jesse once she got massive superpowers and was useful (and too far away to hurt him). Back when she was little P7, he had no compunctions about stalking her and locking her in an institution.
>>
>>749653564
>Main quests are the Faults with Jesse and murder-death the Resonants
Technically the resonants aren't actually the main quest. You only need to kill 2 of the WIZ, Central and Park trio to complete the CFD. The other 2 are completely optional. It's faults + Evacuation Zone -> Underpass -> Unknown.
>Now which weapon combination and combo finisher did you losers pick?
On paper, I picked Strike + Extend + Wide Edge, but in practice I pretty much only use Extend because the perfect charged attack is so good.
>>
>>749653056
Maybe she reminds him of his mom.
>>
>>749656892
The charged Extend attack does so much damage that it doesn't take many hits to remove armor, especially if you have dominant and/or ruthless active.
>>
>>749653564
Axe, Hammer, and Uppercut. Mainly focused on launching enemies to take advantage of the extra Power you get by attacking them, keeping them launched as long as possible, and also launching them higher and higher until I could finish them off with the charged Hammer, Ground Pound, and fall damage.

>>749656892
Drill is great for weakening enemies for your abilities, and also applying Burn with Ignite in a fraction of a second, which makes it ideal for Mold enemies, or combining it with a Mold ability to make enemies explode over and over. Using the Ignited Drill can also make short work of Hiss Shields, since Fire and Sharp damage types do bonus damage to them. Hammer is still great in a lot of situations, like breaking enemy armor easily, and doing extra Falter damage because it’s a Crush weapon, but the Drill is a great choice too.

>Are you that guy that got called an illiterate retard by another anon in the last thread?
Get your meds nigga the chief of the whole operation that led you to the Sinkhole literally insult you to your face when you go start the mission

You spend easily 80% of the time just going from living rooms to living ooms in a single plane, the few moments where you're in open-ended areas looking for the next TV don’t make up for it.

>Ok now I just know you were playing poorly
You're just outright lying now rather than admit you are wrong. Show me one webm or video where Dylan keeps his momentum while shifting gravity. You need to dash to go back to being fast. See this webm. And I'm sorry but a music video that is basically a corridor with me needing to dash every three seconds is not something I consider particularly impressive or immersive.

The fact that someone put on a smiling face and did/said a nice thing (when they wanted something from you) does not make up for the harmful shit they've done to you and others! It's not other people making them look bad it's the mask coming off, get away!
